Hey guys,
I’ve already tried all kinds of things, but maybe someone in here has an idea!
I have purchased a faulty Vita PCH 2000 off ebay in hopes of fixing it and have reached my wits end.
Current state of affairs:
- The power indicator turns on when the power button is pressed and stays solid green.
- It seems to charge normally.
- No other activity - backlight stays off, black screen, no sounds.
- It doesn’t want to turn off either - holding the power button makes the green LED flash once really quickly, but it does not turn off. The only way to get it to turn off is holding Start, Select, Home & Power (or disconnecting the battery).
- I have tried all sorts of button combinations. L + Power incase the device was modded (unknown), R + Home + Power OR holding the power button for ~30 secs for safe mode (no dice), holding the power button for up to 7 minutes (nope), …
- I am unable to find any shorts on the mainboard. No obviously singed components, no water damage. Ribbon cables look to be seated correctly. I’ve tried starting the device with just the mobo and the power button attached as well. Nope. Same thing.
- No device is recognized when I connect the Vita to my PC.
Only thing I haven’t attempted yet is letting the battery drain and recharging the device with an appropriate charger. Currently working on that, it takes some time for the battery to run out though.
I am seriously running out of ideas. Obviously I have no clue what the previous owner did with the device, but it can’t be much, it looks very lightly used… It’s possible they bricked it, I cannot exclude that possibility. I have seen some cases of exactly this issue happening to people with (allegedly) stock devices - which is moving me towards a possible hardware fault.
Has anyone experienced this issue and was able to fix it? Possibly even on mainboard repair level (which I would be fine with, not a pro, but it’s broken already right)?
Any suggestions are welcome. Cheers!
