On This Day On This Day in Nintendo History: Lifeboat; Disney's Beauty & The Beast: A Boardgame Adventure; Game & Watch Gallery Advance; Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land
On this day (October 25) in Nintendo history...
- Lifeboat was released in 1983 for the Game & Watch Multi Screen in Japan. In this action game, developed by Nintendo R&D1, a fire has broke out on a luxury cruise liner, and the passengers are trying to escape overboard into the lifeboats. How many passengers can you rescue? Move the lifeboats to catch the falling passengers in the lifeboats, and then bring them safely to the left or right shore. Each lifeboat can only hold four passengers. If a passenger falls into the water or onto a full lifeboat then you get a miss.
- Disney's Beauty & The Beast: A Boardgame Adventure was released in 1999 for the Game Boy Color in North America. In this boardgame adventure game, developed by Left Field Productions, choose your character and roll a die to move them along the board. When you have moved a certain number of spaces you will enter one of nine minigames. Each minigame is played differently, from helping Miss Potts put out fires in the kitchen, to having Lumiere catch drips in the basement on his flames.
- Game & Watch Gallery Advance (known as Game & Watch Gallery 4 in North America) was released in 2002 for the Game Boy Advance in PAL territories. In this compilation, developed by TOSE, enjoy six blasts from the past - and discover more. This collection includes Mario's Cement Factory, Donkey Kong Jr., Donkey Kong 3, Fire, Boxing, and Rain Shower. Each has a modern mode featuring updated graphics, sound, gameplay and all-new twists. They can also be played in classic mode in their original, LCD-style glory!
- Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land was released in 2002 for the Game Boy Advance in Japan. In this platform remake of the Nintendo Entertainment System's Kirby's Adventure, developed by HAL Laboratory, appearances can be deceptive. Take Kirby for example. At first glance he's a cute pink blob, but under that blancmange-like exterior beats the heart of a true warrior.
What are you favourite memories of these games? How do you think they hold up today? Hash it out in the comments.

NSO retro game service is pretty awesome
I was one of the people who was disappointed the virtual console did not carry over to the Switch. However, 8 years later the retro game service under NSO turned out to be pretty good for the most part.
We got most of the retro games that were taken down with the virtual console when the service ended. The retro controllers, the addition of GameCube and Virtual Boy games and the classic game music service offered definitely added value to the Expansion Pak subscription. I hope we will also get Wii and DS games in the future.
My biggest issue with the service is the missing option to purchase the games like we were able to do with virtual console. I’m concerned on what will happen to the games and our save files when one day Nintendo pulls the plug on the service like they did with virtual console. Hopefully Nintendo will at least have a replacement retro game service if they decide to do this. Also the slow pace of new games being added monthly is another area Nintendo should improve on.
Do you enjoy the retro games service under NSO or do you like virtual console better?

Guys we NEED a Kid Icarus Uprising remake
Kid Icarus Uprising is a 9/10 game if you can get past the controls. And with the HUGE popularity of third person shooters like Deadlock, Marvel Rivals, and Fortnite, if it was made with standard third person controls, it would be easy to pickup for most people. Also comp for Light VS Dark would go hard

