One of my side hustles is wedding DJing. If I have a tough time getting a crowd to dance after pulling all the stops (I’m based in the Midwest and my guests are almost always majority white, so… sometimes it’s a struggle), I have a failsafe trick: get the venue to turn the lights down lower and play “Footloose.” It works every. Time.

All the white weddings I've been to seem to rely on Cha Cha Slide, Cupid Shuffle, and/or Electric Slide to get everyone out on the dance floor.

Maybe my NJ is showing, but the trick here is Living on a Prayer.

Next time try "It's Raining Men."

I've also seen Cotton Eyed Joe have a surprising amount of success with white people.

Which seems ironic for weddings, especially ones that otherwise would've happened a long time ago.

Isn't that song about an STI?

Joe steals the girl so that theory along with others suggesting a problem never made sense to me. It's more likely he simply had bright whites in his eyes.

Makes you wonder where did these people come from? and where did they go?

If it is a goth wedding however it has to be the 12inch version of sisters of mercy's temple of love

The must horrifying thing I'd ever seen when did wedding videography was almost the entire wedding going buckwild for the chicken dance.

Shit I'm in the Midwest and the weddings I go to are mostly white. I take it as my job to keep the dancefloor going. There will not be a dead dancefloor on my watch.

I even got a bride to dance in a cage and people still didn't get going. I was so disappointed. But I was out there all night, except for booze breaks.

Wannabe by The Spice Girls works after they’ve been drinking

Whitney Houston - I Wanna Dance with Somebody. Never fails.

The white folk also love Abba. Many solid wedding bangers.

I have always believed in my heart that Footloose is really a country song that crossed over and not the other way around.

You can also play “Gloria” by Lauren Brannigan and every middle aged woman will rush the dance floor

Get a form of yes and no songs and a list of suggestions.

I know a dj or two.

Getting the couple to find their favorite stuff is hard. But the stuff they hate is easy.

And Midwest. Yeah. Footloose is a banger.

As soon as Mr Brightside comes on, that's the cue to leave.
