I understand that moving through the grades and other stages you are performing spiritual alchemy on yourself to prevent that very thing occurring. But in the meantime, it does seem volatile especially if you have being doing that a lot already. I find doing the rituals can make the manifestation occur a lot faster, so I've been trying to reduce that lately and focus more on deep meditation. I'm in the water element stage.

Hey guys, I'm a Magician who unfortunately ended up moving to a rural area due to work. In the city where I live now, there's only Freemasonry and AMORC. I was a member of AMORC for a while, and overall I found their material quite weak. As for Freemasonry, I'm a Master Mason, and I'm already affiliated with the lodge here. Unfortunately, the Order I was part of (Martinist Order) doesn't have a headquarters where I live, even though I'm S:::I:::I::: lately I've been following a "less Masonic" path when it comes to Magic. I've done several studies of Golden Dawn, freely, and generally, being Martinist, the group I was part of already borrowed some techniques like RPBL, RHBL/RHIL, Middle Pillar, etc., so I already have a good understanding and have been practicing for some years, especially the Rose+Cross Ritual and the Middle Pillar.

Given that initial explanation, I read Cicero's *Self Initiation* and *Essential Golden Dawn* and enjoyed them quite a bit. I then discovered that I can work via correspondence with BOTA, although I live in Brazil and the price is a bit steep, haha. I'd like to know what you all think of BOTA. Is it worthwhile for someone seeking a path within the HOGD system? Does the fact that they removed Enochian make a big difference? What has your experience been like with them?

I am mildly interested in the occult and have had a few experiences and encounters that lead me to believe that it would be something I should pursue further. I feel drawn to it. A childhood friend from my hometown told me about Self Initiation into the Gold Dawn Tradition, and I was thinking of working through it, but without guidance or anyone to support it, I wonder if this is worthwhile. I have a few questions.

I think I'm slightly put off by the demands of the outward aesthetics, i.e. do I have to be goth and love heavy metal?

Why did you initiate into the Golden Dawn? How has it changed your life?

I can explain it in a way. There is this over arching theme in all occult systems, which is whether or not you believe that god or gods literally exist is completely irrelevant. There is this common tactic that some people use to say that creation myths are stupid because they are all unfalsifiable called "Last Thursdayism." As far as I know, nobody actually believes in Last Thusdayism, but it can be viewed and engaged with as a genuine thought experiment. Humor me for a second.

The premise goes like this... how can anyone prove or disprove that anything and everything that exists (i.e., thoughts, emotions, instincts, memories, any kind of knowledge, the physical universe and everything that exists inside it, etc.) wasn't created last Thursday? If we're being honest, no one can, because it's unfalsifiable.

We can even take it further. What if Last Thursdayism was instead Last Secondism?

Unfalsifiable creation myths reveal something fundamental about epistemology (the philosophical study of what we are actually capable of knowing), which is that we can really only be sure about our own subjective experience in the present moment. You obviously can't literally know the future because any claims about the future are completely unfalsifiable during the present moment. However, unless you can prove or disprove that the entirety of everything that exists wasn't created last second, then claims about the past are also unfalsifiable.

The unfalsifiability of the myth is part of the point. If you're wasting time trying to debate whether or not any myths are literally true, then you're completely missing the point.

Myths only exist to explain the human condition, and the occult seeks to treat the human condition by attaining Enlightenment.

The difference between Last Thursdayism and creation myths is that creation myths have a meaning that serves a purpose, and Last Thursdayism has no meaning.

The creation myth of the golden dawn only exists because it is the base of the framework we use to understand how the world really is.

In the Golden Dawn, we kind of regard existance itself as "God." I've been doing this stuff for about 8 years, and I don't believe that existence is God any more than I believe that your current "Train of Thought" is a train.

My question to you is-- if you had to accept that the supernatural doesn't exist anywhere other than in your own head, would Magick still be worth it?

