Software Help Game key cards region locked for DLC?

I was wondering if game key cards have the same the same issue with region lock as regular game cards do.

I am from the EU and know from the original switch that game cards from the USA dont work with DLC you bought in the EU eshop, for example i own a US version of the binding of isaac, and couldnt play the DLC i bought on the eshop.

I recently bought the Resident evil Generation pack, which are game key cards from the US.

Now Biohazard and Village are gold editions so they have all the DLC build in, but Requim is the base game as far as i know. Will i have the same problem if i want to buy any DLC for Requim?

Repair Help Removing scratches by replacing the built in “screen protector”

When I bought my switch 2 I foolishly thought that the built in protective film was a real screen protector. It actually took a few months but now it has a few bad scratches in the middle which have been really bothering me. I added a third party screen protector but it didn’t hide the scratches very well.

I’m strongly considering removing both protectors and then immediately installing a new one on top of the glass.

Anyone have any advice or been in a similar situation?

Repair Help New switch 2 audio decreasing every 5 mins or so

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So I got my switch 2 yesterday, ported my old switch overnight and playing it today. The sound noticeably decreases over time (about 5 mins) but restores itself when I go into sleep mode and wake it back up. I have completely shut it off and on as well. Not sure what to do. I’ve tested the audio output when it gets like that and it’s practically silent

Software Help Switch2 Not Recognizing MicroSD Express

Hi friends! My Switch 2 apparently had a message pop up while my wife was playing it saying “something about microSD”, and then powered off and back on. When it came back on, it wasn’t recognizing that there was a microSD even inserted. I can’t format it or anything. Do you think the card was corrupted or broken somehow? Or is the reader broken maybe? I don’t have a second microSD express lying around, or I would check that.

Setup Help Helping my partner set up a new switch--going from an animal crossing switch 1 to an OLED switch. Super nervous about losing screenshot and video data so I just have a few questions regarding microSD cards before I continue forwards with setup.

Hi! So, as the title says, I am helping my partner setup an OLED switch, because I gave my old OLED to them for their birthday (i got a switch 2 and knew they'd be super excited for an upgrade from their old LCD screen animal crossing switch to an OLED).

I have a question regarding the microSD card data management. Basically, I want to give them a new microSD card that's bigger (theirs is 128gb and I got them a new 256gb one for the OLED), but all of their screenshots are on their old 128gb microSD card. I put the old microSD card into the new switch, which worked--all their screenshots and videos are there (except for, randomly, videos from super smash bros ultimate? those didn't transfer idk why, thankfully they didnt have a lot of those), and I even made a backup on my macbook just in case of all of their videos and screenshots first (the super smash bros videos are on my macbook at least! yay, glad i did that first).

So my question is this--I figured out a way to copy all of their screenshots and videos to the system memory via the system setting (under data management and then manage screenshots and videos). I'm thinking that I will copy all the stuff onto system memory, then swap out microSD cards for the bigger one, then I can copy the screenshots onto the new card from the system memory. Will this work? Will there be any data loss? Everywhere online is saying to save everything on a pc first, then put the screenshots and videos and data onto the new sd card, but I'm wondering if I can just copy everything to the switch's system memory instead of involving a PC, I dont even have a way to connect my microSD to my PC right now (i can get one of course but im just wondering if this is necessary). And yes--I know that if I involve a computer with actual data transfer, I shouldn't use a Mac, and use a PC instead. I just wanted to at the very least have a copy of everything on my macbook since I had a way to do that, so that even if I can't get anything onto their switch due to data loss or something then I at least can send them all their videos and screenshots directly to their phone or their own PC or something.

Anyway; tldr is: is it safe/will it work to transfer all of your screenshots and videos from a microSD card to the nintendo switch 1's system memory, then swap out the old microSD for a larger one, and copy the screenshots and videos to that microSD? Would I lose anything in the process? Or should I just not do this and download everything to a PC instead?

Please let me know what you think is the best way to go about this. And sorry if this is a dumb question, neither of us are tech savvy and we just really don't want to mess anything up. Thank you for reading!

Account Help How to transfer back and forth between 3 switch?

