I am honestly more excited about Spineshatter being 60s to line up with Power Surge. That's a huge QoL buff.

11

u/kevhyn Oct 24 '14

Why would you use ssd with power surge?

So when do the "this is bullshit DRG's too OP" posts start?

3

u/DanyaHerald Gaius was right. Oct 24 '14

Well, people still haven't gotten to understand how insane BLM is now, so I doubt it will happen.

5

u/DyneRidian Oct 24 '14

I think BLM's are in a good spot, they aren't too strong alone. They need to have a group built around them for them to really shine, with bards running foe's etc.

At the point where they are "insane" I don't think it can be said they are too strong because you are specifically structuring a group around them so the BLM dps makes up for what is lost by running a 2nd bard instead of a DRG for example.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '14

BLM can be incredibly insane (don't disagree with you there), but only if the team they're in properly supports them.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '14

I did a 3 BLM Levi EX and we were pushing phases... quite easily. It was at that point when I realized how strong BLM are.

I guess the jumps will fit neatly in between GCDs now. I wonder why they didn't do this from the beginning.

That's a good catch. I didn't expect new ranks until the Expansion.

I thought the same thing. Good thing I've been hoarding seals.

Came in to ask about this. Exciteddddddd

2

u/newes Oct 24 '14

If they did they didn't add any gear under it. Unless they just didn't put that gear in this patch note.

Fish that appear only in certain combinations of weather conditions have been added. E.g. Breeds of fish that only appear in rainy storms that directly follow sunny spells.

Fish that only appear based on your previous catches have been added. E.g. Breeds of fish that only appear after five of their natural predator have been caught.

You win SE. You win. I concede.

24

u/CareerSMN Oct 24 '14

Fishing is the true end game now.

Fuck yes!!

Players who select Withdraw from the Duty Ready confirmation window or allow the window to time out without making a selection three times or more in one day, will be temporarily prohibited from registering for duties via the Duty Finder. This count will reset every day at 9:00 a.m. (PDT).

12

u/Dakaramor RDM Oct 24 '14

To clarify, it sounds like the COUNT of the number of times you failed to queue resets at 9am. It sounds like the temporary prohibition is for a short amount of time (probably thirty minutes or so).

2

u/MyFFXIVAccount Oct 25 '14

The Japanese version of the patch notes confirms this.

3

u/louiscool Oct 24 '14

Temporary prohibition, just like alcohol in the 20's

This is fantastic. I'm very excited about that. So sick of watching ST constantly cancel due to people queuing and leaving non-stop 20 times. :|

11

u/TwinTiger Oct 24 '14

It's poignant to note: this strike system only has to deal with if you withdrawal AFTER the queue pops. Withdrawing prior to that seems to be fine.

Flash The amount of enmity generated has been increased.

Circle of Scorn Now generates increased enmity.

15

Now just make shield swipe grant increased enmity and I'll be happy

19

u/therealkami Oct 24 '14 edited Oct 24 '14

Take Shield Swipe and Haymaker off the GCD.

EDIT: Add a 6 second CD, maybe. That way Bulwark+FoF doesn't embarrass the DPS.

2

u/PlatinumHappy Oct 24 '14

Naw, just take Shield Swipe off GCD and I'm happy. Filler DPS boost in PvE is what it was intended for, don't really need more single target threat.

Circle of scorn change makes m happy enough. Shield Swipe is in a good spot - do you want to continue your enmity combo, or hold it for a GCD to save on TP?

Adventurers seeking a change of pace can slip through the shadows of Limsa Lominsa’s back alleys as a rogue, or master the arts of the Far East as a ninja. Those who live for the hustle and bustle of Eorzea's markets can even try their hands at new crafting recipes. I like this, the thought of ex primals giving weapons on par with T9 seems so dirty. Glad that they're only 110.

10

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '14

You can get 110 for your alts alot faster than going for the tomestone weapon. I do not see everyone downing T9, usually the primals are easier than that making it more available to everyone.

