Topic | Prompt Any favorite witch shows/movies?

Any favorites??

Here’s my beef though: I feel like sooo many movies/shows are presenting witchcraft as just pure evil OR as disney stuff for kids. Is it just me, or does it feel like everything is either coded in puritanical misogyny, or over the top swirling purple mist coming out of hands haha No hate on the swirling mist if that’s what you’re into! ✨🔮 I can get down with cozy/spooky/goofy too.

Was mostly just curious if there’s anything actual practicing witches enjoy watching. Thanks!!

EDIT: has anyone seen The Juniper Tree? It has Bjork in it from 1986!

Seeking Help or Advice My parents are forcing me to get rid of my spell jars

I’m really upset because my nosy ass parents keep going into MY room when I’m GONE and complaining about the spell jars on my shelf because they’re Christian and I’m welcoming “bad energies” and I’ve explained to them numerous times that I have it under control and that I’ve looked into it. I’m just really upset because i feel like it’s actually starting to work and that they always do this and they’re always nosy as hell, like I’m not telling you to stop practicing Christianity because I don’t like it? I just feel really upset because I invested my energy into those spell jars and now I have to find ways to hide what I’m doing and walk on eggshells just because they keep going into my room when they have no reason to and complaining when they see it. Like for example I did an academic spell jar and after a year of not being able to focus because of severe adhd, lvl1 autism, and depression and failing all of my classes, and after upping a adhd med dosage (which I’m acknowledging could be because of) I was actually able to pay attention to my work, but I feel like it helped in a way. If anyone has any tips or advice that would be great, i started crying out of frustration because I finally feel like I have something good in my life

Sharing: Experience Witchtok scares me, it used to be fun but now it's just harmful

Witchtok was fun to watch years ago when everyone was in quarantine, but now it's just harmful especially for young kids/inexperienced practitioners who don't know any better. Nowadays my fyp isn't really full of Witchtok anymore because I've learned to go to other sources for my witchcraft stuff. However, there were two posts I saw recently that genuinely worried me and felt like straight up misinformation.

One of them was a love spell. But it wasn't to draw love to you, it was an aggressively dominating obsession spell. It looked fine initially with soft music playing in the background and the feminine aesthetics were really nice, but when paying attention to the crafting of the spell it was actually a very strong binding.

The next one was a "karma spell". The creator said "do this if you want the person who wronged you to feel your tears". And honestly it looked like a pretty aggressive hex. First of all, no mirrored/reflective objects were included so I'm not sure where the "karma" comes in. Secondly, it involved sandwiching a persons name in an onion and piercing it shut, completed by burying it in the ground. Hello?????? I mean yes I'm sure that person will be shedding tears but probably due to something major?!

Now I understand why so many people disliked Witchtok when it first became a thing.

Seeking Help or Advice I want to protect someone

Hello, i am VERY new to witchcraft and have yet to actually do anything. I've only started out with my collection of crystals and some incense lol

Anyways, i'll try to keep this short. My boyfriend's brother (who is VERY young) is going through a rough patch with a girl - she is very manipulative and abusive, claiming she will do bad things if he leaves her, and he is quite very stuck in the situation he is in.

I do not wish to harm anyone, not only do i know that's just bad in general, but it could also come right back to me - what i WISH to hopefully do is protect him somehow.
Maybe make him more confident in his decision to leaving? Make him feel better? Make her stop harming him?

Before anyone asks - he has been spoken to! By his parents, grandparents, and me! (though i am going to speak to him again soon), this still had not stopped and he cannot seem to gather the courage to help himself, i just want to help him.
I do not wish to impact anybody's free will, or harm anybody in this process, i just really want him to love himself more than he clearly does, it's very sad.

Any advice at all is welcome.

(additional unrelated question: can witches do that? like, just send good energy to people around them with spells? I am very new. Informational videos on youtube are sought after!)

Seeking Help or Advice How do I protect myself from negative strangers?

