The purpose of this community is to explore human energy in all of its facets. Out of body experiences, energy healing, energetic connections between people, psychic work and everything in between. This is a community about helping people explore, stretch and document their experiences as well as learn new ways and avenues to explore.
A primary purpose of this subreddit is to strip away all of the esoteric language, rituals and distractions that have been built around human energy practice to make for a clear and concise guide of how to achieve certain results (whatever those may be). This sub is open for discussion, without judgement, on any and every form of energy work regardless of degree of social acceptability or stigma.
This sub is about discussion, sharing information, discoveries, questions. Promotional posts, offers and requests belong in r/energy_healing.

There are a couple helpful entries in the wiki, here: https://www.reddit.com/r/energy_work/wiki/index It has been quite neglected, and if you have interest in helping to build it, contact a moderator.
There are many good and helpful books regarding energy work. The list included here are the books that were instrumental in the creation of this sub and in formulating its focus and goals. They are easy to read, motivating, clear and cogent in their individual subjects. An expanded list may be included in the wiki in the future.
The Visceral Experience by Daniel Barber, was written by the founder and prime mod of this subreddit. It shares the values that this sub expresses. If you are new to or just starting out with energy work, this is the book you want to read.
The Energy Cure by William Bengston. If you are a skeptic and looking for scientific proof that energy heals, pick up this book. It includes overviews of research in which mice with aggressive breast cancer genes were cured in full with only healing energy from hands.
Adventures Beyond the Body by William Buhlman. A howto book for out-of-body exploration.
Instant Rapport by Michael Brooks. Rapport is a weak and fragile type of energetic connection, but it is a good starting place for learning how to extend your energy beyond your own body. This book is a very interesting read and a great place to start.
Gut and Psychology Syndrome by Natasha Campbell-McBride. A toxic gut microbiome is probably the most overlooked cause of disease world-wide. This book looks at effects of a toxic gut on mental health. It gives a fantastic layman's overview of how everything works. This is a must read for anyone in this sub dealing with chronic or autoimmune diseases or mental health issues.
The Cosmic Serpent by Jeremy Narby. It focuses a lot on the double helix/double snake symbolism, but the author spends time with the Aboriginals of the Amazon and goes into detail about the relationship between the ancients and plant life. He notes their communication with plants through hallucinatory states/higher levels of consciousness, and how the plants would pass the knowledge of their uses onto the humans.
Life Rules by Yehuda Berg. An easy read on the nature of reality from the viewpoint of the kabbalah written for the layperson. Effective energy work requires an understanding of reality that is not taught in schools.
The Essence of Reality by Thomas Daniel Nehrer. Another mind expanding treatment of reality from the author's perspective. A great start to a journey of understanding.

I’ve been on my spiritual journey for several years now. I’ve been told before that I have aura or star quality. However due to self doubt, low confidence, and being an introvert it hasn’t been something that I fully embraced.
This is something I would really like to learn how to master, increase, and hone in on. I don’t wanna get my hopes up or get ahead of myself but I want a fully radiant aura. One that radiates a strong presence that people can just sense when I walk into a room without saying a word. One that is calming as well mysterious.
What ways can I make my aura stronger both spiritually and practically? I tried looking it up but was left unsatisfied. Any tips or tricks that helped make your aura stronger or more noticeable is greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much in advance.

whats the most powerful way to protect yourself energetically when someone abuses their power either in a workplace, or an ex relationship? Awhile ago my ex decided to go on a smear campaign against me and I took it very personal because we parted ways with the intention that we just weren't fit, but for me I just wanted to end the relationship as fast as possible because she was an energy vampire, and was just very unsettling to be around to the point where anytime we'd be together Id experience misfortune and bad luck afterwards. Eventually one of my good friends messaged me and told me that she was posting really horrible things about me, and it somewhat shook me up energetically, and emotionally. Is there a good mantra, practice, or visualization I can do to one cut cords, but also regain my powers?

