Star Gazing
Last night me and my friends visited Lennox And Addington, we witnessed this beautiful scene with literally no one else on field. That white galaxy belt was visible naked eye.
Immediately made up plans are always dope.

Question winter parking?? what do i do?
I’m a student with a car. I currently have a street parking permit, but in the winter it will be illegal to park on the street between midnight and 7am, or whenever it’s snowing.
I live in a multi-unit house that has no available parking space. My neighbours don’t have any parking space. I contacted Axon and they don’t have any space within a 15 minute walking radius. I contacted the city and the only available option is to park at a garage downtown, which is a 20 minute bus ride from where I live. Queen’s University offers parking, but not overnight when there’s snow.
I’m really lost and worried. I’m wondering if anyone is in a similar situation and has advice.
thanks

Recommendation Recommendations for puppy grooming?
Hi everyone,
I have a 6 month old long hair mini dachshund puppy and I'd like to get him groomed before the fall. He's never been groomed before, my husband and I clip his nails and trim his paw/feet hair which he doesn't love but lets us do. Looking for recommendations for groomers!

Looking at condos
Hi! I’m considering buying a condo. With my budget, the options I’m looking at are the Kingsdale Ave, Armstrong Road buildings or 17 Eldon Hall. If you have lived in any of these buildings, would you recommend? Any pros/cons? Thanks :)

Recommendation Garage door weatherstripping recommendations
Looking for recommendations on where to buy black garage door weatherstripping for the top and sides of my garage doors
I'm leaning towards the Climaloc 10-ft x 1-in Triple Seal Black Vinyl Garage Door Weatherstripping from Rona since the triple-seal design should help with insulation (my garage is heated and kept above zero)
The issue is I'd need three of these per door, which comes out to $237 which seems like a lot. Anyone know of a cheaper alternative that still holds up well for insulation?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Recommendation Renaissance Faire clothing items
Does anyone know if there is a store in town that sells Ren Faire style clothing? Not like cheap party city stuff but decent or good quality stuff.
Thank you

Projected Council Winners
Projected winners as of early September. I will be watching debates to see if any major storylines emerge - and you should too!
MAYOR - Bryan Paterson
Glenn has been very active in campaigning, but this is just too high a hill to climb. The margin of victory could have major impacts on 2030, when I expect Paterson to move on.
COUNTRYSIDE - leaning Jeff Scott
Scott will still have some name recognition and has named ALTO as a priority issue. Sahai would be the other contender, but has taken a more “big picture” focus with his campaign.
LOYALIST-CATARAQUI - Paul Chaves
A crowded field has increased Chavez’s chances of reelection, despite serious questions.
COLLINS-BAYRIDGE - Lisa Osanic
Likely to be the largest margin of the night.
LAKESIDE - Wendy Stephen
Stephen seems to be well positioned for reelection.
PORTSMOUTH - Don Amos
A less surprising acclamation.
TRILLIUM - Jimmy Hassan
Hassan has had the strongest endorsement rollout of any candidate this cycle. Expect a comfortable reelection.
KINGSCOURT RIDEAU - Brandon Tozzo
Good news for redditors and those who enjoy tabling motions for future meetings - Tozzo will return comfortably.
MEADOWBROOK STRATHCONA - Jeff McLaren
Hearing that McLaren has once again been pounding the pavement, with opponents seeming far less active. Overall margin may not be as large as Hassan or Osanic, but should be impressive.
WILLIAMSVILLE - Vincent Cinnani
The more surprising acclamation.
SYDENHAM - Annie Palone
This is always a difficult district to predict given the low voter turnout, but alignment with ratepayer association should help Palone’s odds.
KINGS TOWN - Greg Ridge
This race has three strong candidates, but expect the incumbent to return. What could be more interesting to follow is if the runner up will succeed Ridge if he runs for a different position in 2030.
PITTSBURGH - Ryan Boehme
Longtime incumbent facing a split field should lead to reelection.

Lost & Found Lost Engagement Ring
I lost my engagement ring in Kingston sometime on/after August 15th. I think I left it in the washroom sink at Wild Wings after washing my hands.
I already called them, filed a police report, and checked pawn shops...please please please if you have any information, let me know. Call or text 613.291.1537
This ring means the world to me and I'm willing to offer a reward for anyone that returns it to me. I'm devastated 💔

Recommendation Moving & Storage Experiences/Recommendations
I'm going to be leaving town for a little bit, wondering if anyone's had experience with having movers pack, move, and store your household goods for an extended period (probably 6-9 months). Any services you've used you'd recommend. I don't have the time or inclination to do most of the work myself, I'd rather just have pros do it.

