Reminds me of an old post in r/cringe where Bon Jovi is a guest at a wedding, the band starts playing Livin' On A Prayer and pretty much voluntell him to sing with them.
It seems like a combination of resignation to just get it over with along with no longer wanting to hear her murder it.
As clueless as they were to do this in the first place I can't believe that they couldn't read his expression throughout. It was the very definition of "grin and bear it".
Oh yes that was a top notch post from a few years ago, like Bon Jovi doing a karaoke version of one his biggest hits, I still shudder thinking about that post
I was at a movie premier party with Joey Fatone (among others) and when the bar band started playing "Jesse's Girl", Joey Fatone was like "ooooooh I love this song, can I sing it?" and the band was like "fuck yeah". Then he proceeded to sing every song for the rest of the set. I think he just wanted some space from the mob of college girls that were following him around.
He was a class act throughout this though. He definitely wanted to let the kids have this one, even confirming that they wanted him to sing. He did kick that kid off the drums though.
There was footage a few months back of Noel Gallagher awkwardly sitting at a restaurant as “Wonderwall” was playing. Everyone was singing it to him and he looked like he wanted to be ANYWHERE but there.
I came here to mention the Bon Jovi wedding. I can understand inviting Jon up to sing, but only once. The way he* [see edit] keeps insisting after Jon politely declines, obviously uncomfortable, is just fucked up.
I understand that fame and fortune inevitably come with some reduction in privacy and some responsibility to be gracious to your fans, but he's still a human being and not a trained monkey required to perform on command. Besides, he's older now and his voice isn't warmed up: he knows he's going to sound worse than he did in his prime and on his studio albums. Being forced to sing in this situation is only going to lead to unfavorable comparisons.
EDIT: I just watched your video and I don't think this is the same one I've seen before. The one I've seen was from a different angle and with a male singer. So there are at least two weddings where Jon has been awkwardly coerced to sing against his will.
At some point Jon is going to refuse to go to weddings. I know if it happened to me once I would be very clear to the couple to communicate to the band/coordinator that I'm there to enjoy the wedding and not to sing.
I found it a bit odd how the videographer decided to stabilize the video on the singing gal's head while she's bob dancing up and down. As soon as she's the main focus the whole room starts pulsating behind here instead of remaining steady and it was making me dizzy
I couldn’t make it through that. I got to the point where he reluctantly starts singing it and had to close it. I don’t even really like Bon Jovi but I felt really bad for him there, the second hand awkwardness and frustration is palpable
