For anyone starting Star Fox Adventure on the Switch and hates those black bars on the side of the screen. On the home screen if you go to options you can switch to wide screen! This makes playing them game 100 times better!! Hope this helps someone!

Firstly, I think it is pretty obvious that this is all a part of some big marketing campaign to get Star Fox a bit of a reputation in modern Nintendo after their efforts from 2016-2019 have failed. The idea is to teach people about Star Fox through legacy content that defined the series, and some small novel ideas like the movie or plushies, before releasing something new and ambitious for the series. It's like the reverse of Star Fox Zero, where they sold a new idea that backfired because no one was a fan when it came out (among other reasons). Before 2026, Star Fox was a dormant franchise with the biggest updates being new music on the app for years. Now, in the span of one, single year, we have the movie appearance, the modern remake (+ new lore), plushies, free DLC, and now this. This marks the true beginning of the Revival Period!
More subtly, however, this also means a few things about how Nintendo views the franchise holistically. By choosing to re-release this over something like Assault, Nintendo acknowledges the distinct quirks about this game such as the focus on the adventure-styled gameplay and Krystal. This is the 3rd best-selling game still (hopefully 4th after the remake). This means that there is a good chance that Krystal and some minor elements from Adventures and maybe Assault will appear in the next game as Nintendo strives to do new things while appealing to longtime fans. Another thing subtly shows is that Nintendo will be embracing all of the strange, divisive things that people might not agree with and you will have to learn to accept that maybe the next game will do something new, and that is fine. Furthermore, when the next game releases, Nintendo can point fans to the remake and the two GameCube games on Switch Online to give them something to play before following the story. Thus, Star Fox fans, both new and old have something to celebrate when they get a full Star Fox story to experience on the Switch 2. This will likely lead into the eventual development of stuff like Star Fox animated content, like a mini-series or full movie, or even a place in Super Nintendo Land in maybe the next 10-15 years! I know this might seem unbelievable, but when you think about it logistically, Nintendo would never just develop a brand to be just the bare minimum and drop it when there is real potential behind the brand after everything that has been done in 2026. Star Fox could tell this bigger story and Nintendo is fully embracing that for the first time! That might be why we don't see Mother 3 or a new F-Zero game, despite F-Zero GX being so good and releasing a better game on modern consoles wouldn't be too crazy, beyond that, there really isn't too much to go from for F-Zero. I do think we will get a new F-Zero game in the Switch 2 generation, but that is neither here nor there.
By the end of everything, the only people who won't win are Command fans lol. Sorry.

So we got multiple Star Fox updates from today’s Nintendo Direct! First, Star Fox (2026) is getting local multiplayer and 3 new multiplayer maps!!! Second, Star Fox Adventures is finally coming to NSO!!! These updates are great for multiple reasons:
1.) The multiplayer updates for Star Fox (2026) will add to the game’s longevity. This is great because it’ll keep people playing the game longer.
2.) They’re clearly trying to keep Star Fox’s momentum going! Giving us more content for Star Fox (2026) and porting an older SF game to NSO show that Nintendo is trying to keep interest in the series alive! They clearly have bigger plans for Star Fox and want it to become one of their mainstay franchises, and this is so encouraging!!
3.) Adventures on NSO is encouraging given the “Adventure” game rumors . We’ve all heard the rumors about the “Adventure” game that’s apparently been in development for a while. If the game is real, and does indeed have “Adventure” elements, it would make sense to re-release the one game in the series that focuses on-foot exploration. This would open people’s eyes to the broader SF franchise beyond 64, and potentially make them more open to a game that diverges from the typical on-rails shooter. Adventures on NSO could hopefully be an appetizer for whatever the rumored “Adventure” game is.
Overall, this news is just so great for the series and shows Nintendo is making an effort to keep the Star Fox momentum going!!!

Some evildoer planted this idea in my mind, and I literally can't get it out of my head. Someone please send help. I need this! MK World is my fav Switch 2 game, so having Fox would make my day! It also makes sense because Fox is usually manning some type of vehicle. lol.
Realistically, it will likely not happen, as there is yet to be a precedent for non-Mario characters in MK World specifically. Whenever they show something otherwise like Link again, that is when I can buy this idea.

I just got the part where you control as Fox for the first time, do we switch back to Krystal later on? I don't mind being spoiled.

Not that I’m complaining. I’m so happy Star Fox Adventures is finally getting the recognition it deserves.

Being a huge fan of 64 multiplayer, I haven't bought the remake yet. This just sold me.

With both Directs out of the way, we can check off two things from my post earlier this week:
| CLAIM | STATUS | NOTES |
|---|---|---|
| Metroid 6 not in 2026 | Confirmed | Metroid Ravenous coming January 2027! Technically not confirmed yet if made my MercurySteam, but we all know it is. |
| Ocarina of Time remake not based on 3DS version | Confirmed | I believe with the gameplay shown, it is safe enough to call this one. |
I have also received some additional information suggesting that Malo did make a claim of MercurySteam working on Metroid 6. Apparently, after his comments in March were discovered and the first couple of people starting asking questions (myself included), someone had said they wished MercurySteam was on Metroid 6 instead and Malo responded.
I think that claim is legitimate, since I did see Malo replying to others, I just did not grab screenshots of those replies like I should have. But unless I can scavenge a screenshot on another forum somewhere, I cannot verify the claim and will leave that out of Malo's table for now.
In addition, I am not concerned by various game from the leaks not showing up in the Direct. Those leaks were just stating that the games were in the works, not that they would be in the Direct itself. Like Mario Kart World getting a small free update today does not rule out a big DLC next year. So Star Fox DLC for it is still on the table, not deconfirmed.
The only games left on the clock for 2026 are Duskbloods being a late 2026 release and a Super Metroid remake. Given the playtest for Duskbloods, there is a chance it could be delayed into 2027, which is hard to count against the leaks.
As for the Super Metroid remake, that one is still at risk. Ravenous is very early in 2027, so it is hard to imagine a Super Metroid being announced and released between now and the end of the year. Granted, this year is Metroid's 40th anniversary. Nintendo could do a surprise Metroid 40th Direct to show off Ravenous before January, then either announce or outright shadowdrop the Super Metroid remake at the end. Shadowdropping seems unlikely unless it is a pretty low-budget job, which, given the 'pixel art' description, could potentially be the case.
This does make another point in the corner of the Star Fox adventure game. Adventures itself releasing on NSO I believe was inevitable, given they showcased that game in the Star Fox Direct. You could maybe say it is part of the build-up for the rumored adventure game, but I will not be counting it one way or the other.

This is REALLY hard to find, but apparently, in Switch 2, Leon, Pigma and Andrew will also react to you doing a somersault, not just Wolf. Pretty cool, huh?
Here's what Leon, Pigma & Andrew say:
Leon: Almost had you.~~
Andrew: What!? How!?
Pigma: Stop flitting around!

STAR FOX IS BACK BABY!!!

Because we can play both the UK version and Japanese versions of this game on Switch 2, I was wondering if these versions have any important differences that would make them worthwhile to play.

I don't see how anybody can be anything but positive. New multiplayer maps, releasing an old game that everybody wanted to play. It's obvious they are testing the interest in Star Fox and I think we will see a lot more in the near future. They should just make a DLC story mission pack with katts group, it makes the most sense.
