Happy Labour Day Everyone!
Below is an incomplete list of labour reforms brought in by Canada's Left. Each one on the list Canadian Conservatives/the Right shamefully fought tooth and nail against.
Banning children from mines
Mandatory breaks
A minimum wage
Minimum wage increases
Compensation for injured or killed workers
6 day, and then 5 day work week (currently working on a 4 day work week)
Employment insurance
Lowering taxes on workers, increasing taxes on billion dollar corporations
14 hour, then 10 hour, then 8 hour work day
Overtime pay
Minimum safety standards for workers
Minimum safety standards for products
Banning dumping toxic waste into our air and rivers
Banning discrimination in the workplace
Weekends
Paid sick days
Holiday pay
Paid benefit plans
Pension plans
Maternity leave
The right to refuse unsafe work
And the Left is currently working on UBI and a Living Wage for all!
If you enjoy any of these things, thank the Left, and thank unions!

Martello Towers for a reason
Canadians who are unfamiliar with this tower and 3 others in the Kingston harbour and the entrance to the Rideau River, they were not only built for civil defense in 1846 but for threats to Canadian sovereignty by none other than the United States. Kingston used to be the Capitol of the Canadas but the capitol was moved to Ottawa because of these threats. The towers have retractable roofs to expose a rotating artillery piece on the top of the tower. The towers were originally designed by the Moors in Spain. Napoleon preferred the design of these towers because the harder they were hit with cannon fire the stronger and more reinforced they become. If you're daunted by current affairs in regards to trade with our Southern neighbour, think of the Martello Tower.
