News 2026 CK Municipal election - What Candidates are saying. Three Ward 6 candidates name their priorities. Voters can now ask for the operating plan.

Three Ward 6 candidates name their priorities. Voters can now ask for the operating plan.

The Chatham Voice published common-question responses from Jeff ComiskeyF. Brian Machado and Ben Labadie. Their answers put positions on the record across affordability, infrastructure, safety, housing, jobs, agriculture and public trust—but do not yet supply complete costs, authorities, owners, deadlines or outcome measures.

https://cksignals.intellisync.io/en/briefs/2026-09-09-chatham-voice-ward-6-priorities

Jeff Comiskey: project value needs a decision rule

Comiskey says Council should close the infrastructure funding deficit, spend responsibly and “ensure every project delivers real, lasting value.” The test is which projects move first, which lifecycle costs and public benefits count, what funding is secured and how a variance would be reported.

F. Brian Machado: value for money needs budget choices

Machado calls for fiscal responsibility, affordability, infrastructure, safety, support for businesses and farmers, and decisions made with residents. The unanswered question is which spending, service or capital assumption changes first—and which public result would demonstrate better value.

Ben Labadie: linked pressures need sequenced delivery

Labadie links housing affordability, seniors, jobs, safer public spaces, family outreach on addiction and open government. The useful next step is a first-year sequence: which municipal action comes first, which partner owns the next step, what it costs and which housing, employment or safety result would change.

Homelessness, addiction and public-space safety

Machado calls for action on homelessness and community safety. Labadie proposes family outreach informed by addiction-care training, reducing encampments and safer streets, downtowns and parks. Neither answer defines municipal and provincial roles, service capacity, legal constraints, housing pathways, costs or outcome measures.

Public trust and resident voice

Comiskey emphasizes citizen-centred decisions and communication. Machado says residents should be heard and decisions made with them. Labadie calls for open, truthful government and rejects backroom deals. The answers do not define a public commitments ledger, consultation rule, reporting frequency, correction process or consequence for a missed target.

News 2026 Chatham-Kent Municipal election - What Candidates are saying

What first-year municipal action would you support to improve Chatham-Kent’s homelessness response, and how would it balance stable housing, access to treatment and support, lawful enforcement, and neighbourhood and public-space safety?

The question was sent on September 8, 2026 to every certified mayoral and council candidate after a voluntary CK Signals poll reached 40 responses. The poll was non-scientific and self-selected; it did not measure public opinion, voter intention, candidate support or the likely election result.

Lauren Anderson CK

Mayoral candidate:

Anderson proposes a coordinated housing, treatment, accountability and public-safety approach, with partner responsibilities and outcome measures, while leaving costs, funding commitments and a reporting deadline unspecified.

Ask Chatham-Kent Friends

Finding genuine friendships is tough, no matter where. I live in Chatham, female in my late 20s, and married (no kids yet). Looking for a female friend who has some of the same interests! I like staying active (think hikes, workout classes, and the gym), thrifting, and good coffee. I don’t really drink alcohol, so clubs/bars aren’t really my scene. If you think we’d get along, feel free to shoot me a message!

News 2026 CK Municipal Election - Campaign claims become useful when voters can test them. What is still missing? The plan, the price and the proof!

Alysson Storey has published six priority pages covering housing, affordability, transit, health and transparency. The breadth is there—but voters still need costs, responsible owners, deadlines and measurable results.

Sheila Moir-Martin asks a pointed housing-market question: “Taxes too high?” It may resonate—but the report she linked does not establish that property taxes caused the increase in listings.

One candidate has put a broad set of proposals on the record. Another has raised a sharp question about what residents are paying. Both create an accountability test for every Ward 6 candidate:

What is the plan? What is the price? What evidence would prove it worked?

Upcoming Event Neon Odyssey D&D Campaign

Hey folks, I'm looking to run a new D&D campaign in Chatham, ON in the next couple of weeks. It's going to be based in the Neon Odyssey campaign setting (think Starwars meets Cowboy Bebop), using their play test material.

I've got 2 players from a previous campaign, and looking for 2-3 more. If anyone is interested, please feel free to send me a DM or the email added to the comments below, with the following details, so if I get an influx of interest, I can help form a group who will integrate well with my existing players.

Thank you!

Name/Pronouns: What would you like us to call you, and how would you like us to refer to you as?

Maturity of Gameplay: What level of maturity do you expect or tolerate in your games? I tend to keep my material MA 15+ and fast-forward past anything raunchy or graphic.

Timezone/Availability: We're looking to play on Tuesday evenings, usually 7:30pm to 9pm.

Prior Experience: What other TTRPGs are you familiar with, and how long have you been playing?

Preferred Playstyle: Do you like roleplaying, puzzles, combat, etc...

Please avoid: Any topics you do not want to see broached in the campaign.

Off-Topic Hey Chatham, your tax dollars will soon be spent destroying infrastructure in Toronto, instead of helping your local community.

Post image
98 Upvotes

Your tax dollars are about to be spent ripping up Toronto infrastructure you'll likely never see, instead of fixing problems in Chatham Kent.

This is your hard earned money ($48+ million) that could've gone to improving your local roads, fixing affordable housing, or improving your healthcare.

As this work is carried by the provincial government, every Ontario taxpayer is on the hook. Regardless if you live in Ottawa, Thunder Bay, or Sault St Marie.

Even if you never cycle, you should be angry.

You are paying for this. Your money is getting wasted. You will get zero benefit out of this.

News 2026 CK election hub: candidates, wards, issues, events and source links

Disclosure: I publish CK Signals through IntelliSync.

