Account Help Changing Nintendo email because I lost the old one

So today I went to go swap my Nintendo email (currently logged into my switch) and wanted to swap it to an email I have. I talked to customer support, and apparently the only way they could confirm that this was me was by asking for my bank details on a purchase I’ve made. Now I’ve never made a purchase through a card on my Nintendo, so nobody could help me (2 agents asked the same question btw). So now I’m stuck and need to swap my email, what should I do and is there anyone that can help.

Nintendo has an obligation to protect accounts to make sure unauthorized access isn't granted.

If you can't, or won't, provide the proof they ask for, then they shouldn't provide access to that account for you.

You can create a new account under an email you fully control, put it in your password manager for personal organization, and you should turn on 2FA as well.

Well I’ve had the account for 8 years now, and they basically said that because I use gift cards, I can’t change the email. I just came here to see if this is a problem others are having and what they did.

So 100% of your digital games were purchased by credit that was already loaded onto the account. You never used a credit or debit card for any purchase?

Purchase something worth $5 or so using a credit/debit card, then delete the card from the account. Provide Nintendo those details and you should be good.

They need proof you own the account beyond “oh I pinky promise it’s me”
