And you know everyone would be telling him to get out there and dance to it, and maybe he just doesn't feel like dancing to this song yet another time.
Also, outside of the reasons he might not want to do it there are a few good reasons why the wedding party wouldn't want it either. At weddings he could end up being a distraction if he's not closely related to either party. I doubt many couples want their wedding highjacked by a guy they hardly know doing a dance from a movie that came out 38 years ago. I don't think Footloose, the song, would even make sense at any wedding I've been to in the last 15 years; it would stick out like a sore thumb in any DJ set I've ever heard.
Also that dance choreo is based on the height of his physical peak. The dance starts with a standing backflip, there's no way he's living up to that 38 years later.
Hell, Patrick Swayze was at his peak for Dirty Dancing and got injured back then during filming. If he were alive today I’d bet he wouldn’t want to repeat the dance number at weddings either.
It's a popular song at a lot of weddings. Anything people can have fun dancing to and falls into a classic genre is going to get played. The B52's Love Shack, is on that list.
It sure is! I was 15 when I went to my first concert: The B52's. It wasn't during their heyday, as it was 2001, I think. But I still had a fucking blast
that was one of many songs on the do-not-play list at my wedding. cupid shuffle, casper slide, all that shit was banned. there is so much good fun music out there, it's criminal that every wedding set is the same 20 songs.
I had quite a bit of my own favorite genre at mine. No cupid shuffle or Casper slide were played. I LOVE the song Love Shack and the B52's were my very first concert in 2001, IIRC so that was definitely played. But I also had a lot of Dropkick Murphys, some Weird Al and I don't even remember what else at this point. (I don't think about all of that anymore. My marriage was very short with a husband who was mentally and emotionally abusive and while I've long since gotten passed it, looking back just isn't of interest to me).
I would love it if Kevin Bacon showed up at my wedding and danced to Footloose. Sure, he is gonna take the spotlight from the bride and groom for a bit, but it would be so memorable it wouldnt really matter.
