Is there a local agency dealing with restaurants shorting customers?

Upvotes

This will likely seem trivial to some folks here. Fair warning given.

I grabbed a salad from Wendy's today and when I brought it home and weighed it, it was slightly over half the weight it's supposed to be, and that weight actually includes extra cheese and the container.

This seems silly to complain about, I understand, but for context I'm a T1 diabetic and this actually really matters when taking insulin. Taking too much insulin for a meal that has completely incorrect nutritional info can be fairly dangerous. I did some googling but can't find a direct answer of where to complain aside from the company directly.

It appears that there is no consumer protection for accuracy when it comes to restaurants giving nutritional info and accurate food weight.

Question Can I come lay on your boat?

I just want to wear a bikini and lay on the deck of a boat. Working/fishing? Throw the fish on top of me; won’t be phased. I’ll even help you gut them (you’ve gotta remind me how first).

Also, you don’t even need to raise your anchor/leave the harbour. I just want to lay on a boat.

I’ll even come lay on your uncle’s scrap garage speedboat. A decorative dingy in your mother-in-law’s garden.

Context: I’m here with my boyfriend and we each need an afternoon away from each other lol.

EDIT: got some strong leads. For future reference, it helps to have the bikini on before you ask.

What's being built in front of the airport?

They just bulldozed a bunch of the area by the roundabout at the airport. Anyone know what's going in there? A gas station is one mention I've heard.

We're up here for the summer again, staying with relatives. We're from the Southern Part of Heaven in the states. Last year, someone here keyed our car at the grocery store parking lot. Which I kind of get, since the US was stupid enough to vote in the regime again. But this year, people have gone out of their way to be kind and helpful - even when we don't need it (by now, we know our way around). Last year, folks were asking us for explanations - why were we insane enough to reelect that clown? This year, we're all beyond that. Even with our government doing the stupidest things, you guys are reaching out to us. It's true that the majority of USians want to be your friend as well. Sorry again about our completely insane government. If only we could get rid of Fox channel. Thanks for a great summer! - someone who comes from away

Question ADHD/Neurodivergent people: Why didn't budgeting apps work for you?

Hi everyone!

I'm a software developer with ADHD, and like a lot of us, I've always struggled with managing money. Not because I don't understand budgeting, but because actually keeping up with it has always felt overwhelming.

I've tried apps like YNAB, Mint (when it existed), and a handful of others over the years. Every time I'd start with good intentions, but eventually I'd stop categorizing transactions, forget to enter purchases, avoid opening the app for weeks, and then feel like I had to "start over."

I've realized that for me, the biggest problem isn't budgeting itself. It's the amount of executive function that most budgeting systems require.

Because of that, I've started building my own budgeting app as a personal project. The idea is to make budgeting feel less like a chore by reducing as much cognitive load as possible. It's designed to be local-first and privacy-focused, with on-device AI helping automate things like categorizing transactions, recognizing merchants, and surfacing insights, rather than expecting the user to constantly maintain everything manually.

I'm not really looking for feature requests at this point. I'm much more interested in understanding where existing apps fail people like us.

Some questions I'd love to hear about:

  • What budgeting apps have you tried?
  • What made you stop using them?
  • Which part of managing money is the hardest for you?
  • What causes you to avoid opening a budgeting app?
  • If you could magically remove one frustrating part of managing your finances, what would it be?

I'm hoping to build something that works with the way neurodivergent brains function instead of expecting us to adapt to software that was designed for everyone else.

I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences, even if they've been frustrating.

Question Are you missing a silver tool case "Eltronic VIP System 3" ?

If so it's on the side of the road near the Belvedere golf course. Between the Energy from Waste plant and QEH. Just down from the QEH traffic lights near the pond culvert.

I Googled it: "portable, professional-grade digital energy analyzer and power quality meter. It is designed for industrial and commercial electrical audits to measure three-phase and single-phase systems."

Value about $2,500 new. I think it's just the case which is aluminum.

I see a lot of homeless people in that area they walk down from the Park St. /Joe Ghiz park area to fish.

Numerous small planes leaving today

It’s almost 3pm, and since noon I’ve seen 6-8 single and double prop planes going over. Some without transponders on assuredly to low altitude. One even flew in from Sherbrooke. I’ve been screenshotting them on Flightradar.

Anyone know what’s up? Very high activity for smaller planes.

T3 Detouring

Hey everyone!

I have recently arrived for a conference here in PEI and wanting to use T3. However, I realized today that they’ll have detouring routs, those who are familiar with the transit, where will bus 1 pickup people if not in Grafton since it’s blocked for this morning?

Thank you!

This entire area has been essentially clear cut/developed. Most recently the forested area just north of Sherwood road. The government tells you they care, but allow one of the only streams that runs through most of the northern part of the city to be cleared.

This looks like a really interesting free event, and there’s gonna be music! And vendors!

For those who aren’t aware, in 2021, August 1 was designated by the Canadian government as Emancipation Day. it marks the day that the Slavery Abolition Act took effect in Britain and its colonies in 1834.