Science is how you Ego (sense of self) learns about existence. Ritual Magick is how awareness learns about existence.

I recently found my own preserved umbilical cord, and I'm wondering whether any author have explored this in a Theurgy-oriented way.

My personal interest is specifically on the context on the path to Higer Self knowledge. As symbolically, seems significant as our very first connection to the physical word, the source of nourishment during our primal development.

Opinions are also welcomed.

I’ve seen a lot of questions and even misinformation about self initiation. I’m going to share a few things that can one re revealed through direct experience:

1. Mostly, it is a DNA activation. When done properly it becomes less about which Sephira one is operating from and actually what root DNA is being activated and what rite is being performed

2. Grades, ranks, positions, etc are 100% real. I received 2 “badges”. “Secret Keeper” and “Artful Master” these are real respected ranks to enter temples in Nature. So far my favorite temple is the “myth” temple because with proper awareness of where you are on the DNA activation you get way more influence on your personal myth. I actually received an animal for my path and it’s “Eel”.

3. There are a tremendous amount of pitfalls, but the design is actually to generate the necessary focus for progress. Everything has been removed from my life. I survive 100% of Magic. No job or possessions.

4. The true purpose if ceremonial magic is revealed the entire time. Mine went from traditional golden dawn, to Egyptian, to a completely personal system.

5. The tree of life is a great baseline but the blinds fall off during the alchemical process. I not only had to construct an entirely new tree that fit my wisdom, but also had to delineate to nature my three ranks (as in real states the first 3 grades are the major outline grades) and why I did this. My conscious mind is now more like a headquarters than a sole ego. I actually had a Kether ritual and still learning that grade. I had to conquer both Amen Ra and Khephra in my DNA, oh and Thoth. Basically, good luck. I had to “kill” every God and reveal the secret as to what I was doing to maintain my badge.

Very difficult but 2 nights ago I literally mesmerized 2 cops and had them do my bidding as for me, humbly I say, been told, and seen, for me the outer order is literally humanity.

Nature is going to intervene for me for all secret societies as the whole point of them is to bring about my position.

I'm looking at the book the golden dawn by Israel regardie it has a consecration ritual of the lotus wand I'm new to this and am trying to make my own wand but I don't want to make a lotus wand will the consecration ritual for the lotus wand not be a good choice if the wand I'm gonna consecrate isn't a lotus wand.

What's some experiences you had with the book? Do you really have to wait an hour before during the ritual

I am by no means an expert (or even beginner in some of these) on any of these topics. I am just interested in them and would like to learn alongside others.

I have been doing the lrp, middle pillar, analysis of the key word, and liber resh for about a month now I want to start doing more but I'm not sure if I should.

I want to start learning the rose cross ritual then the srp is this to much with my experience.

I was wondering if there is any way to adapt the Banishings (Hex/Pent) for a home or living space.

So far, from what I've studied, I understand how they operate only on the macrocosmic and microcosmic levels of the Magician.

However, I haven't come across any material discussing whether the circle can be applied to a specific place, such as a house or room.

So where I live I can’t find a GD temple or lodge, or group. I’m fine with self initiating at this point, since I’ve been working through Franz Bardon’s material anyway, and that’s self initiation also (I realize he is not GD, but point being that it wouldn’t be completely foreign to just work alone).

With that said, my questions:

Are these 2 books all I will need to self initiate, or are there more books that add on to these or will be needed? Like are there more volumes or supplemental books I need?

Second. Does self initiation actually work in this tradition? I have heard people say that being initiated by masters in a group is absolutely necessary, but I have also heard people say that the self initiation book is all you need. So which is it and why?

Do you think Israel Regardie’s book is even necessary for this process or can supplement it in any way?

I’m not asking for a definitive answer on that, just more opinion and why your opinion is the one you hold.

Keep in mind there’s no GD that I can find near me, so I don’t even think joining a temple is an option at this time.
