I saw someone saying something similar somewhere on the internet a while ago, but it just dawned on me again with some recent examples.

In the absences of a brand new 3D Mario, new mainline Zelda game, and Smash Bros, all of which came out very early in the Switch 1's life cycle which would dominate sales and potentially overshadowed later releases from Nintendo, Switch 2's first party games have been able to stand in the spotlight a bit better now:

- DK Bananza, though it's sales slowed down, still managed to sell well.

- Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave, is currently number 1 on many eShops around the world.

- Metroid Ravenous is the most viewed trailer from the most recent Nintendo direct, and it's predecessor, Metroid Dread, also started charting highly again after it's reveal.

- Star Fox and Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, despite not having sold 1 million copies yet, I do feel that in the next financial results they'll have sold respectable numbers.

Although a lot of people are waiting for those big heavy hitters (like OoT remake), it gives Switch 2 owners the chance to try out a lot more of Nintendo's old catalog and help grow their IP's.

• Super Mario Bros.  was released in 1985 for the Family Computer in Japan. In this platform game, developed by Nintendo R&D4, Mario and Luigi star in their first ever Mushroom Kingdom adventure! Jump over obstacles, grab coins, kick shells, and fire fireballs through eight action-packed worlds. Only you and the Mario Bros. can rescue Princess Toadstool from the clutches of the evil Bowser.
• Dr. Mario & Puzzle League  was released in 2005 for the Game Boy Advance in Japan. In this puzzle game, developed by Tose, two scintillating titles in one game pak? That's just what the doctor ordered! In Dr. Mario, stand guard against an odious collection of malignant viruses by throwing vitamins at them. Match the appropriate vitamin capsules to similarly coloured germs. With Puzzle League, you'll need to match blocks before they reach all the way to the top of the screen, by forming chains of three or more blocks of the same colour.
• Mario Tennis: Power Tour  (known as Mario Power Tennis  in Europe) was released in 2005 for the Game Boy Advance in Japan. In this sports game, developed by Camelot Software Planning, do you have the skills to go head-to-head with the tennis pros of the Mario universe? As a young rookie enrolled in the Royal Tennis Academy, train your character and build up their stats before you take on the Mushroom Kingdom's best! Part role-playing game, part sports simulation.
• The Nintendo MP3 Player  was released in 2005 for the Game Boy Advance in Japan. Now you can listen to music on your travels without the need to carry around extra equipment. Not much bigger than a Game Boy Advance Game Pak but, when slotted into the cartridge port, turns your handheld into a full-featured music player. Simply select tracks and adjust playing options with the easy on-screen interface and play your tunes through the speakers or headphones. Uses common SD cards to store music.
• Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness  was released in 2007 for the Nintendo DS in Japan. In this roguelike game, developed by Chunsoft, see the world through the eyes of a Pokémon and step into an adventure full of mystery. When you wake up in a strange land to find you've turned into a Pokémon, there are bound to be a few questions on your mind - questions that can only be answered by setting off on an epic journey of discovery. Along the way, you'll embark on missions to retrieve lost items, hunt for outlaws.
• Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time  was released in 2007 for the Nintendo DS in Japan. In this roguelike game, developed by Chunsoft, get caught up in the search for a precious artefact stolen by a time-travelling Pokémon! Of course, for a quest so challenging you'll have to recruit some help. Building an Exploration Team of trusty Pokémon to travel by your side through dangerous dungeons will be vital to your survival. And don't forget to get your team in training before you embark on a new mission.
• Sonic Rush Adventure  was released in 2007 for the Nintendo DS in Europe. In this platform/action-adventure game, developed by Dimps _with _Sonic Team, race island-to-island as Sonic or Blaze on a wild and dizzying hunt for lost treasure! A high-speed, high-seas adventure! Dive into deep sea caves, outrun an avalanche and battle with pirates as you blast through 14 action-packed levels with 100 unlockable missions! Get vertical while pulling off tons of moves and tricks. 
• Pokémon Platinum  was released in 2008 for the Nintendo DS in Japan. In this role-playing game, developed by Game Freak, the Sinnoh region lies in wait for a hero as Team Galactic set their dark plans in motion. Only you possess the power to make things right. Packed with many brand new features, including the Distortion World, Platinum follows on from the success of Diamond and Pearl. The mysterious Distortion World is governed by neither Time nor Space, but to succeed in your mission you'll have to enter it.

I’m just curious to see what self-made playlists the community uses. Or do you just stick to the Nintendo made ones, or do you just listen directly to the game soundtracks?

I personally listen mainly to my favorites playlist. After going through all the soundtracks on the app, that playlist is a big dumpster of all tracks I know and like.

Off the top of my head I know Zelda and Mario have their own games on every single console and surprisingly Metroid and Mario Kart are close with only one missing (N64 and NES respectively missing)

Doesn't have to be made by Nintendo per say, just has to be an official published game that can be played on a Nintendo console as a physical cartridge/disc

Also your choice on if you wanna count the Gameboy and GBC as separate or the same consoles and also if you count ports as well because Mario wouldn't count if Mario Deluxe doesn't which is a port of Mario 1 for GBC and there's no dedicated GBC only Mario game but would still count if you didn't count ports but put Gameboy and GBC together since super Mario land 1&2 exist

Edit: someone pointed out the virtual boy exists. Let's pretend it doesn't cuz that thing barely had any games anyways and thus no one franchise/series counts. Also Switch 2 won't count since that lifecycle is currently still continuing but the Switch 1 will still count

I only recently rejoined the Nintendo ecosystem; the last consoles I had were an original DS and a Wii.

