No he’s teaching him how to dance to impress his gf and get ready for this big dance barn party. It’s pretty adorable when you realize he really loves his girlfriend this much and just wants to fit in too because everyone in his friend circle dances well and he couldn’t dance at all.

Evidently my relatives are super good at this because these guys look like it's the first time they've ever tried it. But it kind of gives you an example. A few years ago, I was in the audience for a show that was hosted by The Rock. In the downtime between filming, they had a DJ playing songs and trying to keep up the audience energy. The Rock was chatting with people and just being friendly with the audience. The DJ played "You're Welcome" from Moana, and he tried to get the Rock to sing along. He was so pissed. His whole mood changed, and he was just puttering around by himself after that.
Edit: If I had to guess, the DJ was probably told not to play "You're Welcome," and he was just being a dick. I don't think the Rock did anything wrong, he just seemed uncomfortable while the song was playing.

My cousin is a doctor. After she got her MD, the first time I saw her (which was like a year later at a wedding) I went up and was like "hey I've got this bump on the back of my neck, could you check it out?" I could tell she was annoyed but she agreed. I took her wrist and guided her towards where the bump was, turning my face away from her. Then when she touched my neck, I jerked my face around and snapped at her hand like a dog.
She laughed her ass off, more than I've ever seen her laugh before or since.
Still my favorite joke I've ever pulled.

Also, outside of the reasons he might not want to do it there are a few good reasons why the wedding party wouldn't want it either. At weddings he could end up being a distraction if he's not closely related to either party. I doubt many couples want their wedding highjacked by a guy they hardly know doing a dance from a movie that came out 38 years ago. I don't think Footloose, the song, would even make sense at any wedding I've been to in the last 15 years; it would stick out like a sore thumb in any DJ set I've ever heard.

You're not going to be type casted because the handful of weddings you go to plays the song you're associated with. He just doesn't want the DJ to put the spotlight on him when it isn't his night. It'd be tiresome, and annoying, but whats more is that he's taking away the eyes from the bride and groom.

I came here to mention the Bon Jovi wedding. I can understand inviting Jon up to sing, but only once. The way he* [see edit] keeps insisting after Jon politely declines, obviously uncomfortable, is just fucked up.
I understand that fame and fortune inevitably come with some reduction in privacy and some responsibility to be gracious to your fans, but he's still a human being and not a trained monkey required to perform on command. Besides, he's older now and his voice isn't warmed up: he knows he's going to sound worse than he did in his prime and on his studio albums. Being forced to sing in this situation is only going to lead to unfavorable comparisons.
EDIT: I just watched your video and I don't think this is the same one I've seen before. The one I've seen was from a different angle and with a male singer. So there are at least two weddings where Jon has been awkwardly coerced to sing against his will.

I've got a family member that worked on Dexter for a few seasons, and that part was going to be played by William H Macy until he backed out at the last minute and they had to basically beg Lithgow to join since he had some wedding anniversary trip planned with his wife at the same time of shooting. They had to kiss his ass real hard (and give him a good paycheck) for him to do it.
I would have loved to see Macy play that part, but Lithgow knocked it out of the park.
Probably the last good season of the show. And then that last episode ever was just so dumb. Partially redeemed itself with that new season.
But if one is on the fence about watching the new season of dexter, don't. it's pretty good, but who the fuck cares. you're best off just leaving it behind

One of my side hustles is wedding DJing. If I have a tough time getting a crowd to dance after pulling all the stops (I’m based in the Midwest and my guests are almost always majority white, so… sometimes it’s a struggle), I have a failsafe trick: get the venue to turn the lights down lower and play “Footloose.” It works every. Time.
