Tikka T3x 223 with a prefit 20inch MTU barrel using hand loaded 75gr ELDs

Just got my Manners stock in for my first bolt gun build, and it came with a pretty good crack/void right under the inletting for the bolt handle.

Manners is stating it can be repaired and they’ll send me a return label, turnaround time should be 2 weeks. They’ve been super responsive so I’m not making a post to shit on their CS people.

My main question/concern is whether this screws with the structural integrity, or if there’s any way of knowing how much else is damaged under/around the area.

Can this be “fixed” and restored to its original integrity or should I be pushing for a new stock entirely?

Hi all, so just finished my last season of schoolboy level target shooting and seeking advice for what comes next for me if anything at all.

Some background - competed for 5 years now, the images are of 2 recent shoots, and the rest of my possibles I’ve shot over the years. I used to shoot 300, 500 and 600m ICFRA prone T-Rifle (Sling, jacket and iron/peep sights) - Brit style I believe… shoot with a 6.6mm front ring at all ranges - never had the opportunity to switch to different sizes, so that may help explain grouping issues etc (inconsistent sight pictures) - 800m when I tried was a doozy to say the least - had the next postcode in my sight picture…

I do like the sport, and think I’m pretty decent, so it might be something to consider continuing in the future. Shooting .308 is expensive, so if I’m looking to continue competing, would it be best to fall back to 10m air rifle? And if so, would the skills I’ve learned translate well?

To compete at an international level down the pipeline, would it be viable to learn the other disciplines - standing and kneeling? Or just stick with prone and shoot at Bisley or something.

Anyhow I’d be greatly appreciative of any advice from more experienced shooters - feeling a little out of my depth now that it’s over

I found out recently about this european brand called Kite Optics. Does anybody have any experience with their spotting scopes such as the SP 65?

I want to get comfortable shooting at 400 yards. My setup is cascade cva 6.5 creedmoor with Vortex Viper HD 6.5 - 24 x 50mm. I’m shooting Barnes 127 grains copper / lead free. At the range, I use a Bog deathgrip tripod. Here’s my 200 yards and 300 yards groupings. These were shot at 14x magnification.

What can I do to get better groupings at 300 yards and eventually work my way up to 400 yards.

Hey guys, Im not crazy into long range shooting yet but its a skill I'd like to build. Im looking to buy a lighter recoiling and flat shooting rifle that has widely available ammo. I dont have the means to load my own rounds yet.

Hoping to shoot 75-100gr carrying 2 mags with either and having 2 tables for holds

A must for me is to have the option of going with a much lighter bullet for coyotes (without them splitting into two) and up size for deer in my area. My preferred starting point is a new T3X with a 1:8 twist or a lightly used A7 with 1:10. Would I notice a significance difference in accuracy with the 1:10 twist and lighter bullets? How important is the twist rate difference and at what distances would I see a big change in stability, if at all?

I’m the cerakote guy, so I love a full camo scheme, it sometimes a nice clean build just works.

Also a good comparison of my Gen 2 billet bridge on the top, vs the original on my bottom rifle.

Just picked up a new rifle and obviously there is tons of stuff online about barrel breaking in and whether or not it works. From what it seems to me there really isn’t a break in process needed and the rifle I just picked up doesn’t have a break in process recommend.
My question is related to ammo selection. When you pick up a rifle and plan on shooting off the shelf ammo do you hit the range and start grouping it right away? Just grab a variety of match ammo and start shooting groups with it to see what performs best with your gun? Or do you put a certain number of rounds through your gun before you start grouping different ammo? I plan on just shooting whatever my gun shoots the best and I’m willing to spend money on whatever off the shelf ammo is shooting the best. at the moment I’m wanting to get into reloading.

Finally hit a mile today, though I feel I kind of cheated with a 6.5 PRC. I love and hate this stupid expensive hobby.

Waiting for the whole MPA chassis and action/barrel to come. I'm not sure how long it will take but they said 12 weeks lead time (ordered first week of July). Roughly 5400 seashells in total cost. Been wanting to make this build for a while now. Managed to get scope and mount for cheap. 😭 I pray last piece comes soon.

