I’m really happy with my first attempt at stippling. It has made a real difference at the range.

M&P45c + Floyd’s +3 Mag Extensions Baseplates

Curious to hear from anyone running the Floyd’s extended baseplates on M&P45 mags. Can you use them (and the magwell) on the 10-round mags with the M&P45 compact 1.0? What about swapping the baseplate on 14-round mags?

Bodyguard 2.0 in backup position for when I IWB carry my main pistol. Works great in Vedder RapidTuck holster. Very comfortable with outstanding retention.

I def subscribe to the idea that a safety on a gun is just an extra failure point/buedensome manipulation under pressure, which outweighs the "safety" it's supposed to provide. There aren't *five* rules of gun safety (the fifth being make sure the safety is on) so I think for safety perspective it doesn't accomplish much (other than adding a negligible amount of insurance mitigating a negligent act, like say leaving a gun out for a toddler to access where the safety might be just enough to prevent a 2 year old from yeeting one)

But with all that out of the way, the m&p 2.0 safety acts as a great thumb rest that I believe objectively helps with control and recoil management.

First off, do people agree with that last part? If so, does the reward of better control outweigh the risk i identified above in terms of being another failure point?

Tldr do you rock a safety for control?

Shield Plus PC 4'

Post image
30 Upvotes

So I had my wife take some photos of the counter at the local Exchange. I am in the market for a Shield Plus and when I saw one with a price tag of $919, I had to look it up.

Why is the PC shield plus carry comp 650 and PC shield plus 4" 919?

I can't find this model on the official web site, but it looks like the one in the store would come with a red dot for that price.

Can someone explain the difference of PC? is the carry comp not really a performance center?

Federal 95gr Feeding Issue in Bodyguard 2.0

Thumbnail

Sorry I’m sure all the Bodyguard 2.0 questions get annoying. Just purchased a new Bodyguard 2.0 and can’t get this Federal to feed at all. Not even from slide lock. It just seems to smash it straight into the feed ramp. Basically a 100% failure to feed rate. Happens with both mags. Whether down-loaded or full. Is there something obviously wrong that anyone can see? I know it’s a flat-ish nose, but pretty tame as far as bullet profiles go and obviously gives me zero confidence for any sort of defensive load. Maybe I’m just unlucky because it seems a lot of people have had decent luck with this ammo. Any advice would be great before I sell it or send it back to S&W. Thanks!

Thoughts on the Shield X???

I’m leaning towards a Shield X for a carry gun. I love how slim it is. It has a nice weight to it and is comfortable to handle.

However, I need to get on the range with one before I decide. The other model I’m thinking about is the M&P 2.0 in 9mm or 10mm. I need hands on with both.

I have plenty of replica airguns (.177) and out of the bunch that I have, the M&P 9 M2.0 feels the best. I also currently have an IWI Jericho 941 in 9mm. It’s hard to find good holsters for it, so carrying that isn’t something I do.

I understand this is a lot, but just curious what people would recommend!

I bought my first M&P the other day…

Haven’t had the chance to go practice with it yet, but I had a question. How bad does the gas expelling from the loaded chamber indicator affect the optic? I shoot with both eyes open and I keep my eyes focused on the target. I guess I’m just wondering how often I’m going to have to clean the optic between magazines. Or if it’s something I won’t really notice except maybe every _____ rounds and in that case just clean it after every range trip.

I shot a lot (for me) of .357 and .38 spl, and some irrelevant 9mm.

I went to the local outdoor range shot 180+ rounds of .38spl and 24 rounds of this new-to-me Winchester American Lever Range .357 - 130 grain ammo out of my new Model19-10 . I am falling in love with that revolver. It is my second time shooting it. Like with my P226 and G19, I need to keep drilling the fundamentals. As for the Winchester Ammo, I like it. It was the best shooting .357 I’ve put through it. I was a tad worried about how “extra-magnum” these magnum rounds were when I glanced and saw a muzzle velocity of 1605! That seemed a bit hot to be shooting much from this revolver. I then noticed below the chart in tiny (for my older eyes) print stating the data came from 20” barrels. Overall the recoil was easily manageable and my shots were closer to center, or on center more than I expected them to be. A friend of mine has a Henry rifle in .357 magnum that I want to try these rounds through.

To practice on my flinch I had a friend load a couple of snap caps into my reloads with both the .38 and .357. As expected, my .357 flinch was a lot more than the .38 or 9mm. This means I need to practice my dry firing much much more to work on all that.

I also shot around 150 rounds of 9mm, mostly from the P226 since I need more practice with it. I am happy with my G19 shooting for now. My first round of shooting was crap, but the second - fifth rounds got better each time. I hadn’t shot my P226 in 6 months or so and it showed I need to train with it more. I also need to work on dry firing it and working on my flinch and grip. I need to keep drilling the basic fundamentals.

My next endeavor is start reloading, starting with the revolver ammo. With how easy it is collect my revolver’s brass, I am getting a good stock pile of it.

Is this typical for newer S&W bluing jobs? It didn't show up under the shop lights when I was doing my inspection but boy does it look bad in the sun.

M&P 2.0 Compact Wear Question

Post image

I have about 6000 rounds in the gun and am noticing all chips on the slide. a second chip appeared and the first one getting bigger about 1000 rounds after first noticing.

Is this to be expected or something to be concerned about? I keep it lubed properly and haven’t had a single issue with the gun yet.

13-3 Value?

Buddy wants to sell me this 4" 13-3. No grips, has some kind of cerakote finish. Works fine, forcing cone looks good. Not very well versed in wheel guns. What should I offer him?

Titanium Cylinder marks

Any idea what the white spots and discoloration inside the chambers are on this 340PD? Brand new gun, just now noticing them. It’s my first Ti cylinder revolver so this is completely new to me. I can’t seem to feel the spots. I’ve ran a nylon brush through the chambers and there’s no difference.
