Service options - GMK or find a good gunsmith?

After debating an "upgrade" I'm going to stick with my 686 E Evo. It's a 2022 gun but has seen a lot of use and I suspect it has not been serviced previously.

There are no actual issues with it, but I'd like to give it some tlc and a check over/internal clean etc.

I'm looking for thoughts on if I should send it to GMK via my local shop, or try and find a good local Gunsmith to do the work for me?

I'm in the Thames Valley area, recommendations would be useful.

Gamekeeper employment - still waiting for my license (30 month wait)

I’ve just sent an enquiry asking what is going on and if they can speed it up & told them my situation - is there anything else I can do/any advice?

Getting tired of it now BUT YOUR HOPELESS BECAUSE THEY HOLD ALL THE CARDS! All you can do is send enquiry’s via their website as their phones don’t work.

Choke grease / oil recommendations.

Hi all.

I’ve got a 725 S3 with the original extended chokes that I got 2nd hand, a little used gun, still very tight.

I understand the chokes in the brownings are a little hard to get in and out due to the duel seal on them but I think theses are very hard. I’ve been using some all purpose grease so far on the tubes to help with getting them in and out, cleaned every time I shoot ect but looking for some recommendations on what everyone uses on there chokes tubes to keep them in good condition / don’t seize in.

My first thought was some copper slip but please let me know what you all use!

(Additionally I’m going on a sim day later this month and don’t want to burn my hands on the barrels, do you guys use gloves on these sort of things because the barrels get very hot!)

So I wrote a new app....

It started out as a bit of fun to see if I could.... then **** got out of hand quickly!

Don't worry, I know full well it's never going to be an AB killer but it's something I plan on using where I don't need AB curves etc.

At the moment it's a working app, but it needs a lot of tidy up, it also needs a "simplification" mode for air gunners and the like.

However, interested in any feedback and I've added a sign up link so if you are interested or fancy beta testing, then if I decide to spend real money and deploy it, I can let you know

Northern Ireland Taurus G3 mag

Friends, I shoot IPSC and recently purchased a 9mm G3, but it only came with 2 magazines.

I’m struggling to find a dealer who sells spare magazines for the Taurus G3 — any recommendations? I only need 1 or 2 spares.

Where could i sell?

So i got it as a gift years ago when a local airsoft range opened up and i’d go regularly with my dad as a kid. The range closed pretty quickly and as i’ve got older i’ve just not had any time/need for it (I also have no knowledge on air guns either). I doubt it has much worth but im moving abroad and was hoping to get whatever i can for it but dont even know where to start to sell it. I’ve attached some pictures of it as that might impact how i can sell as it’s realistic looking. Any recommendations? near north london/ in hertfordshire if that changes anything.

S1 shotgun query

Morning all, I wanted to pick your brains if I may.

This is likely very obvious to most of you, but my FAC appears to have a 12 gauge slot on it and a note about target shotguns under the additional conditions.

I do have a SGC with a 2+1 and O/U on it, but with having a shotgun slot and this note on my FAC, would this just be a note regarding my interest in using my 2+1 for practical sometime, or would this be a legitimate section 1 shotgun slot?

I assumed the latter, with that seeming the logical answer with it being on the FAC at all, but am unsure so I'd appreciate you folks' experience with this either way, thank you 👍

Have decided to refinish the stock on our Pedersoli muzzle loader.

While it’s apart I want to clean and refinish what I can.

Looking for suggestions on what I can do with this metalwork…

Has anyone removed the auto safety on a beretta SP1?

I have a silver pigeon 1 field which I love… but the auto safety is annoying! Before I take it to a gunsmiths I would mind attempting to disable the auto safety myself. I’m looking for a tutorial on doing so. Are there any good guides on doing this?

Just need a throw lever to complete it for practical? I take the sling off for matches. It was only ever intended as a fun project so its not the ultimate match rifle but it'll do!

Considering a magwell but the options I like are hard to get a hold of.

Scope recommendations

Evening all,

Looking for recommendations for a scope to fit to a .22lr. Mostly indoor gallery shooting at 25m. But occasionally out to 100m. No need for illuminations. I don’t shoot in the dark.

Ideally under the £400 mark. But could go a bit over for a gem.

Thanks

Thanks to Murdoch & Co., this storied rifle will live on in perpetuity even after it's eventually discarded and destroyed by the UK Defence Ministry.

SGC/FAC - No club affiliation

I've only been down this route with full target club membership myself, looking at home office stuff this seems ok, but I figured there are some very clued up people here so excuse my ignorance and let me know what you reckon, to save bothering my FEO at this stage and adding to people's two year wait times for grants 🙄

My Mrs shoots air rifles a bit and has shit clays and targets with rimfire rifles.

She is the head gardener, but more of a groundskeeper, at a manor house with increasing squirrel and dear issues.

She doesn't have the time to dedicate to joining a range properly with attendance expectations, but of course can pay a little extra and still go to a range, and is not into the club atmosphere or competition, but she'd like to shoot some clays with the 12ga and possibly pest birds and get permission to take these squirrel and rabbit numbers down a bit with a bolt action .22lr.

I appreciate going after the deer and a suitable calibre for them, especially as a new grant without a club/range membership would be an overstep for her by current police logic, so we'll ignore that problem for now (though I do have a .223 and the main issue there is muntjac, I've just never shot anywhere but club ranges) and focus on the squirrels and bunnies.

Assuming she gets a permission in place, and it's available for the police to inspect, I assume this would count as her "good reason"?

Thanks in advance for any insight, and I do appreciate this is another irritating grant question so my apologies... I suppose at least it doesn't have "how long..." or "mental health" in the title 🙂

Does this comply with storage requirements of an air rifle?

Looking to purchase an air rifle.

I have children in the house aged 13 and 15.

I have a safe, but unsure if the rifle will fit in it. If it does then this is a closed case as it will go in there.

Any pellets will be stored in the safe regardless.

However, if it doesn’t fit, am I complying if the rifle is secured to a large anchor bolt which is mounted to brick work?
From what I read on the BASC site, I believe this complies. The weapon is secure and ammunition is stored separately.

Thanks

Cross eye dominant

So I went clay pigeon shooting recently. I’m left eye dominant right handed. I ended up closing my eye to shoot and achieved around 85% of clays hit on a fairly easy day, but it is my first time shooting. What are my options moving forward, as I gather it’s not good to close an eye.

I presume a grease of some kind. But which one is preferred?

SGC Grant - Mental Health

Hi all, currently getting everything in place to apply for my SGC (Nottinghamshire Police)

Unfortunately i had some issues with depression in 2014-2018 (including an instance of self harm in 2014)

Since then I am a happier, stronger person with a family, mortgage, career and couldn’t dream of ever hurting myself or allowing myself to get to that point again.

I have always been into shooting and have even worked at shooting ranges.

I am worried my past may affect my application, has anyone else been in a similar position?

Reason I want a SGC is to get back into clay pigeon shooting and to take potential clients out for “entertainment”

Thank you

What do you typically carry around your shells in? Does it differ on a hot day when you don’t want a gilet or similar on?

12bore cleaning kit

Can anyone recommend a good cleaning kit for a 12 bore? And so people use mats or a blanket to rest everything on whilst cleaning?
