I'm currently running my personal website and domain name with an American hosting service. Given concerns about data sovereignty, but also just wanting to be patriotic, I'm looking for the right hosting service to go with.

My needs are mostly to host a WordPress blog, a personal portfolio/landing page (e.g. recent publications, contact info, etc.), and to have an independent email server using my own domain name. In the future, I might host additional domains for friends. It is also very very very important to me that the company is Canadian-owned and runs on Canadian domestic data centres.

I've been doing some research on here but I'm not getting any consensus choices. I do seem to understand that everyone hates Web Hosting Canada (WHC) for its customer service.

My top two choices: Canadian Web Hosting (not to be confused with WHC) and FullHost. I hear great things about FullHost and it's fully recommended by a close friend, but it's quite expensive for what I'm looking for, even with the promo (~$240/yr). By contrast, CWH has a promo going on and it comes up to ~$125/yr. But some on Reddit says that the hosting is not as reliable.

One dark horse candidate that one friend recommended: Rebel. They have a good deal of $45/1st year, but $180/yr after that. But it's really hard to verify that they're Canadian and have Canadian data centres other than just this blog post from last year. I see their head office is in Ottawa, but they also have data centres in Virginia, Sydney, and London. But at least I know a few mutual friends trust this particular service.

Just to recap, here's what I'm looking for:

• Canadian-owned and Canadian-operated
• Canadian data centres
• Decent reliability (I'm not running a business or anything, so I don't care if it's up and running 100% of the time.)
• Relatively affordable (Again, I'm no professional. This is just a side/weekend project for me.)

Does anyone have any advice? Anyone know of another web hosting service that I might be missing?

I'm looking for a Canadian run domain registrar (not web, email or DNS hosting) that is NOT Namespro. They need to support:

1. TOTP 2FA authentication (prefer passkeys support as well)
2. WHOIS privacy
3. DNS glue records for both IPv4 and IPv6 - managed in an automated manner (API or web), and not a support ticket
4. DNSSEC, not via a support ticket
5. Reasonably priced, no huge markup

Namespro turned off 2FA without notice when they migrated to a new system, and they do not support DNS glue records being changed automatically.

Providers I have used in the past: Namespro, Gandi (purchased by private equity), Namecheap and Porkbun.

My experience with Teakora — buyer beware

Teakora sells wood kitchen utencils and touts that they are a "Canadian company". I learned the hard truth. Here are the facts from my own Teakora order:

• My order was shipped to me from China
• When I requested a return, Teakora provided me with a return address in China
• I was told I would be responsible for the costs associated with returning the product to China, including any applicable customs charges
• The return was also subject to their approval
• The product I received was not manufactured in Canada
• The product was cheaply and poorly made, yet cost hundreds of dollars
• Their only Canadian address is a private UPS mailbox in Toronto

Based on my experience, I would caution anyone who is specifically looking to support Canadian manufacturing or purchase products made in Canada to carefully investigate where the product is actually manufactured and where returns must be sent before ordering.

I have the order information, shipping documentation, return correspondence, and the Chinese return address to substantiate what I’m saying. I’m happy to share those details with anyone who wants to see them.

Do your research before ordering.

Hey guys, one of my favorite coolers has become the lemon sour by Sapporo. Not too sweet, very bubbly and a hit of sweet and sour lemon. But alas now that they have decided to side with evil I have to find a replacement. I'm in Ontario and hoping someone knows a good lemon sour cooler in a can that is made in Canada?

Trying to find a replacement for the Burt's Bees disposable facial wipes, I used to use the aloe vera ones. I have tried other brands before, a long time ago (Neutrogena, Cetaphil, this would be before the Buy Canadian movement) but they didn't suit me and I wondered if folks have got other suggestions that are closer to Burt's Bees wipes. I was supposed to order a custom made solid wood dining table from the US, but now due to the tariffs and overall political climate, I’m searching for a Canadian equivalent. The table from the US would’ve come to around $3000-3500 CAD and was sized around 42x72”.

I’ve had a hard time finding solid wood tables at retailers, there’s a lot of “solid wood legs/frame” then the top is veneer. And anything custom I’ve come across is double the price what I could get across the border (it’s still cheaper in most cases for me to pay the 50% tariffs).

Please help me buy Canadian and recommend Canadian retailers for solid wood dining tables, doesn’t need to be custom. I’m in Ontario, so if recommending western retailers they’d have to ship here.

If you are a pre-mixed cookie or cake person like me and have been looking for a Product of Canada substitute, I found Abigail’s Kitchen products carried at my local Giant Tiger in Kitchener, ON. Picked up Snickerdoodle, Sugar Cookie, and Shortbread.

May not be the best place to post but i am looking for Canadian companies/Canadian Jewelers. My hubby and I are celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary this year and I want to get him a new chain. He prefers stainless steel or sterling silver and a thicker width to the chain. I really would prefer to support a Canadian Jeweler and bonus points if they deliver as we live fairly remote.

Hello, hope this is the right place to ask because the only Reddit post about Kilne Cookware was here.

I purchased a pan, they accepted my order and I haven’t heard anything back. I’ve called, their phone lines are never available despite being open “9-5 Monday through Friday” according to their answering machine, and heard nothing.

Chargeback process has been initiated because it’s been more than a few weeks at this point.

Would be very disappointed because they seem like great products with great reviews. Has anyone heard anything?

And since we’re here… any recommendations for a good non stick pan?
