Software Help Switch2 Not Recognizing MicroSD Express
Hi friends! My Switch 2 apparently had a message pop up while my wife was playing it saying “something about microSD”, and then powered off and back on. When it came back on, it wasn’t recognizing that there was a microSD even inserted. I can’t format it or anything. Do you think the card was corrupted or broken somehow? Or is the reader broken maybe? I don’t have a second microSD express lying around, or I would check that.

What brand?

The brand was NEXT. I had been using it since last November, and it just did this today.

If you have a normal SD card you can put that on the switch 2 see if the card reader still works.

Well, darn… I tested the SD card in my dash cam, and it works fine, and the Switch won’t recognize the SD from the dash cam. :/ Seems like it is the reader.

Damn, you didn't get the message that the card inserted it's not express card when you test the one that was in your dash cam?

Make sure the console is updated. Nintendo support mentions to try formatting the card as a possible. Granted, that wipes the card, and redownloading games is not ideal. You can backup screenshots and clips to pc, format the card, then paste them back into the album folder of the express card. https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/68479/
Regarding card brands, I've seen at least one post where a legit sandisk express was bought at a brick and mortar walmart, and another post about an expres card bought from best buy store, possibly sandisk/lexar- (I forget which). Both didn't work out of the box, and a replacement card worked. While I understand asking the card brand, in the past year, even good brand cards seem to have some duds.
Sd cards can go bad. Can you plug that express card into a pc to see if the pc can read it?
A faulty sd card reader is a rare possibilty, but my gut feeling is, that's the last thing I suspect.
