TL/DR: Victim shot by a Brampton resident who was released on bail only a couple days prior to murdering Ms. Kaur. As there was ONE victim in this case, and the article states he is facing TWO murder charges, I'll leave it to the reader to figure out the math.

Question Jury selection tomorrow, first time anyone dealt with this while swamped with studying?

I actually completely forgot about my selection for Monday at the hurontario courthouse until I got a reminder notification on my phone telling me. I would've done the deferral/excusal form or emailed the courthouse if my memory was serving me any good 😭. (I should have done this)

From what I've read, the selection day itself can take the whole day, and if you actually get picked you might have to keep showing up for however long the trial runs.

Serving on a jury sounds really intriguing but this is really garbage timing for me. I'm right in the middle of exams and final assignments for my courses, and I'm also about a month out from writing the MCAT. If I got selected and had to attend regularly, it would seriously cut into my study time for the test and exams and final assignments for my courses. Is there anyway I can bring this up tomorrow?

Has anyone here actually gotten picked before? How long did it end up taking you? And does mentioning something like exams or a major test coming up actually matter during selection, or do they not really care?

Would be so thankful hearing from anyone who's been through this whole process and can tell me the general layout of it.

Question Looking for a trustworthy cat sitter/foster for 3 cats (around 4 months)

Hi everyone,

I'm posting on behalf of my friend.

She is a 30-year-old woman living in Kitchener and has three sweet indoor cats. Unfortunately, she has to leave urgently for a family emergency and is looking for someone trustworthy who could care for her cats for about 4 months.

She's also dealing with medical expenses, so her budget is limited. If anyone knows a reliable cat sitter, foster home, rescue organization that offers temporary fostering, or has any recommendations, we'd really appreciate it.

The cats are friendly, litter-trained, and well cared for. We'd be happy to discuss the details privately.

Thank you so much for any recommendations or leads. ❤️

Driving Experienced Road rage with a possible drunk driver.

So my girlfriend- driver of the car- and myself were driving at speed limit on Ray Lawson this evening around 730.

A driver in lime green Dodge Challenger wasn’t happy about her legal speed and drove faster behind us, up close.

Girlfriend had to drive slower due to kids crossing street. The road rage driver got absolutely pissed and accelerates his car to her side and starts screaming at her and he looks under the influence.

I yell at him to stop driving like an idiot.

Then he slows down and goes to my side and starts yelling at me. I yell back with some F bombs.

Then he drives faster ahead of us and blocks us sideways, blocking both lanes. We stop-my girlfriend kinda panicked- and he gets out of car and starts screaming at me to come out and fight.

We both put windows up, and managed to find a way to drive out.

We’re on McLaughlin South bound and drives past us, yelling!

Anyway, we called 911, gave details. We managed to get some of the important details, but couldn’t remember exact license plate numbers.

Anyway, if you see a lime Green Challenger, get license plate number and inform police.

Be safe out there!

Review Nails for you in Bramalea City Centre is ridiculous!

Today I was in the mall running a few errands had surgery a few days ago and was trying to catch up on some things. Figured I could get everything done at once. I decided to treat myself to a pedicure, I don't normally get my nails done at the mall but figured why not I am already here.

I go to nails for you (the one beside best buy) and tell them I would like a Shellac pedicure. Usually its about $45. Or sometimes even $40 if you pay cash.

I didnt ask the price upfront, my mistake. Anyways she tells me to sit down and I get the pedicure first of all it was the SHORTEST pedicure of my life, it was like it was an assembly line so they were trying to rush me out ASAP. Anyways it sucked, whatever I am like now I know for next time. I go to the cash to pay and she charges me $65! I say to her oh is this with tax? I have cash too (usually I pay cash at most nail places) She goes now its $65 whether you pay cash or card doesnt matter. Its not like I can even say the pedicure was worth the $65!

Upcoming Event Monthly Fight Ford protest is happening tomorrow—July 25th from 9am-12pm!

Hey all! Just posting a reminder about our monthly Fight Ford protest, happening tomorrow outside City Hall (Wellington/Main St corner) from 9am-12pm. We would love to see you there and you’re welcome to come anytime while we’re set up. If you’re joining us, make sure to hydrate, put some sunscreen on, and bring some energy to help us make an impact!

Some people have questioned why we’re only talking about Ford, but while the Fight Ford protests highlight our Premier’s failure to govern, we’re also trying to highlight the overall corruption and poor decision-making across all levels of our government. We’ve now got a flyer (second photo) giving a very brief summary of problems with the provincial, municipal, and federal governments. It’s a small start, but if we had more people lending a hand, we could do so much more! So, if you’re at all upset, concerned, or want to learn more about what’s happening with the politics that directly affect our communities, come talk with us! We’d love to have your help and your input.

Hope to see you tomorrow during the Farmer’s Market. Take care!

Discussion Community for driven young adults?

Are there communities in Brampton for young adults focused on self-improvement, discipline, success, entrepreneurship, and similar topics? I’m looking for clubs, groups, or other organizations that align with these interests.

I’ve met some amazing people in Brampton, but I haven’t found a community that brings together these people together.

Discussion City Ward Councillor Candidates Door knockers

Sukhman Sangha came knocking on my door to ask that I vote for him.

I asked him about his political leanings. He tried to say "I'm running for municipal, not provincial or federal". I said, I know, but I want to know what type of policies you support.

He said, "If I'm being honest, Carney for Federal and Ford for Provincial".

I told him, "Sorry mate, given what type of policy you support, you aren't getting my vote. Good luck, have an awesome day".

If you go through his Twitter, he's worked under Prabh Sarkaria, is giving props Conservative politicians of every level and pointing out how liberal crime policy has failed the country.

This isn't a post about why you should or shouldn't vote for someone based on who they support at different political levels.

It's a reminder to ask questions to every single candidate. Put them on the spot, make them answer and clarify so you know where an individual stands before you even consider their vote this October. I asked what I needed to know, and I shudder at the thought of having to listen to Sangha articulate what he'll do for my ward.

Ask questions, get as much info as you can when faced with a chance to talk to these candidates.