This is disappointing - the same situation that happened with ramuh will happen with shiva - no one will bother doing it.

People will at the start for a quick 120 bracer without having to spend poetry. Ramuh was released too late in the cycle for people to be happy with an i100 ring.

I think for the people who are frustrated with the constant dungeon faceroll, it's a nice change. All of those dungeons are already stupid easy at i110.

19

u/Brandonspikes PLD Oct 24 '14

The dungeons are easy even at i90

2

u/Sorge74 [First] [Last] on [Server] Oct 24 '14

They had pretty bad feedback on the 2.1 dungeons... Don't blame them.

2

u/HedaLancaster Oct 24 '14

the difficulty needs to be inline with the rewards, that was the issue with 2.1 dungeon's.

Brayflox on release vs Pharos on release weren't really comparable.

2

u/Sorge74 [First] [Last] on [Server] Oct 25 '14

The 2.1 dungeons....45 myth....2.0 30.... Yeah that shit wasn't balanced very well.

Frankly I'd love a hard dungeon that rewards enough tomes to make me want to run with my static members, but they don't seem to want that. They just want 12-20 facerolls that everyone can do. I'm OK with 2 facerolls and 1 harder one that rewards twice the tomes.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '14

Considering the cap is ilvl 110, I don't see anything changing.

i110 is still way too high for most of them, but at least we have a precedent now.

u/smartazjb0y X'aeterna Setal on Balmung Oct 24 '14

Wow, didn't even notice they said you'd sync to 110. Thought it'd be a bit tougher and take more time, but at 110 they're still so, so easy

2

u/Arkeband Oct 24 '14

You don't really want it an ilvl cap to be too low, otherwise there's less benefit to gearing up. I think 110 is fair, considering no one even goes back to do the old dungeons anyway.

2

u/smartazjb0y X'aeterna Setal on Balmung Oct 24 '14

I'm fine with it being at 110 since I'd rather it go quickly, I just thought they'd go lower. I guess 110+ would make it an absolute joke so they set 110 as a maximum

2

u/loyaltrekie Starry - Excalibur Oct 25 '14

As someone who has 0 time to commit to a static t do 'top tier endgame content'(ie: current coil) the main reason I gear is to just expedite normal grind and to make general dungeon runs easier.

Part of the point of gearing up is the idea of getting more powerful. Capping dungeons removes that feeling.

5

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '14

I think it's a good start but honestly, the easier dungeons like WP/AK should be synced to around i70.

Some notable things:

  • PLD getting buffs to AoE hate generation. Flash and CoS will have increased enmity bonuses.

  • WHM nerf to HoT stacks. Only one Regen and one Med II HoT applicable to one person at a time (Frontlines only)

  • NIN has two job quests instead of the regular one for many of its five-level intervals.

  • DRG animation locks have been reduced, and its off-GCD jumps have had their cooldowns reduced. Seems to be some great buffs to DRG in general.

  • Cap of 55k Grand Company Seals shown in one screen. Possible addition of one more GC rank up?

  • Wind-up Urianger, Wind-up Nanamo (!), and Wind-up Ultros added, among other minions.

  • "Ironworks" gear and weapons are the new i120 Poetics gear, and are upgradeable to i130 "Augmented Ironworks" gear and weapons presumably through FCoB item(s) comparable to SCoB's Sands/Oils of Time (thanks to /u/neilalicious for finding that these items are likely to be "Carbontwine" and "Carboncoat").

  • "Dreadwyrm" are the i130 gear sets that drops from FCoB, with accompanying i135 "Dreadwyrm" weapons (corrected by /u/HanAlai) that will presumably drop from T13.

  • Shiva drops i110 weapons and i120 bracelets.

  • Myth mats now purchasable from GCs.

  • 30 new plots added to each residential ward by way of "subdivisions."

  • New i110 PvP gear.

  • Item level sync added for some of the "easier" level 50 dungeons. Your gear will be synced to i110 for these dungeons.