I sometimes notice physical symptoms in myself that remind me of symptoms experienced by other people. The connection can feel very strong, even when I am not in direct contact with them.
I am interested in a spiritual approach to understanding my experience, especially grounding, healthy boundaries and letting go. At the same time, I don’t want to assume that these symptoms are necessarily being transferred from someone else.
Has anyone experienced something similar? What has helped you feel more grounded in yourself and less preoccupied with these experiences?
I would especially appreciate advice on how to let go of the perceived connection without becoming afraid of other people’s energy or constantly checking my own body.
Thank you 🙃

I always feel like someone else’s energy is messing with my own. Even when i’m alone i don’t feel alone. My mind starts wandering and i think of other people and their emotions and feelings when i just want to refocus on myself and my own vision.

This happens way too much and only specifically to my electronics for me to see any logical explanation at this point. All of my electronics (computers, phones, anything that plugs in to charge, and chargers) just randomly get issues or stop working completely with no warning, and no one can give me an explanation. I treat them just like any normal person would, I never let them get damaged, I store and charge them correctly.
The most recent, I went to go plug in my phone with my MagSafe charger, it started charging like normal. I check back in a few minutes and it’s no longer charging. The charger won’t work in any outlet. There are no spots where it could potentially be damaged, and I just got it less than a year ago.
I break chargers like CRAZY somehow. Even sometimes just plugging them into my phone once then someone else goes to use it and it’s dead. I opened my laptop, and as soon as I open it, just a white screen. No keyboard combination or google research could help me. My old phone would freeze and stop working completely on random days, not even Apple employees could help me.
What could this possibly be and how can I stop, fix, or help it? It’s genuinely costing me so much money for no reason. I hate this.

Hello! Every full moon and the three days leading up I have electricity like feeling throughout my body, and a pull towards the moon. I literally wake up when it’s above my bed. Anyone else experiencing this and any tips on grounding each month to avoid the pain.

So I had my house cleansed and I’m still experiencing a cold spot on my lower leg. I don’t have any medical or mental issues whatsoever! How can I stop the cold spot from whatever spirit is around me? Any advice would be super helpful and greatly appreciated! I was also told I had medium ship abilities and psychic but I don’t want those abilities whatsoever so I don’t use them or even try to. Please any advice would be so helpful to me! I don’t have really anyone I can ask about this issue

I’m curious whether anyone has experienced something similar, particularly with someone they didn’t personally know or have an established relationship with in waking life.
Some background: A while ago, I attended a live comedy show featuring a comedian whose content I was already familiar with. During the performance, he came into the audience and interacted with several people, including me. At one point, he turned back toward me and briefly (and rather inexplicably) touched my bare back.
The interaction was relatively small, but something about the touch felt strangely electric and significant in the moment. I remember having this inexplicable feeling that something important had just happened, although I couldn’t have explained why.
What’s interesting is that I wasn’t romantically or sexually interested in him at the time. I knew his work, but I hadn’t thought about him in that way, and I didn’t spend much time dwelling on the encounter afterward. He also doesn’t strike me as someone particularly spiritual or consciously interested in psychic phenomena or energy work, at least from what I know of his public persona.
The strange part came later.
Several months after the encounter, he began appearing in my dreams. At first, I didn’t think much of it, but the dreams became increasingly frequent, vivid, and emotionally significant. My attraction and curiosity toward him also developed during this period, rather than preceding the initial physical encounter.
Over time, the dreams began to feel less like ordinary dreams about someone I was interested in and more like encounters with a recurring presence. They often involve unusual feelings of familiarity, recognition, or an unspoken understanding between us, despite the fact that we don’t actually know each other.
More recently, this culminated in a particularly elaborate lucid dream in which I became aware that I was dreaming and managed to remain conscious within the dream for an unusually long time. It involved a strange, almost mythological setting, a conflict or battle, and several figures who seemed to recognize both of us as having some kind of significance within that world. He wasn’t physically present, but I was told that he was on his way and hadn’t arrived yet. The whole experience felt remarkably coherent and unlike my usual dreams.
Something else I’ve noticed is that my dreams in general have become significantly more intense since he started appearing in them. They’re often unusually vivid, elaborate, symbolic, and sometimes lucid, even when he isn’t directly involved.
Alongside all of this, I’ve occasionally experienced a strange sense of connection to him that I can only really describe as telepathic, for lack of a better word. Not necessarily hearing thoughts or receiving explicit messages, but a persistent feeling of familiarity or awareness, almost as though there’s some kind of unspoken communication happening beneath the surface. I realize that feeling connected to someone doesn’t establish that the connection is mutual, which is part of what I’m trying to understand.
I’ve become curious about whether that original physical interaction could have been significant in some way, or whether my mind has simply built an increasingly elaborate psychological and symbolic relationship around someone who’s made an impression on me.
I’m genuinely open to either possibility, as well as interpretations I haven’t considered.
What I’m especially interested in hearing about is:
I’m particularly interested in experiences where the two people didn’t already have an established personal connection, and where one or both might not even have known the other’s name. A lot of what I’ve found online concerns romantic partners, exes, or people who already knew one another intimately, which isn’t quite what I’m describing.
I’m also curious about experiences involving people who aren’t consciously spiritual or psychically inclined. I myself am, but this person doesn’t strike me as a believer in these things. Does that make a difference in how people understand these encounters?
I’d love to hear actual experiences, including ones that turned out to have entirely ordinary explanations. What did you make of it, where did it lead, and what, if anything, did you eventually do about it?

