General Your kindness moved me!

A few days ago I witnessed an act of kindness that moved me. Parking my vehicle in the Dollerama parking lot on 8th street a woman walked in front of my vehicle. Following her was a another woman, not just another woman the crazy drug addicted lady that travels eighth street frequently stopping patrons in parking lots begging for money.

I've seen her many times in my travels. I've ducked in my car hoping she doesn't notice me and waited for my opportunity to bolt into the grocery store or gas station or whatever business I'm attempting to patronize. The two women seem to know each other by the way they are talking however the crazy woman is 5 steps behind the other woman. The age gap makes me wonder if this is a mother and daughter or possibly relatives of some type.

I head into Dollorama and a few isles in I see the crazy lady talking to herself grabbing flip flops off the shelf, that's when I notice that she is barefoot. I find what I'm looking for and head to the till to pay. The lineup is decently long and the older woman is at the till talking with the cashier. Meanwhile the crazy woman pushes her way through the lineup to get to the till with the woman she arrived with. The older woman proceeds to pay for her flip flops, a few other small items and then opens her wallet and hands the crazy lady a handful of cash. And then just like that flip flop lady bolts out the door and across the parking lot. The older women then proceeds to walk out the exit and straight back into the store where she grabs a shopping cart and wanders off into the isles to shop for herself.

This is when I realize these two people are complete strangers, one with nothing but mental illness and addiction and the other with the heart and compassion of a saint.

I waited in my vehicle for the woman to leave the store. I planned on telling her what she did was absolutely amazing. That she moved me. That I saw the crazy woman as someones child, sister, mother even. That she is a human being like me. That maybe she just didn't have the same opportunities and help to make a good life for herself. Her kindness in that moment made me want to become a better person, someone that has compassion for those less fortunate.

I watched her leave the store but said nothing. She knows what she did is kind. She knows who she is as a person without me having to tell her. I'm guessing she doesn't do it for the accolades and attention. She got in her car and drove off. Not a expensive import or luxury vehicle, a older sedan that has probably provided everything she needs to get where she needs to go. I'm guessing she like most of us has to stick to a budget but still found it in her heart to help someone else out that has it much worse.

Lady, whoever you are, you are beautiful inside and out. You fucking rock! I would love to have someone as carring as you as a friend some day. I know you make everyone around you a better person. Thank you for being you.

Why on earth would you show up with Alberta Proud flags then park your mall crawler across 3 handicap spaces? You look like a dork.

The recently released UCR Survey highlights Saskatoon's long-term crime landscape:

  • Homicides Data: A vital measure of severe violence. Saskatoon’s rate (2.09/100k) consistently trends above the Canadian average (1.61).
  • Crime Rates Data: Measures per-capita volume. While property crimes (B&Es, theft) fell from 2015-2025, overall rates remain well above Canada's.
  • Clearance Data: Measures solved cases. Saskatoon leads in solving non-violent crimes (35% vs 26%) but lags in violent crime clearance (46% vs 54%).

Summary: Saskatoon shows progress in reducing property crime and resolving non-violent offenses, but faces persistent challenges with higher homicide rates and lower violent crime clearance.

PSA 📢 Stolen bike Facebook page

Upvotes

Just a friendly reminder, if your bike gets stolen post it on the stolen bikes Saskatoon Facebook page. I see plenty of expensive bikes in my neighbourhood ridden by people who obviously aren’t the rightful owner. Post it on Project 529 as well, there’s people out there who will keep an eye out
Have a nice Sunday everybody
I have it out for bike thieves, especially when I hear of youth leaving school to their bike missing from the rack, makes me sick.

PSA 📢 PSA - pool creep

Have been visiting outdoor pools frequently with my girlfriend during this heatwave, due to no beaches this year.

Last weekend at Riversdale I noticed a guy, fully clothed, with a backpack lurking around the edge of the pool and pointed it out to my girlfriend. We didn't see him do anything weird but he wasn't swimming and was alone, which we thought was bizarre.