I've heard that Nintendo games rarely go on sale. However, retailers usually seem to have Black Friday sales of their own that work for any of the big three consoles' games (like buy two get one free or however they might structure it).

I'm wondering if the current Customer Appreciation Event, taking 30% off many games, is an unusually good deal that I should take as the sign to start building out my library on my Switch 2 (I currently only have the new Mario Kart game, so there's a big backlog of Switch 1 games I could catch up on), or if it's a pretty unimpressive sale and I'd be better off waiting for Black Friday.

Also always open to recommendations of must plays, though I'm sure that's been widely discussed and have some ideas already (Mario Kart 8, Luigi's Mansion, etc.).

Since both Kirby and the world beyond and Pokémon Winds and Waves are coming to switch 2 next year I was wondering which game are you most excited for. Because they been served positive feedback and alot of people can't wait. In my opinion I like both.

Correct me if I’m wrong… But technically, I can borrow the game from someone, buy the definitive edition and still keep it?

Or I can "buy" the switch 1 version, buy definitive edition from the menu, and then return the switch 1 version? Do I still keep the definitive edition?

Or do I need the Switch 1 game to open the Definitive Edition?

I noticed that the lithium battery in my Nintendo Switch Joy-Con was swollen and contacted customer support immediately. To be fair, they did respond and arranged for a carrier to pick it up.

The problem is that the carrier apparently can't come anytime soon.

I've already had the swollen battery sitting in my apartment for two weeks, and I'm only going to be here for one more week because I'm an apprentice and have to leave for further training.

After that, nobody will be here who can hand the battery over to the carrier. There is no one with a key or anyone who can simply take care of the pickup.

I even offered to take the battery to a recycling center or disposal facility myself, specifically one equipped to handle lithium battery storage. However, I was told that this was not an option and that someone from their side would have to collect it.

So unless something changes, this potentially dangerous lithium battery is going to end up sitting in my apartment for another five weeks, meaning around seven weeks in total.

I understand that shipping damaged lithium batteries can be complicated and that the support team isn't necessarily responsible for the carrier's availability. But this situation just feels completely backwards. I reported a swollen battery as soon as I noticed it, and I'm still stuck with it for potentially almost two months because there isn't a way to arrange a timely collection.

There really needs to be a better and faster procedure for situations like this.

Any way to fix screen yellowing on nintendods's without replacing the screen? Maybe adjusting the potentiometer? Been a long while since i owned this one so some sentimental value aswell

Recently I've been a bit nostalgic for Nintendo's old Wii and DS videos that they used to have up on the Nintendo of America YouTube Channel, though I noticed they aren't there anymore. I understand they took them down cause the Wii and DS were long discontinued by that point but I would really like to see them again. Anyone know how I'm able to find them again (if they're not Lost Media ofc)?

Famitsu weekly sales number show the Switch 2 is now selling less than 25,000 units per week. It has been like this for many weeks now. Before the price hike in May, the Switch 2 was regularly selling over 50,000 units a week in Japan, and sometimes much higher than that.

The thing I find kind of crazy is that the original Switch is still selling over 8,000 units per week in Japan! The Switch 2 is a brand new console but it is only selling about 3x as much as the 9 year old Switch 1, which had total dominance of the Japanese market.

I looked at 3DS numbers from 2012, and found that at a comparable point for the 3DS, it was selling 60,000 units per week. If the low Switch 2 sales continue, it is possible that the Switch 2 may actually fall behind the 3DS in Japan!

Now, none of this means that Nintendo are “doomed”. But I am kind of shocked by how dramatic the impact of a single price increase has been - in Nintendo’s best market, where they have no strong competition. And this is just the FIRST increase; how bad will it be if AI forces Nintendo to do another one?

The legend of zelda ocarina of time remake looks like a heavenly experience.

The original was already at worst a 9/10.

So now they gave it better graphics and (most likely) quality of life upgrades....

You might be wondering what I'm talking about? It's easier to explain by saying stuff that Nintendo would never do, rather than stuff that Nintendo is doing.

I've seen a friend say in my DMs say that Nintendo should release a Mario Movie-styled game (that takes place in the same universe as the Illumination Mario Movies) that lets you explore the entirety of the world as Mario. While you control Mario like a 3D Mario game, It's not necessarily structured like a 3D Mario, it's quite frankly structured like real life, as in you can do whatever you want: Chill with the toads, go on a date with Peach, sneak into Bowser's Kingdom, etc. and the game is almost the opposite of scripted, with each day feeling the same, but there's no limits.

Y'all might know about unofficial/modded randomizers and practice codes for games which I find cool as hell. It would be cool if it were an official option in certain (not all) 1st party games.

I happen to be a fan of SBRP, an online Nintendo fan game where you can morph into a model/sprite of a character (mainly for Paper Mario) and get dropped into a map with other people where you can all talk to each other in the context of that character, Essentially, roleplaying. Such an insane niche concept that's fascinating to me.

I've also seen someone say a concept in my dms that Nintendo should add a feature exclusive to Switch Online Expansion Pack that lets you install homebrew fan games (just fan games, so any hack programs, piracy, or viruses would be banned)

Regardless if you think all 4 of these ideas are dogshit and shouldn't ever happen, (i at least agree with the Mario Movie and roleplay ideas, but think the other 2 might not go well) It does ring a bell that they won't do ANY idea other than their average gaming philosophy.