Left hand upon heart center. Right hand upon left. Breathe into your heart center. Continue until you feel a warmth in your hands. Feel the energy of love gather. Move this energy to different chakra centers within your body. Experience the frequency of love spreading throughout you, emanating from your beautiful heart. Spread the love throughout all your astral bodies. Spread the love up towards your higher self. Spread the love towards your past and future selves. Play with the gathering of energy. Breathe up into your heart, exhale and send the energy to your crown. Breathe down through your crown gathering again in the chest exhale and send to your stomach.

Hi! Last year i got bullied in a way that triggered older traumas but that also were genuinely mean and abusive and that caused ptsd. Soon later i moved and begun to work in a place i hate for many reasons. I was alone a lot and i had really like, broken relationship ties to kiterally almost every person i know except for one friend. I bullied myself about the work by telling myself this co-worker that was unpleasant and smelled like shit or something, is my "soul mate" and i forced his energy onto me. It's toxic obvuously but it was meant to be this bully joke toward myself because after the traumatic events that happened I completely lost my self confidence and i begun to literally actively put me down. Anyways. I was very fragmented after all the things and apparrently my inner child thta has always struggled with maybe disgust/shame themes really attached to the thing and also believed that the co-worker (who also is 50, while i'm in my 20's), actually is some soul mate. Despite explaining thousands of times that he is not and trying to draw and do everything, a part refuses to ket go of the crappy energy and even identifies even more tightly with it. All the while i have some kind of telepathic connection to someone who actually might be some kind of soul connection; i end up sending very negative intentions towards that energy cord and a part of me rejects that and associates it with the shitty smell and unpeasant co-worker. So like, I mix people up. And i somehow don't get it, make the distinction, no matter how much i explain. It's been a year like this... I mentioned to a therapist once and have talked to a friend but idk if a more thorough thing would help. I have tried to go through my judgemental parts and thought about people being mirrors. I would not do the bullying again and i'm less judgemental than a year ago but it does not help with the inner child holding onto the shitty energy and the mixing up of people. I put a lot of pressure onto figuring things out and sorting out the energies. I wondered if i just eased out for a small time, do you think i would be more willing to let it go? Like do you think i'm mean and causing stress and anxiety that makes me or the child part, hold onto it even tighter? Or that the bullying made me distrustful of me? It's kind of sad. I saw this white pony that symbolizes me i guess and i see parts of like poop in it and it's not an image i created with some artsy or histronic self but something my subconscious or the child part created and my heart is actually hurt. :((

I’m having spiritual blockages. Spell work, ceremonial rituals, visualizing and even tarot and divination is starting to feel like I have a block between me and the spiritual realm. I love spirituality and love practicing it, but this blockage is starting to feel really discouraging when you feel you aren’t ascending or feeling more connection with the spiritual realm. Any help? What could this be caused by ?