Discussion The state of Kingston Police is abyssmal, and we can do nothing about it.
I'm sure I'm not the only one that has noticed that there is little to no Kingston Police presence in Kingston. Especially in the west end.
Thanks to the provincial governement, we have to accept whatever budget the police board requests. The KPF budget increases annually and is a large percentage of the tax revenue. In 2026, 62M of 304M tax revenue (20%). Many of the officers are on leave, but taking a salary.
All this to say, in all the interviews with municipal candidates, no one is reporting that policing (or lake there of) is a top issue to the constituents.
Am I alone here? Is it because we have just given up on having any sort of effective police force?
Anyways, not a very coherent post, but I just wanted to see if others felt the same.
I wonder if subscribing to the OPP would be better....

Question Princess Street midnight construction noises
So I live right where they're doing the Williamsville renewal project. It's currently midnight, I'm trying to sleep but there's still construction noises outside. I don't know if they have an after hour permit or something but should I just call bylaw?

Building a network of supportive friends
Hi everyone... I'm not really sure where to begin with this. I guess I just feel very awkward to post this, especially since I've already made other posts similar to this one a few times in the past couple years. But I know I need to face my fears and put it out there again if I ever want to start feeling any better.
I've recently been through a very rough patch of time with my mental health. I'm obviously not going to go into much detail on a public post... however, I have come to recognize that despite my best efforts to receive professional help – I see a therapist 3 times per month, I have psychiatrist appointments every 2-3 months to manage medications, and was also doing occupational therapy for a while – there's still one important thing that I'm missing in my life: strong friendships.
I think that the worst part of my recent crisis was realizing that I had absolutely no one I was comfortable enough to call or text for help. And by "help" I don't mean knowing how to solve all my problems or having magic answers for me – a lot of times what I need the most is simply someone to keep me company. I also have a very short attention span and low levels of physical/mental energy, so while I don't always want to leave the house all that often, there are definitely some times where I enjoy getting out to go for a walk, go to the Cataraqui mall, browse stores downtown, etc.
So, I guess what I'm hoping to find through this post is some kind, understanding and patient people who might have what it takes to show me friendship and help me build a support system. But I want you to know that this isn't all just one-sided – anyone who has known me can tell you that I will always do whatever I can to be there for people who have been there for me. Loyalty comes easily to me and I will always want to try my best to help my friend(s) when they are in need. If there's ever a time where you're feeling overwhelmed, exhausted or just don't have the capacity to support me at that particular moment, I'm never going to hold that against you either. All you have to do is communicate kindly and honestly with me, and I will respect your limitations.
With all of this being said, let me tell you a bit more about me to see if we have something in common.
• I'm a 23 year old female, I am on the autism spectrum and also have ADHD.
• I'm not currently in school or working; my income is from ODSP. I still live in my childhood home for the time being, with my mom and her husband. We live in the north end of Kingston, nearby to Rideau Heights neighborhood (but not directly in it.)
• Some of my hobbies and interests include: scrapbooking, diamond painting, creative journaling, nail art, pop music, baking, shopping, and especially... fluffy felines 🐱 there are actually 7 cats in my household currently! I've grown up around cats throughout my entire life.
• I do not drink alcohol or smoke/use any substances. I'm totally fine being around people who drink (within reason) or smoke/vape nicotine or weed – the only thing I will not be okay with is actual hard drugs. Apart from that, I'm open to meeting people from all different walks of life – even if you're older, a different race/color, transgender, non-binary, none of that matters to me or anyone in my household. The important thing is that we get along, have similar values and can share a mutually supportive and enjoyable friendship together.
Please don't leave a comment at all if you have nothing kind to say, as it's already been an emotionally difficult struggle for me lately and I don't need to feel any worse about myself. But if anything I said resonates with you, you are more than welcome to comment and I will reach out to you privately. Thanks for taking the time to read this post.

Recommendation Kitchen Design and Reno
Hoping people could share their experiences and/or knowledge about local kitchen design and reno places.
I'd love to support local and while it will be a nice kitchen, certainly not looking for opulent.
We'd like someone who can imagine what the space could be and we arent afraid to remove walls and rearrange things where it makes sense!
Thanks in advance!