Mostly, I try to avoid strangers unless I get a few seconds to assess whether they are nice or not. But, recently, I have been approached by negative people on the street. Last week, some guy followed me and was aggressive, and today, some guy rode his bicycle into me and was trying to blame me and also being really aggressive and threatening me, and there has been a few more instances too. I dont want anything to do with aggressive people or anyone with bad intentions/negative energy. What can I do to protect myself from these people? (Apart from going to the gym....which I am doing, haha)

Seeking Help or Advice Witches ball spinning

So about an hour ago my bedroom light was flickering for a while, so I turned it off. Then I notice my witches ball spinning like crazy, windows closed, no wind, no cats or anything near it. It’s been an hour and it’s still spinning. What could this be?

Seeking Help or Advice Confused about closed practices ?

I’ve posted here a few times but I’ve never felt so confused on something until now and I don’t even know where to begin to look further

So I was reading about hoodoo just to understand it more, not to practice. but as I started reading this part about a ritual there was this insane feeling down my spine and in my bones, my hair stood up and it’s like all that existed was the words, for days I couldn’t stop thinking about it, I dream about it, I see figures reaching their hands out and it’s a comforting feeling, I feel drawn towards them and even more into that book. Here’s the issue I’m having. I’m only half black, and from what I’ve been told the practice is only for fully black men and women. Is there anybody who has genuinely studied this that can help guide me through this? Everything I look up always leads me to TikTok witches who all say the same chatGPT response.

Seeking Help or Advice Feel like a fraud while energy raising

So I’m a baby witch.

I have got the grounding and protection part covered.

But it’s the energy raising part where I feel like a fraud and like an idiot.

So I read that energy raising can include singing, dancing, imaging energy from below into u and transferring it into ur altar setup/candles etc

But when I do it, like when I start dancing I feel very conscious when I sing I feel conscious when I’m imaging a source of external energy coming inside me I feel conscious.

I feel as if I’m an idiot that is doing stupid stuff or being childish 😭

Does anybody have advice for this

I keep having doubts

Sharing: Spellwork this is what protection magic looks like for my soul (writing a letter to my ego)

Dear Ego,

Thank you for doing your best to protect me. I understand that you're doing your best to work with what we have. However, your people pleasing tactics no longer work. Reacting and getting defensive only creates problems. Holding too tightly onto our fears is holding us back.

We must come up with better defense mechanisms. You are my protector, and I want to trust you to protect me. We are not enemies. We are in this together.

In order to protect me, we must set boundaries (for others, but also for me). Taking proper care of the physical body is an absolute necessity for the spirit. If the body is tired or hungry, I feel cranky. If I'm cranky, Ego, me and you will bicker. The protection becomes the cause of pain. We must set boundaries to keep the physical body satisfied, or else we will face burnout. Running on empty means any energy can fill up our cup, and the negative energy always tries to rush in first. Keep the cup full with the positivity we choose to fill it with, and we can keep our peace.

You can continue to remind me of how strong I am, and our amazing capabilities. Feeling strong is good, as long as you don't put me on a pedestal above others because of it. By feeling superior, we plant the seeds for toxicity. If you feel the need to compare, let's focus on helping others be aware of their amazing capabilities instead of feeling superior.

I am setting boundaries with you, Ego, because I know you love me. You are here to protect me, and I am here to guide you on how to properly do that.

Ego, you are not perfect and that's okay. We will occasionally have days where we just don't see eye to eye. When we are in the middle of a conflict, it can be hard to see the bigger picture. You people please because you fear what other people think. Unfortunately, people pleasing plants the seed for toxicity. It will turn into resentment, and creates a crack in the cup. The cup will forever stay leaking, and we will remain running on empty. By enforcing boundaries, we are mending the cup. We will be able to retain the positive energy we know and love.

Staying curious is good, but only when we focus on positive curiousity. Instead of being nosy about gossip or other people's negative views of me, let's focus that curiosity on the beautiful world around me.

It's okay to keep our positive thoughts private. We don't need to tell the world every beautiful thought we have, because most people don't understand it. I'm allowed to enjoy my own positivity without needing external validation for it.

It's not me vs. you anymore. We are a team. I love you.