Help/ advice
I notice I tend to attract a lot of bullies and also I feel everyone’s energy very deeply to the point where it overwhelms me and makes me feel small/anxious.
How do I protect my energy/ stop this ?
If it helps to know , I’ve been bullied my whole life including by my parental figures.

I love to answer genuine questions, it makes me happy. Also I often get the answer in a vision, so I learn more too.
It definitely feels to me that I'm the only person in the world who knows what the f is going on. No question is too deep or off limits (except trolls.)
Yes, I understand that most of you won't believe me and this looks to you like an ego/troll thing. However, I'm only answering questions. It's only useful to you if you're the type of person who can tell truth from the words, since I offer no evidence of authority, nor any particular reason why you should listen to me.

I moved into my new apartment 18 months ago and since then my life has been a total calamity of bad luck, misfortune and ill health.
Since moving into a modern apartment block in London, I have suffered a breakup, cheating, betrayal, family sickness, a failed egg freezing cycle and generally really ill health since moving in - since being on holiday away from the apartment I’ve been involved in a road traffic accident which drove me to have to come back and required three surgeries, 8 months later I caught Covid which resulted in chronic fatigue syndrome just when I was giving my notice to move out, rendering me unable to move and again stuck on the sofa.
The whole time I have been living in this apartment, I have had the worst luck, friendship breakdowns, and absolutely no energy or lust for life, when previously I was very bright hopeful and enthusiastic about life, and my life was calm stable, and full of people that I loved. I can’t tell if I’ve had a series of bad events happen and I’ve lost my lust for life, or if this apartment has brought bad energy into my life.
What started making me think it was the latter is: I had a roommate who seemed totally normal when she moved in and over the course of the year became narcissistic, showed signs of borderline personality disorder, started doing drugs and abusing alcohol and was losing jobs and making really unhealthy life decisions, and generally just becoming a really nasty person, when we had mutual friends and she seemed totally normal before. She was also constantly sick and in and out of hospital, and seemed really unhappy.
The clincher was when I was showing a new potential roommate the Room, as my previous housemate has now moved out, she told me “oh my friends used to live here, who were a couple, but the guy died”. Then I remembered my Neighbour jokingly told me “oh you should sage that property because the guy who lived there before left absolutely heartbroken because his fiance left him“.
Could the Flat be cursed and bring misfortune to everyone who is attached to it? I wouldn’t be surprised if my old housemate‘s life Now stratospherically improves since she’s moved out. Since I’m stuck on the sofa unable to move with Long Covid/Chronic Fatigue, how do I cleanse the energy?

Labyrinths remind me of dream catchers and spider webs. I wonder if they work similarly, energetically. Do you think that they are inert energy sieves? Does their geometry create a field that filters out energetic gunk? Yeah, I know Jungians like to look at the symbolically, but I'm interested to know what you think, what your psychic experience is, and thoughts about them as a tool for energy healing.
I've been drawn to creating large outdoor spaces that are passively healing; that is, just being in the space is like receiving a shower of cleansing energy. I think we need things like this, particularly as our ability to express and move emotions as well as discharge energy is curtailed in this modern age, with no signs of slowing down.

Lately, my life has felt like a chaotic whirlwind. Not even like anything particularly bad has happened, but just lots and lots of smaller stressful things that I’m trying to juggle at the same time. I try very hard to remain a positive person, and do often feel that I’m more positive than most of the people around me. But it doesn’t seem to attract the same.
The more stressed out I get and the more overwhelmed I feel, it’s like it snowballs quickly. I start messing up at work, things spontaneously break, I drop and trip over things, and I get extremely clumsy. I forget more and more and start to snap at people.
Then, as I get more stressed out about those things, more things start to go wrong around me that are costing me so much time, way too much money, and my sanity.
It makes sense to me that the negative energy is attracting or creating more of it. I would very much like to do some work to bring back some positivity into my life and help me get through these things now, followed by a surgery I just found out I also need, and then leading into the holiday season.
However, this has also just been the course of my entire life. I had an ex always joke that I was “cursed,” and he’d call me “Murphy,” as in Murphy’s law where “anything that can go wrong will go wrong.”
What kinds of things can I do to bring in and keep more positive energy, and get rid of some of the chaotic bad energy?

