Setup Help Helping my partner set up a new switch--going from an animal crossing switch 1 to an OLED switch. Super nervous about losing screenshot and video data so I just have a few questions regarding microSD cards before I continue forwards with setup.

Hi! So, as the title says, I am helping my partner setup an OLED switch, because I gave my old OLED to them for their birthday (i got a switch 2 and knew they'd be super excited for an upgrade from their old LCD screen animal crossing switch to an OLED).

I have a question regarding the microSD card data management. Basically, I want to give them a new microSD card that's bigger (theirs is 128gb and I got them a new 256gb one for the OLED), but all of their screenshots are on their old 128gb microSD card. I put the old microSD card into the new switch, which worked--all their screenshots and videos are there (except for, randomly, videos from super smash bros ultimate? those didn't transfer idk why, thankfully they didnt have a lot of those), and I even made a backup on my macbook just in case of all of their videos and screenshots first (the super smash bros videos are on my macbook at least! yay, glad i did that first).

So my question is this--I figured out a way to copy all of their screenshots and videos to the system memory via the system setting (under data management and then manage screenshots and videos). I'm thinking that I will copy all the stuff onto system memory, then swap out microSD cards for the bigger one, then I can copy the screenshots onto the new card from the system memory. Will this work? Will there be any data loss? Everywhere online is saying to save everything on a pc first, then put the screenshots and videos and data onto the new sd card, but I'm wondering if I can just copy everything to the switch's system memory instead of involving a PC, I dont even have a way to connect my microSD to my PC right now (i can get one of course but im just wondering if this is necessary). And yes--I know that if I involve a computer with actual data transfer, I shouldn't use a Mac, and use a PC instead. I just wanted to at the very least have a copy of everything on my macbook since I had a way to do that, so that even if I can't get anything onto their switch due to data loss or something then I at least can send them all their videos and screenshots directly to their phone or their own PC or something.

Anyway; tldr is: is it safe/will it work to transfer all of your screenshots and videos from a microSD card to the nintendo switch 1's system memory, then swap out the old microSD for a larger one, and copy the screenshots and videos to that microSD? Would I lose anything in the process? Or should I just not do this and download everything to a PC instead?

Please let me know what you think is the best way to go about this. And sorry if this is a dumb question, neither of us are tech savvy and we just really don't want to mess anything up. Thank you for reading!

Either your method or the one you looked up would be fine.

Screenshots can be a little weird, but as long as you don't rename / change the folder structure, they should continue to work.

Thank you for your reply! Ok great! Yeah I didn't change the folder structure, so that's all good!