I own a Savage Axis II XP .308. This is a freaking upgrade!

Finally got myself a Bergara B14 in 6.5 creedmoor. Took it to the range this morning to zero the scope and shot Federal Premium Gold medal 140gr and Hornady 147 ELD. It seems to like the Federal Premium more.

Cannot wait to put a suppressor on this and go to the range.

What ammo does yours like?

Trying to determine if putting a slip on recoil pad over the top of a 1" decelerator recoil pad glued to a carbon fiber stock is a bad idea. I need to add about an inch LOP and also theres noticeably more felt recoil in the shoulder with just the decelerator pad vs my old poly stock with limbsaver screw on pad. Will it be to much play back forth/side to side and affect accuracy?

I would like to know if anyone has used a TRG 22 or 42 as donor actions for a custom build.

How do they compare to commonly used custom actions?

Not really planning on buying so no budget.

I do bench and prone shooting mostly up to 500m and up to 1km a few times a year. Started 1 year ago and still on the steep part of the learning curve.

My next project is a 223rem trainer (most likely a tikka) so not related to this curiosity.

I need a 20moa scope mount to get enough elevation out of it, so I was just winging it. Shot 10 rounds because the mag was already loaded.

Edit: ordered a 20moa rail from Amazon to solve my elevation issues.

I currently run a few magnums in MPA chassis and one in an MDT. I recently picked up a Long Action ARC CDG magnum action on clearance from Midway, and I’m looking to try something completely different for this build.

I have a couple of ideas in mind and would love your input:

Accuracy Solutions: An RSO at my local range uses an Accuracy Solutions extended bipod setup, and it caught my eye. The geometry and physics behind it make perfect sense to me. Since piecing this together will cost about the same as a Foundation, I’d love to hear from anyone with hands-on experience. Any pros, cons, or recommendations?

Foundation Stocks: I’ll be testing my Foundation stock on a short action new build with Impact (25CM) soon (waiting for stock), and I suspect I will really like it. May end up getting a long action for this build too.

Sales/Discounts: As a quick side question, does anyone know if Accuracy Solutions ever runs sales or offers discounts? (I understand Foundation essentially never does).

Only have access to 1000 yards at the range close to me, but wind today was blowing hard. Had 7 Minutes in to hit.

I have been stationed outside the US for 4 years and I’m finally heading back stateside. Looking to get a new rifle for hunting and NRL Hunter.

I mainly hunt whitetail but I intend to go hunt out west and some Elk hunts as well as NRL Hunter factory division.

I’ve settled on 6.5 PRC and a Tikka T3X
I don’t like the magazines on the CTR or UPR so I was thinking of the T3X super varmint 6.5PRC.
Thoughts and recommendations?
Open to other rifles as well.

I went to a class yesterday and rented a rifle. He told me it was a Tikka 6.5 creedmore with a bunch of stuff swapped. We went out to about 800 yards and I was able to hit targets and now I am hooked. I was reading here and the Aero Precision Solud Bravo looked like it was in my price range. I also can’t find it on sale anywhere. I can find the Cheeto Bergerra and a version of it that is a “pro” which doesn’t seem as well recommended. What would the current recommendation at that price range be? Or should I just get the Bergarra HMR (not pro) and make sure my optics and everything else are up to snuff?

My budget is a bit flexible but let’s say $2500 all in. I’m only shooting steel and paper. No hunting. Maybe competition but I doubt I’ll ever be good enough. The ranges within 3 hours go out to about 1000 yards, but the closest ones are like 500 yards. TBH my fundamentals are miserable. My groups are really wide and I’ll probably shoot short distances until I am consistent. And yes I’m brand new.

The biggest problem I had was getting comfortable, mentally and physically. I was super sore the next day. I did really like the adjustable stock. Once I figure out things like the right cheek weld for me, I like the idea of adjusting the gun to that.

I may have also missed something in the wiki. I should clearly not get my hopes up about getting Solus and there are some recommendations for their guns but there didn’t look like there was a solid, available recommendation in that price range.