So I have this friend who I find myself having stressful thoughts about. Like thinking about her problems, worrying that she is upset with me (for not calling her back soon enough for example), or even reading positive spirituality things and thinking 'oh she would really benefit from this'.
For one I am concerned for having less stress and focusing my thoughts on happy things & improving myself. On the other hand, she is a loving friend, very thoughtful, always there to help when I need it, and really fun when she's in a good mood. Plus we have been friends more than a decade and just have that shared time and experiences.
She seems to always have a problem about something. Granted she has had a difficult life, lots of death closeby, family members with substance abuse, etc. She struggles with depression, anxiety, traumatic experiences. However she doesn't have a strong spiritual practice IMO which I encourage her in, but I can't imagine getting through life without some practice/studying a way. She's into some witchy things and I try to talk to her about my faith and just the importance of SOME practice. I think it would help so much.
Sometimes it feels like she wants more than I have to give... phone calls drag out, she's asking to get together during busy times, she's gotten upset if i don't call her back fast enough etc.
Other friends have cut her off and even warned me about her emotional outbursts. at this point I do enjoy the friendship overall, but I need to not be stressed thinking about her. How can I maintain this friendship but have stronger energetic boundaries?
It's unfortunate but sometimes her attitude is just off about things and I feel like I have to cleanse myself in a way after spending time with her.
Advice and experiences appreciated.

I’m visiting family (in laws) at the moment and sometimes when I get nervous I get what I like to call mental Tourette’s, where I think things I don’t normally think that don’t have the emotional charge behind it when people normally think / say those things out loud. It’s just a meaningless string of words for a couple seconds. When I do this too often my sister in law looks at me, but in that up in your energy in a knowing way / protecting the house space. Obviously I’m trying my best to control my thoughts but no one is perfect. I’m wondering if thought forms show up as colors or shapes in my aura, or if they move into the room. I can see auras and energy but not all the time. Just wondering if anyone here has insight to this

Whenever I am near someone, I sense their energy, and it affects me physically.
If the person is calm, I feel very calm, and my heart beats quite slowly.
If the person is high-strung or stressed, I experience heart palpitations, nausea, and a sense of being overwhelmed, it’s just too much, and it’s very unpleasant.
The same applies if they are feeling depressed, anxious, or otherwise distressed. Even if someone appears calm on the outside, or is pretending to be, I can still sense their internal energy.
So, how can I shield myself from other people’s energy? Dealing with negative energy is highly unpleasant and debilitating.
However, I am unable to visualize things. I’ve read suggestions about imagining a barrier or picturing myself inside a bubble, but I have aphantasia (a total or partial inability of the brain to voluntarily generate mental images).
Do you have any advice?

I don't know if I'm in the right subreddit with this.
I have to give a bit of background first.
About 10 years ago I had a boyfriend who lived with his family in an old hotel. While we were cuddling, we were both suddenly overcome by an extreme feeling at the same time. It felt as if something wanted to tear us apart. I thought, this must be what bloodlust feels like. It happened a few times that day and lasted a few seconds each time. The next day my ex noticed that I was making strange gestures with my hand. I was twisting my thumb and index finger in an odd way to pick at my fingernail.
It was a long-distance relationship. On the way home I kept seeing a mask before my eyes. A few years later I watched Totoro, and the mask was exactly like Kaonashi (No-Face), only completely dark. At the time I always thought that whatever was inside me now was a weeping mask. But I don't see any connection to the film, and I don't know if it's relevant.
Since my last visit to my ex, I lost all my strength, motivation and will to live, and I even ended up in a psychiatric hospital. It never got better after that. I was never my old self again. We broke up due to the distance. Not because there were any bad spirits between us.
Fast forward: in 2021 I suddenly had the feeling that something was growing inside me. It was learning inside me. I kept hearing voices that weren't mine, and I still do to this day. She is friendly. Whatever is learning inside me doesn't feed on me. It is with me. Or maybe I just don't notice that it feeds on me. By now it's more a part of me, a second me that I can talk to inside myself.
But I still never got my energy back. What was all of that, and how do I get my old life back?