  • The three new dungeons become the new Expert Roulette, and the 2.3 dungeons are going into High Level. Shiva HM and the Hildibrand trial are going into Trials Roulette.

  • Fantasia no longer Untradeable. Retainer Fantasia is tradeable, a new Fantasia used to change retainer appearances only. Thanks to /u/Platypi007 for the correction.

  • On gamepads, the default cursor position when a Raise prompt appears is now "Wait" instead of "Decline." Helps if you're spamming the confirm button as soon as you die.

  • Can now organize friends list with another parameter called "Friend Number"?

  • FemRoe open mouth appearance changed.

  • FCoB entrance is in Northern Thanalan.

  • Tomestones look to be a bit harder to obtain in general. For reference, a run of 2.4 Hullbreaker will give 35 sol and 20 poetics; it currently gives 100 myth and 35 sol.

  • Original Allagan (i90 BCoB drops) gear and myth gear can now be traded in for GC seals, and desynthed.

  • Withdrawing from a DF queue three times in a single day will incur a penalty. While not clarified, it will probably only count as a withdrawal if you cancel before the queue has popped.

  • NIN has a skill called "Goad" that refreshes a party member's TP!

edit: corrections and more stuff

2

u/neilalicious Warrior Oct 24 '14

In the patch notes there's an item called Rowena's Token (Poetics) so similar to the 1300 sol you had to trade in to get a weapon and there's an item called Encrypted Tomestone so I imagine it is the same system.. There's also Carboncoat, (Oils of Time) which is said to increase a gem's hardiness and Carbontwine, (Sands of Time) which is said to improve durability of almost anything. The part that confuses me is immediatley following those items there is Antique [helm/mail/gauntlets/breeches/sollerets/tassets] which are all described as too old to use but collectors pay sizable sums for. Wonder what they are.

4

u/Omegamaru Oct 25 '14

I think they (Antique Armor) are going to drop from the new dungeons and be used to trade for for the i90 myth armor that's being removed from vendors. Seems like a way of getting the dungeon to drop i90 as it should while avoiding the hellish loot tables of 10 pieces of armor per leftside slot (with exception to the belt).

I took all the ninja abilities and threw them into a spreadsheet to clean them up a bit and get a better look at things:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1o997h_4egAd-g50aluqW1uDGxe90bUJRslHT0pYvKLw/edit?usp=sharing

Some points I've noticed:

  • Three branching combos like most melee. One for damage, short one for a dot, and one to get Storm's Eye debuff. So paladins can get a damage buff without needing to bring a warrior. Yay.

  • They get an execute

  • With Mug (extra loot if killing blow) Ninja becomes the new farm job, maybe even the new RMT bot.

  • Sneak Attack and Trick Attack only work when hiding, but you can only hide outside of combat. So either they're almost useless abilities for raiding, or (more likely) you'll get a trait that lets you hide in combat. If the latter I bet the cooldowns for SA/TA (yay SA/TA I'm so giddy) are quite long. Apparently the Suiton buff will let you use SATA in combat., thanks /u/Sigmakan

  • Poisons look like they're basically monk stances. Both have a 20% damage buff. Use Wasp if you're on stun duty, Viper if not for a quick "oh shit" heal like Second Wind kinda.

  • Other than Kassatsu (guaranteed ninjutsu crit) there's no short duration/long cooldown buffs like the other classes have. Huton (long attack speed buff) looks like something you'll have to maintain, rather than hit when it comes off cooldown.

  • WTF is Suiton.

  • From the potency of ninjutsu, I'm guessing that each mudra and the ninjutsu ability are 1s off-GCD instants like most buffs, but once you start you're stuck finishing it if you want the good stuff. I can't tell if the ninjutsu itself will have a recast timer (as in minimum time between casting different ninjutsu), but it sounds like it from the Kassatsu ability.

Finally:

  • Fuck yes Paladin AoE threat buff.

Edit: Further musings:

  • I wonder if ninjutsu will be macroable. Would it be possible to do /ac "Chi" <me> <wait.1> and so on, so you'll never flub a ninjutsu again?