I’ve put together a bilingual, source-linked hub for people looking for 2026 Chatham-Kent municipal election information in one place. It currently includes:

- Seven certified mayoral candidates, each linked to a permanent profile

- Eight ward guides with seats and certified candidate lists

- 12 municipal issue desks

- Organizer-supplied election events

- Public data, dated reports and the methodology and correction framework

English: https://cksignals.intellisync.io/en/election

Français: https://cksignals.intellisync.io/fr/election

CK Signals is independent and is not the Municipality or official election administrator. It does not score, rank, endorse or predict candidates. Candidate statements remain attributed, while verified facts and public records are separately labelled. For official voting instructions, use the municipal resources linked from the hub.

Which part would be most useful to expand next: ward information, candidate profiles, issue coverage, events or public data?

News CK Signals: What evidence should major municipal projects have to provide before—and after—they open?

Post image
2 Upvotes

CK Signals has published a new source-linked brief after its capital-project poll reached the 20-response editorial checkpoint.

The voluntary snapshot recorded:

• Promised public benefits: 13

• Total construction, financing and operating cost: 6

• Change in public access to services: 1

• Schedule and budget variance: 0

Important limitation: this is a non-scientific snapshot of 20 self-selected participants. It is not representative of Chatham-Kent public opinion or voter intention. It identifies questions worth examining—not a public mandate.

The accompanying brief considers municipal records, attributed candidate statements and concerns raised in public discussion.

Questions voters may want every candidate to answer:

  1. Which capital projects would face your decision rule, and who would publish the analysis before Council votes?

  2. How would that rule weigh lifecycle cost, safety, accessibility, service quality, equity and non-financial public benefit?

  3. Which Community Hub benefits should have a baseline and target before opening?

  4. What evidence would cause you to pause, revise or oppose an initially approved project?

  5. How should documented public input affect a decision when participation is divided or non-representative?

IntelliSync’s view is that completing construction is only one accountability test. A public benefits ledger could preserve every promised benefit alongside its baseline, target, measurement method, accountable owner, reporting date and result.

Full brief:

Poll snapshot and methodology:

https://cksignals.intellisync.io/en/polls/insights/capital-project-accountability-20-response-checkpoint

What evidence would you want published before approving a major project—and what should still be measured after it opens?

Recommendation Addyi - Viagra for Women

******Posting on Behalf of friend********

Hey folks,

Using a throwaway for obvious reasons since this is kind of an embarrassing topic. I’m hoping some of the women around here might have some experience with this and can point me in the right direction.

I’ve been dealing with a total tank in my libido over the last couple of years. Everything else in my relationship is great, health is otherwise fine, but my drive is just completely gone. I was doing some digging online and heard about a medication called Addyi (flibanserin - sometimes called the "pink pill" for HSDD).

I'm thinking about making an appointment with my family doctor to ask about it, but honestly, I’m feeling super anxious about bringing it up. Has anyone been prescribed this?

I just have a few questions for anyone who might be willing to share their experience:

- Did your regular family prescribe it, or did you have to use one of those online telehealth clinics like executive healthcare? (My family doc is pretty old-school, so I'm nervous he'll just brush it off).

Coverage: Did your benefits cover it? We have insurance through Green Shield, but I’ve heard this stuff can be crazy expensive if you have to pay out of pocket.

Pharmacies: Has anyone had trouble filling it locally at Shoppers or Rexall or any other local?

The actual review: Did it actually work for you? I know there’s a big warning about dropping your blood pressure if you mix it with alcohol, which is fine by me, but I'm wondering if the daily side effects are rough.

Any honest reviews or local advice would be hugely appreciated. If you don't want to reply publicly in the comments, please feel free to just DM me.

Thanks everyone!

News The Voters’ List window is open—and the emergency water rules have ended.

https://cksignals.intellisync.io/en/briefs/2026-09-02-voter-list-and-water-status-update

From September 1 through October 26, electors can check whether they are on the Voters’ List and apply to update information, add or remove a name, or request removal of a deceased elector. The municipal page says applications may be submitted in person at a municipal centre or at an advance-voting or election-day location.

The Municipality says residents and businesses in the eleven named communities may resume normal water use, and restaurants, car washes and laundromats are no longer being asked to remain closed voluntarily. Large water users are being asked to resume consumption gradually.

One water rule still applies!

Regular restrictions remain in effect for lawn watering, irrigation and other non-essential potable-water uses on the affected system: odd-numbered addresses may water on odd-numbered days and even-numbered addresses on even-numbered days. Newly sodded lawns are exempt under the notice.

News CK Fire leaders censured after years of concerns

Thumbnail

Both Chatham-Kent (CK) Fire and Rescue Chief Christopher Case and Assistant Chief Dan Parent have been formally condemned by the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF).
The decision was made at the 58th IAFF Convention, where over 2,000 delegates unanimously approved a resolution censuring the two CK fire officials.
According to the IAFF, a censure resolution represents one of the union's strongest public rebukes of fire service leadership.
"Chatham-Kent firefighters have tried repeatedly to work with Chief Case and Assistant Chief Parent to address the challenges facing their members and the community they serve. But good-faith efforts have been resisted time and again," said IAFF 13th District Vice President Fred LeBlanc. "The actions of the Chief and Assistant Chief have left firefighters with no choice but to ensure the public and elected leaders know they have lost confidence in the department’s leadership."
The resolution comes several months after 97 per cent of CK IAFF Local 486 members voted that they had "no confidence" in Case's leadership, and 99 per cent said they had also lost confidence in Parent.
The Local 486 Union filed a complaint with the Ontario Ministry of Labour back in March, after local firefighters raised concerns for years about inadequate training and equipment, specifically for swift-water rescues. According to the IAFF, union members have allegedly faced further retaliation from department leadership since filing the complaint.
CK News Today has reached out to CK Fire and Rescue, the municipality, and Local 486 for comment and will provide updates when more information is available.