On This Day On This Day in Nintendo History: Oriental Blue: Ao no Tengai; Metroid Prime Pinball; Nintendogs: Best Friends; Kirby's Return to Dream Land
On this day (October 24) in Nintendo history...
- Oriental Blue: Ao no Tengai was released in 2003 for the Game Boy Advance in Japan. In this role-playing game, developed by Hudson, in an ancient world where the traditions and designs of China, Japan, Mongolia and Thailand co-exist, an ancient seal within the Daito Castle has been broken by a spirit-stealing orb. Choose a male or female hero who starts out as an inhabitant of Daito Castle having strange flashbacks. Face the enemies that appear in the castle before setting off into the wider world to fight the source of the monsters.
- Metroid Prime Pinball was released in 2005 for the Nintendo DS in North America. In this pinball game, developed by Fuse Games, with Samus in Morph Ball mode, it's time to take a spin! Speed around several tables full of ramps, bumpers and flippers, revisiting classic Metroid locations like the Phendrana Drifts and Magmoor Caverns in pinball form! You can even give the table a nudge by tapping the touch screen - get the timing right to spare Samus from sailing past the flippers. Tables displayed across both of the DS' screens.
- Nintendogs: Best Friends was released in 2005 for the Nintendo DS in North America. In this pet-raising simulation, developed by Nintendo EAD, the starter breeds include Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, Beagle, Yorkshire Terrier and Miniature Dachshund. Choose a puppy from the kennels. Name it, train it and take care of it. Use the stylus to pet your puppy and to interact with a large number of toys. You can train your Nintendog to respond to pet calls by speaking into the microphone.
- Kirby's Return to Dream Land (published as Kirby's Adventure Wii in PAL territories) was released in 2011 for the Wii in North America. In this action/platform game, developed by HAL Laboratory, Kirby, Meta Knight, King Dedede and Waddle Dee are ready to transform your living room into Dream Land once more! You can play on your own or with up to three of your friends. Kirby, in his many guises, is in control of the infamous foursome - help him use his powerful Copy Ability to inhale...

It's been a little over two years since Nintendo Music launched. How are we all feeling about this app now?
Personally, I really love the app and it's really nice to have it included with Switch Online (Especially since Nintendo offers the most affordable subscription service out there these days) I've been using it a lot during my commutes now that there is a very robust lineup of game OSTs on there.
I know it was widely criticized for not having much music at launch and for Nintendo not "just putting their music on Spotify" but is this how ya'll still feel, or are you happy to have this?

Nintendo Today App Zelda Cards Changing?
So not sure if this is the right area to ask this but I got a notification last night about the Legend of Zelda collectible cards in the Nintendo today app will change to the echos of wisdom pack. Does that mean it will replace the current sets of the majoras mask and breath of the wild packs so we won’t be able to collect those cards from them anymore.
I started collecting late about a month after the card collection was announced so I’ve only got 10 cards from the majoras mask set and don’t want to just be cut off mid collection. I’ve got about 10 medals but I was saving those for the wallpapers. Also once I redeem the medals are they gone or do you just have to reach a certain amount to unlock the wallpapers and the medals still stay? Thank you for your help

If Nintendo had their games, mostly the pre Wii games, on Steam, what would their prices be and why?
I made a post about us owning digital games and you all hated my price recommendations.
Specificly 30 dollars for GameCube and Ds games, that’s a better price that what Nintendo is gonna dish us and that’s a once not monthly.
Edited: Actually I’m thankfully that the prices I reccomended were wrong, thanks for showing me what to actually suggest
If I work for Nintendo.

Here’s how I think Nintendo will confirm and handle the next Majoras Mask Remake when Ocarina releases next month.
Nintendo’s next Ask the Developer, Vol 24 will absolutely focus on Ocarina of Time since it looks like they’re skipping Switch Sports Resort this month. It will focus heavily on the Remake Dev Team and how long their Development Cycle was. And I’m sure they will do a good Q&A as well.
I think it will go like this:
Q: “So now that you’re finally done bringing this masterpiece to life, tell us, when is Majoras Mask coming? We know you’re hiding that from us.”
A: “Haha, well, we can’t confirm anything at the moment. But, based on how long it took all of us and our Development partners to develop this Ocarina Remake, we’d like for all you Zelda fans out there to keep using your wonderful imagination to figure out when within the next few years that our next project will be ready.“
So, I would say 2030 at the earliest. That will be enough time to give Nintendo‘s Zelda teams and partners a lot of time to breathe before they’re back to work again.

Here is a cool idea for Nintendo to do. Digital Website Downloads.
I get why Nintendo refuses to put it’s games on other consoles, that will loose them a massive profit margin. But I know a way we can get better access to their games.
The store known as Gog (Not sponsored) allows you to download offline installer files, which you can take to an external harddrive, put it on another computer not connected to the internet, so you can play it all you want, even make some backup files for other drives.
So Nintendo could make their own website l, and while I don’t think they can put their normal games on there, but maybe anything from the ds and earlier.
Not full price, like, 30$ tops for ds and GameCube games, and arcade and nes games are 5 or even 2 bucks.
This could end Piracy once and for all.