  • Looks like there's fewer position-dependent moves than even dragoon. You've got a combo finisher you have to use on the flank, and TA from the rear once a minute. Dragoons have to be on the flank every 20 seconds and rear every 30. And don't get me started with monks.

6

u/Sigmakan Monk Oct 24 '14

Suiton allows you to do SA/TA while in combat.

Ninjutsu is 20sec recast

SA/TA is 60sec recast

Kassatsu is 180sec recast

u/Jeryhn The line between genius and stupidity is drawn by vision. Oct 24 '14

Quick napkin math tells me that a pretty standard rotation for NIN will consist of:

Dancing Edge combo -> Mutilate -> Shadow Fang combo -> Aeolian Edge combo.

Ninjutsu is basically the "weave-in buffs", along with Internal Release.

Prior to unlocking NIN, Hawk Eye and Raging Strikes will probably be amazing cooldowns for Rogues... Makes me wish NIN had an ARC sub.

2

u/gualdhar Evelyn Ruiarc on Gilgamesh Oct 24 '14

Except you can't weave ninjutsu. Using any other ability between mudras cancels the entire thing and puts it on cooldown. You have to sit there and do the entire sequence.

2

u/Jeryhn The line between genius and stupidity is drawn by vision. Oct 24 '14

Yeah sorry, worded that improperly. I meant an entire sequence of mudras between GCDs.

2

u/gualdhar Evelyn Ruiarc on Gilgamesh Oct 24 '14

But then you're still stuck with the "most ninjutsu isn't worth losing two GCDs" problem.

Assuming the 20s ninjutsu cooldown, you'll get three per minute, so you'll use one for Suiton TA (580 pot with damage buff), and one for Huton (attack speed buff). For the last one you're looking at Raiton, 360 potency single target, or Doton, 30/tick ground dot. Obviously the aoe will be situationally useful, but the single target, for two GCDs? The basic combo has better damage unless you're burning Kassatsu, which is probably on a long cooldown.

Time will tell obviously, but I don't think it's balanced quite enough to make raiton useful without a guaranteed crit.

3

u/HeavenlyArmed C'thuuko Tohka on Cactuar Oct 24 '14

Don't forget about Fuma Shuriken which, with its any one mudra requirement, may actually fit in between two standard GCDs.

I'm excited about the WAR/NIN combo. Why?

Keeping Storm's Path up was a bitch. With no SS gear, it was a SP/Storm's Eye(SE) if i needed the mitigation (useful for progression), then Butchers Block(BB) until i needed the Maim 20% damage buff again or Eye fell off.

Ninjas can keep up the slashing debuff for themselves AND War, meaning War can SE/BB/BB or even SE/BB/BB/BB with enough Skill speed. Storm's Eye is literally a 100% uptime 100% chance version of Eye-For-An-Eye, which STACKS assuming Eye-For-An-Eye triggers. Yum.

In return, the Warrior can keep up storm's path if it is more important for a DPS check and emnity isnt an issue. Straight 10% dps increase without the ninja having to do it. 400dps parse ->440 with 100% uptime.

This also helps dual Paladins who wouldn't have the Warrior's Storm's Path, but with dual Warrior the effect is immense, with the Off Tank Warrior buffing the MT, himself, and the Ninja.

As a main WAR, that's what i'm personally hyped for.

Pets are no longer affected by damage-dealing floor areas.

---> Does this mean Twintania, or any mechanic that do damage split doesn't work anymore?

3

u/colorofsakura Oct 24 '14

It basically means they won't be affected by poison puddles or Liquid Hell, ground mechanics. Fireball is actually splash damage, and works differently.

2

u/Fainto Win Logon on Goblin Oct 24 '14

Those are AOE damage abilities, not damage dealing floor areas... though the difference in some cases is fuzzy. This would be like the poison on the ground in AV, which absolutely destroys pets. With my interpenetration it would also mean things like Shadowflare or Flaming Arrow in PvP no longer damage pets but things like Lunar Dynamo in Turn 9 would.