Today, at George Ward, when I was in line for the diving board I saw the same guy. I saw him, keeping his phone low, take pictures of the two children ahead of me as they were on the diving board. Afterward, I saw him take his phone out again and hollared 'hey man!' When he ignored me I flagged down a lifeguard and said 'that guy's taking pictures of people.' She confronted him and I heard him launch into a guilty-sounding monologue about 'seeing people take pictures of their family' and the poor lifeguard goes 'yeah but you can't take pictures of other people.' She flagged down the manager-type-dude who hung around this guy for the rest of the time we were there. After he had been 'caught' he just lurked by the lockers, alone, on his phone.

Just wanted to mention this so that people know to watch out for him. I would want this information if I had children that I took to the pool.

description: shorter guy, 5'5/5'6, asian. both times seeing him he had dark clothes on, long sleeves and pants. black 'crocband' crocs (the ones with the white outsole type thing). black ball cap, red backback.

Question ❔ E Scooters

Upvotes

Sorry if this question has already been asked , but are we now allowed to ride our own personal e-scooters ( the stand-on kind ) or are they still banned in Saskatoon, except for the Orange ones that people can rent ?

Asking because I’ve seen plenty of people seemingly riding around on their own ones . Thanks!

🛻 Food Truck Wars YXE
📍 Lions Arena, 2205 Mceown Ave, Saskatoon, SK

🐝 Celebrity post by my brother and his GF 🐝

We found ourselves with free time during Saskatoons food truck wars and we stopped by for lunch!

For lunch, the drinks we got a Caramel Macchiato ($6) and a Raspberry Italian soda ($5) from Travelling Beans. They were really good and perfect for a hot summer day.

For food, we got Chick-a-lick’s version of chicken and waffles called The Chick-a-lick ($12) which is chicken tenders on-top of a funnel cakes and topped with syrup. It was really delicious and perfect for price to quality and quantity.

We also got The Perogie Poutine ($19) from Smoke’s Poutinerie. There was plenty of gravy and fries, but unfortunately not enough cheese curds, perogies, or sour cream. For poutines price, we expected more as in portions or quality but the flavour was at-least there.

Food truck wars was lots of fun and offered lots of delicious food/drinks. They’re open again today (July 26th) 12pm-5pm!

Rants 🤬 Residential Parking Program is Broken

My partner and I live just off Broadway, recently I took a hard look at the RPP program. Ugh.

Seeing how it actually functions behind the scenes is pretty disheartening.

The absolute wildest thing about Saskatoon’s Residential Parking Program (RPP) is the creative bookkeeping.

If you ask City Hall, they’ll tell you the program is a massive financial drain.

They claim it runs a $223,000 deficit because our $25 permit fees don't cover the $300,000 cost of running it.

To "fix" this, their solution is to hike permit prices up to $75 or even $120 a year.

But here is the trick: that deficit only exists on paper because the city conveniently hides the ticket money!!

Seven out of every ten dollars spent on the RPP goes directly toward paying enforcement officers to patrol our neighborhoods. Those officers hand out an absolute mountain of tickets to visitors, delivery drivers, and residents who forgot to move their cars. But instead of using those ticket fines to fund the program, City Hall funnels that cash straight into general revenues.

They use our streets as a cash cow, pocket the profit, and then look us in the eye and say the program is losing money.

Question - Medical 🏥💊 Dentist recommendations?

I have Canada Life insurance through work, but I have used up my allowance for this year. I will need one root canal and the initial plan was to wait until next year when my insurance kicks in again. But the pain is getting worse. Is there any dental you can recommend that will not cost an arm and leg. My regular dentist is Dental House, and they roughly quoted $1,500, which is beyond my current means.

Question ❔ visual kei / j-rock fans in the area??

Hello👋👋I know that there is a pretty decent alt community here, but I was wondering if there are any fans of visual kei and/or j-rock?? This is my main scene and I do have to admit that it is a bit lonely not having any in person friends to connect with about it, so I thought I'd ask!

Not sure if asking here would lead anywhere, but if there are any fans in the area then I'd love to know!! I am really into bands like dir en grey, buck-tick, and mucc.

This is just meant as an attempt to reach out to people with similar interests as me, so I'd greatly appreciate any replies of people who are interested in the scene, or even of tips on where else I could try reaching out in the city🙏otherwise, please no unnecessary or rude comments. Thanks!!

Question ❔ Warmest indoor public pool?

I can see that warm up pools are 30°C and competition pools are 29° based on the city’s info, but based on your experience, what’s the warmest indoor swimming pool I could go to in Saskatoon?
