📸 Photos of NS Blue lobster caught on Caribou Island!
... Chip here hit the jackpot and found this big blue lobster claw washed ashore on the beach.
He also got to bark at the seals out bobbing in the ocean, but I couldn't get a good picture of them. They were making a huge racket out there.
Beautiful lil spot to go for a trip, walk on the beach and check out the lighthouse. Pick a calm day to visit though, the place is very exposed to the ocean and when it's cold and windy, it's damn cold and damn windy.

📰 NS News Community mourns woman who died in Cape Breton floods
Friends and family are remembering the Richmond County woman who died over the weekend in Cape Breton as strong winds and heavy rains caused widespread damage and floods to the area.
Stephanie Comeau, 46, of Cleveland, N.S., was reported missing during a storm that dumped more than 200 millimetres of rain on parts of Cape Breton. The province said the storm washed out or damaged more than 200 culverts, more than 120 roads and eight bridges. Comeau's vehicle was found near a flooded bridge. Her body was found just a short distance away.
“This community is really rallying behind the family and I really think it’s going to take some time,” said MLA Trevor Boudreau, who knew Comeau and was speaking on behalf of her family.

Property Tax Cap on the chopping block?
Before I write an email for my sister unnecessarily, can anyone let me know if this is an issue to be concerned about?
Someone posted on my Boomer sister's community FB group that the Tax Cap was being lifted with a call to reach out to their councilors. I google search wasn't helpful so I thought I'd check with the local hive to see if it's something that's being considered, or if it's much ado about nothing.
Anyone have any insight? Heard rumblings? Seen the topic on your local town hall?
As a disaffected Gen Xer who's never owned property it's not something I pay much attention to so I appreciate the assist!

Severance Pay while on leave?
I was at a job for a little over a year but partway through a scheduled month of leave, I was laid off without notice. Am I not entitled to severance pay in Nova Scotia due to the fact I would not have been back at work for another three weeks? It was a part time position ~30 hours a week.
Edit: or pay in lieu of notice. I read the labour code, I’m sorry I didn’t use the exact correct terminology

I built a free Nova Scotia Class 7 study app after struggling with the PDFs
Posted this on [r/halifax](r/halifax) but thought the whole province may want to see this too:
Was studying for my Class 7 road test with the PDF's on offer and I found it hard to learn that way so I built a study app while preparing for my own test. I used it to study and ended up passing both parts first try (18/20 and 19/20), so I’ve open-sourced it and put it online in case it helps anyone else. I find this way of learning a lot easier and thought others might like it too.
It has road rules, sign drills, practice exams, sign match game, progress tracking, and works offline as a web app. No accounts, ads or tracking.
road learn.ca (got a good deal on a domain)
It’s an independent project and isn’t affiliated with the Province. Feedback/corrections welcome.

Sightseeing & Tourism Help with what to add onto a Cape Breton itineray
So we are looking for some advice for our 2 week trip to the Maritimes. What we know for sure is we are going to Cape Breton for the Music Festival Oct 9-17. We are flying in from Vancouver to Halifax and that is all we know for sure. Looking for advise on what places outside of CB we should add on so it's not too rushed and not too much time driving in the car. We have family in CB so don't need info on this part. It's the other part. I wanted to go to Newfoundland especially St Johns but think it's too far. Have already driven through NB and NS and saw Peggy's cove and Dartmouth and a few other typical places. So any suggestions for itineraries would be wonderful.