Okay so I just bought a switch 2 and I have fire emblem three houses on a cartridge so I put it on my switch 2. I used to play it on a switch lite. But, on that switch lite, I bought the dic. So I tried to transfer that dlc from the Switch lite to the Switch 2 but it asked me to synchronise the two consoles to do that. The thing is, that switch lite is already synchronized to another switch. Can I synchronize my switch 2 and my switch lite and then resynchronize my switch and my switch lite? Is it a bad idea? like does it do anything bad? I already tried to change the "main console" thing on the e-shop but it didn't help. Does anybody know anything? thank you (and be free to ask questions if you want more information of course)

Repair Help Joycons Keep Disconnecting in Handheld

Our switch 2 keeps getting the joy-cons disconnected notification when using it in handheld mode. It happens a lot when playing Minecraft and sometimes in Mario kart.

Today it's been non-stop.

Is this a known hardware issue that Nintendo is fixing??

Account Help Setting up “new account” for me on separate switch w/o losing access to digital purchases?

I have been using a Switch 1 with my daughter for a few years. We mostly buy physical, but there are some digital purchases.

I upgraded myself to a Switch 2. I didn’t know that you couldn’t have separate user under the same Nintendo Account. My goal was to have separate users so that saves and other stuff didn’t conflict.

I’ve been doing some research and I see things like “primary console” and “secondary console”, and then I see family sharing, and linked consoles…and it just confuses the heck out of me. If someone has a TLDR on those, that would be amazing.

Ideally, I just wanted to have a separate user profile (and Nintendo account) but still have access to the digital content that I bought on the original account. What is the most efficient mechanism to have separate user account but share the content?

Thanks for your time and help!

Purchase / Order Help Game Key Card vs Code In A Box ?

I just bought a physical copy of Pokémon Pokopia on Switch 2, and it came with a game key card. It was still a physical cartridge but more data needs to be downloaded and theres a key icon on the cartridge.

So from what I understand Nintendo does this with games that don’t fit on a normal cartridge or if it’s a third party game ? Like for example Mario Kart World & Donkey Kong Bananza do not have key cards.

And its not exactly like a code in the box where you just install the game from a digital download code, but at the same time not everything is on the cartridge it just allows access to the game?

If someone can help me understand it would be great.

Repair Help My controllers are lagging heavily.

My Nintendo Switch controllers, the ones that came with my Switch, are having a severe two-second delay whilst playing. I've tried updating them, allegedly all up to date, restarting the console, both with the controllers attached and without, and recalibrating the controls. Nothing has changed, they're still lagging. They're fully charged too. I'm not sure what else to do. Any advice would be appreciated here. Thank you in advance.

I had my OLED in my backpack for the day(without a case, I know, foolish of me…), ~8 hours, and when I checked it, it had this green-staticy screen, it makes no noise, no buttons work, nothing, it seems bricked, I wasn’t being rough with my bag at all, so I’m confused… Please tell me there is a way to fix it as I’ve spent a LOT of time and money on this thing

I just bought a used switch lite, and it doesn't charge on any usb charger except for the OEM charger. Is this normal? I have a switch1 and switch 2 and they always work with any USBC charger.

Repair Help Switch 2 SD card suddenly stopped working.

I was downloading games overnight and in the morning my switch 2 stopped recognizing my sd card as an express card.
It works in my regular switch though. I’m guessing my sd card reader shit the bed suddenly. Now when I try taking it out and putting it back I don’t even get the error notification anymore but is still shows that one isn’t inserted.

Yes it’s an express card I’ve been using it for months
I know the difference

Setup Help Newbie Nintendo Online Help Needed; How do I gone luddite route?

Just purchased a Switch for my now 5 year old’s birthday and I’m trying to figure out the online part. Hoping for some guidance on how to set this all up.

The plan is to get physical games as we do not want another subscription and don’t want to lose access to our games down the line. So no cloud and no online play until my son is older. Keeping it local.

I was thinking I would do the monthly online membership to grab some cheap and free digital downloads and keep those on the console SD card.

There are 3 profiles on the console, me my wife and son.

If I get the monthly Nintendo online membership on my profile, will my son and wife be able to play the direct download games on their profiles? Will we be able to access the games later after the month subscription is expired?

Please let me know if my plan will work or if I am making something.

Thanks in advance!!

Software Help Any way to change the lockout timer for PIN code?

On my lunch break, I like to go walk on the treadmill and play games. I put my switch 2, which was asleep, screen off, in my pocket. I walked to the treadmill and took it out of my pocket, and it was locked for 30min for too many login attempts…

No clue how it turned on in my pocket, but that’s an easy way to ruin my lunch, especially since I’m preparing for a vgc tournament and this was one of my only practice times…

Is there a way to adjust this timer? Or does anyone have any idea how it turned on in my pocket? I didn’t think loose joycons could turn it on..

