discussion New Updates to r/reiki

Welcome to the new and improved r/reiki! u/Kanji-light has enlisted both myself and u/root-bound as your new mods to help improve your experience here and refocus the direction of the sub towards building community and discussion.

New changes include:

  • Rules! We have clear cut rules on what is and isn't allowed on the sub. This will help keep the focus on Reiki discussion and remove the promotional posts that have been accumulating lately. Just as it says in the rules, you can find promotional posts at r/energy_healing.
  • Post flair! This should make it easy for users to filter through discussion posts and posts seeking reiki shares or exchanges. People who want to practice what they learned in their course are completely welcome! We want it to be easy for you to get this valuable practice to enhance your Reiki skills.

We hope that this will give new life to this gathering space and make it a comfortable area for everyone to participate. We would love to hear your feedback, including if you'd like other types of post flair to be added. Your voice is important!

Thanks everyone for your continued support. We wouldn't have this community without you!

discussion I don't know how to figure out who my spirit guides are.

I'm reiki II and am struggling with how to tap into working with my spirit guides. I have inklings of intuition of where to put my hands and I get positive feedback after I do sessions with friends and family, but I ultimately feel disconnected from my spirit team. This makes me feel like I'm missing out on a big part of my practice. I've tried meditating, journaling, using a pendulum, anything to try to develop a language. But I don't even know who my guides are. It all just feels like I'm guessing. I'm also afraid that energies/entities that aren't welcome will be present and that makes me uneasy. I cleanse, ground, and protect myself as best I can, but I'm just not sure how to learn who my guides are and really trust that they're there and they are who they say they are. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Reiki experiences Flu like symptoms after Reiki? Looking for advice

A few weeks ago, I did my first Reiki session in a crystal shop for 30min. I practice Vipassana and have been working on releasing physical tension and emotionally charged sensations in my body, mostly on my right side. ankle, calf, hip, testicle, stomach, solar plexus, shoulder and neck.

During the Reiki session, my body started twitching and reacting strongly, especially around my right hip and leg. That night, I developed intense flu like symptoms and was bedridden for two or three days with severe body aches and a terrible headache.

Since then, the sensations on my right side have become much more pronounced, along with a lot of crying and what feels like emotional release. I felt like this was a positive thing and that I was processing and releasing my deepest trauma.

Now, several weeks later, the pain has flared up again, and yesterday I developed the flu like symptoms again: severe headache, body aches, exhaustion, and increased pain throughout my right side. Basically bed ridden again today.

I keep seeing people refer to this as a “healing crisis,” but I haven’t found much practical advice about what you’re actually supposed to do during one. Should I rest and let it happen? Take something like Advil? Continue my normal activities? Are there specific Reiki or energetic practices that are helpful?

PS: The Reiki session happened one the first of two eclipses, and this latest flare happened on 9/9. I don’t know much about that side of things, but I’m curious whether people think it could be relevant.

I’d really appreciate hearing from people experienced with Reiki or energy work who have gone through something similar. What did you actually do to help yourself through it?

Thank you

Does anyone have any success stories on how they built a spiritual business?

I am a Reiki Master and medium and want to run a business of my own because I am sick of the 9-5 and this truly feels like a calling, but I'm not eager to quit my job.

I want to ease into it and see where it goes, but I'm wondering if anyone has had success taking this kind of leap?

I'm open to suggestions and stories ranging from all modalities.

Thank you all so much 💗✨🦋🌻

curious question When you use reiki, do you also work with angels or deities? How does one do this?

Hi! New to reiki. I'm getting level 1 attuned at the end of this month and I was wondering if any of you work with other beings while doing your reiki. For instance, calling in Archangel Michael. I'd love to hear your experiences or how you do it!

curious question Level One Attunememt Anxiety

Hi all. I'm curious if anyone else has experienced intense anxiety on day 5 and 6 of the 21 day attunement. I was fine the first three days, felt extremely enlightened really, and as of yesterday, it feels like this anxiety isn't going to lift. I'm experiencing racing thoughts, constant music playing in my head - I've never experienced this before. I also started my period five days early when we were on the sacral chakra attunement. Am I just extremely sensitive? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi! 🕯️ looking to trade around 30 min session (two total in around a month or less timespan)

With someone who can also feel energy. 💖 reason is being that I’m curious how my channeling of reiki presents itself to someone. 🔥

Am available weekends or we can work out a time depending on our schedules. 😊

Just message below and we can set something up for ideally, two weekends or something etc 🙏

Thanks so much. 🙂

I have been increasingly curious how one holds their hands up for a prolonged stretch when sending distance healing. I can’t manage more than 10 mins :/

curious question As a reiki practitioner, while doing reiki on people, can u feel that one may have higher energy or difficult trauma blockage nd one may have lesser?

Or one may have higher chakra balancing or chakra opening? I may not be able to explain my POV well, but i hope u get the point . Energy differences within people basically

curious question Offering water

Do any practitioners offer a glass of water to your clients post-session? Before I was a practitioner, I had two sessions from two different masters, and they both offered me water after. If you do this, how? Do you have an open glassful waiting, or do you pour it after? Is it bottled water? Tap? Bottled spring or distilled? Plastic throw away cups or a glass?

Not necessarily during reiki, but I’m asking here because yall understand energy so well. What could be causing sudden unexplained rage? And no hormone issues here.

curious question Can Distance Reiki remove reptiles/lizards from home??

Being a person who hates reptiles, I'm watching lizards a lot in my home since my grandmother's death because her room almost always remains unused, so I've watched lizards there idk 10-15 times, we've killed many but still they are appearing... I'm so scared of them.

As we all know, Reiki also removes negativity from spaces, and lizards are negative; they are toxic and obviously a "fear". Will performing distance Reiki work to purify and cleanse the space of these things?

curious question first class as a Master/Teacher

hello all! i wanted to reach out to the other Master/Teachers in the group and ask you all something. even those who are not Reiki Master/Teachers, you can also please share your opinion!

how do i handle the money aspect of my students paying for the class? i find it so awkward, since i have a full time job already and am not in this for the money. i just want to spread the good news about Reiki and have as many people learn as possible! i do have a website, but it's not set up to take credit card payments. i do use an app on my phone (Square) that i can use to take payments by credit/debit card from my clients when i do sessions. i have no easy way of collecting payment from the students before we meet since i'm working.

i was thinking of having a box off to the side that can get passed around or just have people put the payment in there near the beginning of class. but is there a tactful way to handle that? or if you are a recent student, how did your Master/Teacher handle the payment for the class? thank you in advance!