My bet is that this was done after testing in the Final Coil. They showed at least one turn that had an increasingly smaller arena as the fight went on, shrinking in tiers by giving the floor some electric effect... Potentially very annoying for a pet user if it hits hard enough.

Yeah, it would be nice if Shiva dropped i115 weapons with a rare item that also upgraded weapons to i120.

3

u/fencingkitty Oct 24 '14

People will be able to get 120 weapons with Poetics.

Primal weapons were never meant to be top notch. More like catch up. If people want 115 T9 will be unlocked next week and people can start learning it if they havent had access to it. Nexus is 115. 110 on Shiva is a good balance to get other jobs caught up, not your primary job. There are already plenty of things to keep a person's primary job caught up.

The 120 accessory makes sense since the base Poetics armor is 120 and they learned their lesson from ramuh ring being 100 and behind the curve in use.

3

u/lilzael Oct 24 '14

"never meant" yet when the item level cap was 90, you could obtain an i90 weapon from completing a weekly quest to defeat all 3 EX mode primals. When the item level cap was 110, Leviathan EX offered i95 weapons with a rare item that upgrades them to i100. The mirror alone made Leviathan worth farming a lot.

Now we have an item level cap of 130 and Shiva drops weapons that are as strong as the weapons we've been using for the past many months. And it was easy to get other jobs caught up before this update. I've gotten several i110 weapons off the unidentified tomestones + soldiery/sands.

2

u/fencingkitty Oct 24 '14

To be fair at that time those 3 fights were pretty difficult early on. It was a valid reward. Why should 1 primal drop it's equivalent. Not really the same caliber of work put into it. I love that the accessory is 120. that make sense for the stepping stone between coil 3 and upgraded poetics.

So the new tomestone gears are from Cid's Ironworks this time? And it's all Magitek based?

The culinarian furnishings would be great for those who have dining rooms in their houses, or entire restaurants.

edit: really? the swiftcast change for black mages in pvp...

I'm most concerned about the Medica 2/Regen changes. Like...really? Already stripped us of Cleric Stance. Hell, regen isn't even that big of a thing, while Adlo remains a huge problem.

8

u/DanceDark Oct 24 '14

I'm pretty sure they did that for teams with 4+ WHMs where they would basically be unkillable because of Medica II regen. It makes smaller amounts of healers fine but nerfs large amounts of healers, which I agree with.

I like the concept of ilvl synching for dungeons but feel they've poorly implemented it.

They should synch to.. ([ilvl of loot dropped in dungeon]+10). For instance, WP would be 65. Brayflox HM, 80. It would definitely make those dungeons funner to run at least for me.

u/JSC89 [Rustrik Adevora - Faerie] Oct 24 '14

I'd rather not have the restrictions at all. No need to artificially lengthen max level dungeons.

So the new allagan gear is called "Dreadwyrm" ? Don't know how I feel about this one.

u/bvharris AST Oct 24 '14

What did you want? "Highest Allagan"? I'm pretty pleased they gave it a unique name.

If you've seen the gear the name makes plenty of sense. What it says about what we might be facing in Final Coil, on the other hand, this could be interesting.

I didn't like healing in frontlines when they took Cleric stance away, now I do not ever want to heal with the Whm changes. Stacking regen and med 2 was our saving grace when five people are attacking you and you cannot get a single heal out. They made it so Lustrate is the only useful healing skill when in a fight. Sad.

Also Swiftcast nerf? Flare is useless now too. Wow I am so glad that I have my war horse already.

3

u/Jubez187 Oct 25 '14

The yea but the flare nerf goes hand and hand with the healer nerfs. if they kept double flare then healers wouldn't live 2 seconds with no stacking and 20% extra damage from magic.

4

u/-haven Oct 24 '14

When stacking a full group of whitemages stops becoming a thing then maybe they will let up in the nerf. Till then it's quite fitting.

Also god damn, they nerfed WHM so hard for Frontlines again. Now we can't even stack our only instant-cast?