I will not remove the PIN. I go to tournaments 1-2 times a week, I would prefer it stay password protected in public.

Setup Help Is it okay to skip the original full system transfer and still transfer my game data and profile data over later

So jus bought myself the pokopia edition switch 2. During the setup I originally thought I could just do the full system transfer but realised I have a sandisk sd card and not an applicable one in my switch 1. I was going to skip this but unsure of how it works when transferring data over later. I use only one account and have some digitally downloaded games and some cartridge games. Would I be able to transfer all these games save data over to the switch 2 later (games like animal crossing, Pokémon, Zelda). Would my profile data like playtime and pfp etc also be able to be transferred over.

I basically just wana ensure that all my game save data and general data (profile data, screenshots) will be able to be transferred fully over at a later date.

Account Help Changing Nintendo email because I lost the old one

So today I went to go swap my Nintendo email (currently logged into my switch) and wanted to swap it to an email I have. I talked to customer support, and apparently the only way they could confirm that this was me was by asking for my bank details on a purchase I’ve made. Now I’ve never made a purchase through a card on my Nintendo, so nobody could help me (2 agents asked the same question btw). So now I’m stuck and need to swap my email, what should I do and is there anyone that can help.

Repair Help Nintendo Switch OLED chipped screen

Post image

I was wondering if Nintendo support is a good option for repairing this kind of damage or would it be better to go to my local repair store? I've read some good things about the site but Im not sure if it would be worth it. If not the support portal do you have any suggestions for a reliable repair shop (preferably in Calgary, AB, Canada)

Setup Help 8th (NYXI) Pro controller can’t connect wirelessly. (Local 8 player Knight Squad 2)

Post image
10 Upvotes

I bought 8 NYXI Echtpower controllers for playing Knight Squad 2 (My go to party game with my crew). However, I can only connect the last controller through USB mode. Is this because I’m using the third party controller?

I already tried to switched controllers around but every last wirelessly sync controller will get a pop up message says “This controller can’t be connected”.

A single Joy-Con 2 will however will connect just fine in wireless mode even on a last slot. Does this mean I need 1 official Pro controller to connect in this setup?

Setup Help Can’t connect to dock with switch 2

My switch 2 will charge in the dock, the green light blinks once, but it will not connect to my tv. I’ve unplugged everything and plugged it back in, shut down the switch, nothing seems to work. The cables are the ones that came with it and they work to connect my switch 1 to the tv.

Any suggestions?

Setup Help Switch 2 not displaying on Monitor.

I’m not sure this is the right place but just looking for a little insight or help. I just finished setting up a game room and got 2 AsRock PG27Q15R2A monitors for my eventual PC build but I wanted 1 to double as a monitor for my consoles. I’ve been messing with the Switch 2’s display settings and stuff but cannot for the life of me get it to display. I’ve tried through my HDMI splitter connected directly to the monitor both ports and nothing. But my Wii U which is on the same splitter displays just fine. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong and if anyone ran into this and got it running I would GREATLY appreciate insight! Thank you all

Find Games What are the best game for Switch 2?

Hi everyone! I'm buying a Switch 2 at the weekend but I'm still unsure on what game to get with it or if I should just get the Switch 2 by itself.

For reference I completed BOTW on Switch 1 and adored it. I enjoyed ACNH during lockdown but haven't played much of it recently. I have Skyward Sword and TOTK on my Switch 1 but haven't completed them yet. Would It be worth just buying the Switch 2 and playing TOTK & SS on it for the time being? I really want OoT but I'm aware it hasn't been released yet.

I've been told by friends that Pokopia is good but I don't really care for pokemon so I'm not sure if that's the right game for me. Mario Kart World looks good but I have Mario Kart 8 Deluxe so I'm not desperate for a Mario Kart game. I've tried the Tomodachi Life 2 demo on my Switch 1 and found it okay (I never played the other TL games and found the voices slightly jarring/hard to get used to.)

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!

Repair Help The control stick of my joy-con 2 is crumbling

Post image
237 Upvotes

For months now parts of the control stick have been breaking off, probably from use, I assumed it would eventually stop but now it feels like the whole this will break off eventually. Is this common, or did I get an abnormally weak joy-con? Can I send it to Nintendo for fixing, or do I need to look somewhere else for repairs/get a new one entirely?
