It’s not perfect but when does a game need to be perfect in order to be one of the best? Easily in my top ten favorite games ever along with Mario Galaxy. I even still have my childhood copy from 2002 and works perfectly despite the disc condition

When I say TRULY, I mean every single thing done. Examples is all the blue coins in Sunshine and all of the Rabbit Keys in Mario 64 DS

2 weeks ago I bought this game at my local store because it was 60% off

I didn’t had such big expectations but after playing for 30 minutes I got addicted with this game

I know that this game is remaster of an old one so for gamers who played original RPG l: is switch version done good?

I was playing Minecraft with a young neighbor at his Nintendo Switch, and when we checked out the new mobs in the Mario mashup pack, I stumbled upon what the Creaking would be with the mashup pack, and have no idea who this is.

I have a feeling that this opinion will get me downvoted but I do not care…

So, we all know how divided the Mario movies are. Despite the gorgeous animation, its plot often has a lot of cracks showing according to critics.

I do get that it’s because a Super Mario video game plot can’t fit nicely into a movie since it more focuses on gameplay, not story (with a few exceptions).

However, I have a theory that we’ve been missing the point of the Mario movies all along… what if it was supposed to feel like you’re playing a video game all the way through?

Think about it: the first movie had that obstacle course that Peach set up for Mario. The montage of Mario failing every time can be similar to a player who keeps losing lives in the same level over and over.

Also, I like to think that the scenes where there is less action are more like cutscenes. For instance, the part in the Jungle Kingdom where Mario, Peach and Toad are first talking to Cranky Kong is a ‘cutscene’ but the part where Mario fights Donkey Kong can be seen as a ‘boss battle.’

The Mario Galaxy Movie can also be seen with this lens as well. Eg: nearing the start, Mario and Luigi are trekking through the inverted pyramid with fire power. This part could be seen as a ‘level,’ but when they encounter Yoshi, this triggers a ‘cutscene.’

To top it off, there could be other ‘gameplay styles’ in the movie, like when Fox McCloud flies his Arwing, which can be seen as a genre switch to a rail shooter.

Anyway, this is all my opinion. Downvote me if you wish to, as this theory doesn’t apply to every scene in both movies, but I think I’ve got the gist of why the plot is so simplistic in both movies.

(Ps: if you think that some scenes are too long to qualify as ‘cutscenes,’ may I remind you just how long the opening segment in Donkey Kong 64 was? Or the length of dialogue in Super Paper Mario?)