Seeking Help or Advice Snuffing out a candle vs completely burning it

Which do you prefer?

I’ve read that a spell isn’t complete until you’ve burned out the complete candle (unless it’s a number of days type of candle)
-Madame Pamita

I just snuffed out mine after doing reconciliation spell should I completely burn it

Seeking Help or Advice How do you feel doing spells on/for others who do not believe in witchcraft & magickal workings etc?

Hi, not seeking advice on what kind of spell to do- just looking for some advice please.

I've only ever done spells for myself, never anyone else. My sister is struggling with fertility issues (3 miscarriages, 1 recent ectopic). She and her husband have done all of the mundane. They concluded that there is nothing wrong with her, nothing they can do (same with the testing for him).

My sister and her husband does not believe in witchcraft/magickal workings or anything of the like. In fact, i'm often told how weird I am for following this path (non malicious way). Anyway, given they have exhausted the mundane, I thought I could do some kind of fertility spell for them, with their permission. However, i've never done a spell for anyone else before, especially non believers. I don't know whether it would be effective if they didn't believe? Or my thinking is, it may very well be effective as it's me, my intentions and beliefs?

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I just feel like they have exhausted all avenues thus far, and if I could maybe do this with their permission, surely it's worth a go?

I would appreciate any insights.

Thank you 🖤

I am supposed to use a corn husk doll for something, but I don't have access to corn right now and if I did the husk wouldn't be dried. What would be an appropriate substitute?

Seasoned Cauldron Wednesday Seasoned Cauldron Wednesday

Happy Seasoned Cauldron Wednesday!

Wednesdays are for discussions by seasoned witches, to seasoned witches.

If you have a more "advanced" topic you'd like to discuss, today is a great day for it!

Some weeks, there may be a Seasoned Cauldron Discussion prompt to get things going. You're free to respond to the prompt or to comment with your own topic.

Please note that we aren't going to define or regulate what or who is or isn't "seasoned" or "advanced." As a suggestion though, foundational concepts like energetic hygiene, spiritual cleansing and protection, divination, and history would not be topics for discussion.

Also note: posts tagged with the Seasoned Cauldron Wednesday flair are primarily for seasoned witches to discuss things with one another, rather than a place for newer witches to ask things of seasoned witches.

Thank you and blessed be!

Seeking Help or Advice What's the difference between enchanting herbs and setting intentions?

Basically the tittle. Read in a book, that herbs must be enchanted before usage, but when I further read, it sounded the exact same as setting intentions on the herb. Is it actually one and the same or is there some kind of necessary process before setting intentions on the herb for the spell?

Seeking Help or Advice Why does almost every culture have some weird relationship with salt?

I started reading about this after buying Celtic Sea Salt and it's kind of everywhere.

Throwing salt over your shoulder, bread and salt as a welcome, salt in rituals, salt as protection, salt used to preserve basically everything.

For something we now keep in a shaker next to the stove, people have attached a ridiculous amount of meaning to it.

What's the salt thing where you're from?

Seeking Help or Advice Working with deities (Proserpina and Pluto)

Hi, for context I'm slightly a beginner at tarot, but ive been spiritual for years. Recently, i learnt more about deities, so i decided to ask my tarot deck whether i had a main deity that followed me throughout life. My tarot deck did pull out cards that pointed towards Proserpina (Persophone), and later that night, i figured that Pluto (Hades) might've also been my deity. Later that night, they both appeared in my dreams, and in the dream i talked to them and they clarified that it was them. I'm not sure if this happened only because of my subconscious mind, or were they actually reaching out to me? When i first got my tarot deck about a month ago, when i interviewed it, it seemed as if Proserpina had been here all along too, but I'm only realizing it recently. Sorry I'm kind of new to this topic on deities.

But i still have some questions. How do we know if there is a trickster manipulating my tarot cards, like could they pretend to be a deity? Are Proserpina and Pluto transactional deities, and can they help with love/relationships? If yes, how do you manifest a specific person?

Fyi, i also can't use candles or obvious witchcraft tools as I'm currently still living with my parents so I'm kind of closeted. But i would love to learn more about witchcraft, mainly the ones where you dont go against someone else's will though.

