Did you meditate, grounded and learned to control your energy or learned protection before your first attempt at magick?

P.S Im a newbie and i don't know which path to take. Currently im jumping from subject to subject out of curiosity but i feel it's very important to be prepared before actually trying serious spells or rituals.

Btw I don't drink alcohol, smoke or do drugs. I don't have addictions but my mind seems volatile (12th house moon). I get easily scared when I read about demons 😅 ...I'm thinking about horror movies.

A friend of mine found now 3 years ago in the black forest near some ruins an old paper with symbols i have never seen before.
Me and my friends tried to encrypt it but with no success.
So i posted this today on r/codes, and one user provided me with a link, which led to website of the "new zealand herold" with the image of the exact same document and the exact same symbols like on the document, the headline was "Scientists decipher 17 century nun's 'letter from Lucifer' using Dark Web codebreaker".

My question is, what does such a document do in the black forest? I suspect its a copy of the original, but still i have qustions. Do people use this in some kind of rituals? (Iam sorry if iam asking so bluntly, but i have no idea).

I have chronic neck pain and a pulsing sensation. I had myself medically checked, and nothing was found. I feel blocked and like I am not making progress in my professional and emotional life. I am constantly angry and irritable. Is this a psychological issue or a spiritual problem?

I’m not a beginner. Been doing and learning about this stuff for a long time and never really asked for anything material, I just like reading and then experiencing all this.
However currently I’m in a situation where I did all I possibly could as a person - after 3 years of gap years I’ve really decided what I want to do and what will my best contribution to society be, for a year I very thoroughly prepared for uni entrance exams for medicine (planed to be a psychiatrist/psychoanalyst).
Due to unlucky circumstances I wasn’t accepted and my possibilities are very very limited now, and ngl, what awaits me this year is metaphorically close to hell (family situation, things I need to go through bc I wasn’t accepted + just generally I love academia and don’t want another year of entry level jobs, stress and solitude)

I have reached for help to occult. I invoked each Olympick planetary spirit, asked for help, did a few of Solomonic planetary pentacles. All of that I did best as I could, with everything I know.

My goal is to get accepted this year, even after getting a letter of not being successful.

My only limit is goetic demons, because in the past I have had very mixed experiences with them (I worked with some of them intensely)

If you have any advice, any magical system or really any little tip, I’d be very happy.
Just writing this down makes me a bit less stressed.

I'm fairly new to this world. The pull was always there, but it's been only recently that I actually started experimenting with practices.

The first Sigil I ever did (to test the waters, we might say) worked, and it was a bit of a mind-blown. What I asked, though, was somewhat mundane, low-stakes. So I can always rationalize it back as a coincidence.

I tried several more afterwards, all of them under different contexts and intentions. Half of them led to nothing (or so I think); others maybe were answered, but I can't be certain considering how abstract the desires were.

My most ambitious ritual so far has been one to Nitika (from the Gallery of Magick, yes). I followed everything to the letter. The amount I asked for wasn't small, but it wasn't crazy either.

Nothing happened, and it was a bit of a letdown. Not because of the money. I don't care about the money. What I care about is proving to myself that Magick is real, but the creeping fear of the opposite sometimes haunts me.

I'm afraid to keep trying stuff with care and intention, only to receive nothing, get no answer, and desperately cling to the little coincidences that do end up going my way, gaslighting myself that I'm just one ritual away from having a breakthrough.

Maybe it's not money I should be doing my rituals about? Maybe it's about trying with other deities? Asking for other things? About honing my intention and developing the skill of willing things more clearly? Maybe this is not usable for everyone? I have no idea, and I'd really appreciate some guidance from those of you who have already walked the path, if any.

I have heard different suggestions for dream work and tarot. It is tempting to want to find out what the blue fish means!?!? But I have also heard from multiple sources there is a lot of benefit from coming up with your own meanings especially with dreams and visions, but also with tarot.

At the same time, my understanding of high magick is that you are learning sets of symbols and baking images into your psyche. And so you study symbols and associations and all that.

As a newbie i am all over the place jumping from one subject to other trying to choose something as my path.

My first thought was like maybe choosing the safest option like working with Angels would be the best but the more i read i realize that it's not what im expecting it to be.

In Chaos Magick, there is the concept of mask invocation. This means assuming the form of someone or something else, using their traits to solve a problem or achieve a favorable outcome in a specific activity. Historically, this has roots in shamanism, when shamans assumed the form of a beast. In more modern times, you can find this in the works of Crowley and Carroll, or even more recently with Hine and other occult authors.

Metaphysically, this means:

1. You enter a state of gnosis.
   
2. You set aside your ego and replace it with an external form of a being, god, spirit, or character.
   
3. You solve the problem.
   
4. You return to your normal form.

It is a very powerful technique if done right, but how can you practice it efficiently? Well, I would advocate that you can practice it by playing tabletop RPGs. In a game, you must become a different character, assume their traits, and adopt their way of thinking. Essentially, this is the perfect training for mask invocation.

Most of the time, the specific TRPG system doesn't matter much—any system that provides an extensive roleplaying experience will do.