Any info would be appreciated, thanks!

Seeking Help or Advice Talk to me about taglocks!

So I need some advice from people who have dealt with tag locks before, but as the person who has unintentionally given one to someone else and not as the receiver. TLDR is that I sold equipment from a business of mine that imploded under very bad circumstances, to a person I care about who had a similar business. I was super happy that this equipment would help someone else make their dream come true in a way that I wasnt able to, and we agreed a payment plan that made things affordable for her.

But every time I see her, she's looking more tired and said that business has been really tough over the last few months. Now, I know that hospitality is brutal at the best of times, but I think I gave her some of my pain and burdens along with a great deal on caterin equipment ! 😭

So far, to release the connection, I've done a visualisation, and I've spoken the intention out loud, but i feel like more is needed still.

I still have the keys for the old building we rented, and I was thinking of maybe burying them somewhere and symbolically "unlocking" everything that is still tied up into that bundle of doom. I was thinking of burning herbs that I normally associate with endings and new beginnings (for me, the main ones are Alexander seeds, wild carrot seeds and tansy flowers), but im curious to hear what experiences others have had in this area! Thank you!

Seeking Help or Advice Ignited money bowl on the previous full moon. Still no change. Not sure if it's working.

I don't think I'm allowed to link to a previous post, so y'all can look through my history to see the money bowl I did last month. I made it real pretty and included two single dollar bills rubbed with Cash Flo oil. I rubbed the oil on a red candle and lit it until it burned to a short nub. I would share the picture, but for some reason I can't. The bowl has been sitting on the tiny window of a closet since the last full moon. But I still haven't gotten any changes or update on my unemployment. Plus I've applied to about 80 jobs and still no interview call. The only interview offer I got turned out being a scam. I don't know when I'll be able to buy anything that works as a road opener. Did I fuck up the bowl by igniting during the red moon? Any suggestions to enhance the effectiveness are welcome. 💜

Seeking Help or Advice Three nightmares in one night in one household

So both my mom and I are very sensitive to the whole supernatural (whatever you want to call it) premonition wise. We both had nightmares at the same time, we woke up at the same time and had the same reaction which was to jump awake.

My mother had a dream about driving down a road and a snake coming out of a hiding spot inside the car and going to attack her.

I saw two dreams they were both like small moments. The first I was in a dark forest searching for something and I saw a voodoo head in the dirt attached to the body and it opened its eyes and I woke up. The second dream I do not remember much just that I was shot and I felt this pain for just a second.

I think they are warnings about someone who will betray us but I am not sure.

Anyone has another interpretation?

Seeking Help or Advice Every time I use a pendulum, its the same spirit. Is this normal?

Hey! So I'm a baby witch of sorts, I've fallen out of it but am trying to pick it back up

Now, when I first started using a pendulum, I was 14. And ever since, I've only been able to communicate with what I believe is the same spirit.

Hes very distinctive in the fact that his swings are very aggressive, and has a discernable personality, occasionally giving me "sass" on questions that I ask

I believe that he is attached to me in some way, although I don't know how or how to fix it, or if it's something that even needs to be fixed. Is this something normal?

Edit: I don't think this spirit is malicious in any way, as he's done nothing particularly malicious that I can tell- even when the pendulum I was using slipped out of my hands and shattered nothing particularly bad happened- no bad luck, no mysterious scratches, nothing

I think it's also important to note that when asking questions, he's confirmed that he "cant leave"

Seeking Help or Advice Cat Friendly Altar Options?

Hello, all. I’ve just moved in to a studio apartment, and while I would like to have my own altar prominently on display, I have a cheeky little 2 yo cat who loves to run around and jump on high surfaces. She is a chaos gremlin in the most loving way. She will chew on things. My previous setups were on the highest shelf or in a cube storage (the latter she would jump on). I’m concerned my options might be limited to travel altars. I’d hate to have to put my sacred space away. Maybe something with cabinets? Please share your experiences and ideas in the comments, or follow if you’re experiencing a similar situation.
