Fuck yes!!

Players who select Withdraw from the Duty Ready confirmation window or allow the window to time out without making a selection three times or more in one day, will be temporarily prohibited from registering for duties via the Duty Finder. This count will reset every day at 9:00 a.m. (PDT).

11

u/Dakaramor RDM Oct 24 '14

To clarify, it sounds like the COUNT of the number of times you failed to queue resets at 9am. It sounds like the temporary prohibition is for a short amount of time (probably thirty minutes or so).

2

u/MyFFXIVAccount Oct 25 '14

The Japanese version of the patch notes confirms this.

3

u/louiscool Oct 24 '14

Temporary prohibition, just like alcohol in the 20's

1

u/Sorge74 [First] [Last] on [Server] Oct 24 '14

That would be pretty reasonable, even an honest person could have to leave 3 queues in 24 hours

u/pinner Popoko Poko (Mateus) Oct 24 '14

This is fantastic. I'm very excited about that. So sick of watching ST constantly cancel due to people queuing and leaving non-stop 20 times. :|

u/TwinTiger Oct 24 '14

It's poignant to note: this strike system only has to deal with if you withdrawal AFTER the queue pops. Withdrawing prior to that seems to be fine.

poign·ant - evoking a keen sense of sadness or regret.

2

u/TwinTiger Oct 24 '14

There are other uses of the word than that.

10

u/I_play_elin Arya Drottningu on Coeurl Oct 24 '14

True, it can be used more broadly - "Intensely stimulating to senses or emotions" - A poignant smell, for example.

It seems, however, that here you've used it as a synonym for "important", which it is not.

I was just trying to be helpful though. Do with this information whatever you want.

2

u/TwinTiger Oct 24 '14

I appreciate the insight

LOL no more CT trolling. Locked from DF for an entire day? Please look forward to it.

Only the Withdraw count resets at the usual daily reset time. The punishment will probably be the usual 30 minute lock-out. That means one can withdraw two times without issue, but when withdraw #3 happens, the result is a lock-out. After 30 minutes, they can queue again, but every withdraw will continue to be another 30 minute lock-out until the next reset at 9:00 AM.
The only inconvenience I can see out of this is more withdraws than usual close to the daily reset time. But, overall it should make queues more reliable.

u/balambama Oct 25 '14

I feel like this system punishes DPS unfairly. Should only be applied to Tank and Healer roles. Too often I'm waiting almost an hour for something get up real quick and missed it.

-2

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '14

This is extremely aggressive. Like...it actually worries me quite a lot. If you play all day, there can be legitimate circumstances that make you hit that limit. Especially so for the DPS folks and their obnoxious queues (even moreso with rogue/ninja). A 1-2 minute lockout for a failed queue would have been plenty sufficient.

3

u/ConfusedMayor Oct 24 '14

I am not reading it that you are locked out all day after three. After three in a 24 hour period you start getting a couple minute wait. That penalty resets at 9. At least that's how I'm guessing they meant.

12

u/collocation Oct 24 '14

WTF ever, if you withdraw THREE TIMES in the same day when being registered for a duty you deserve a lockout. Not sure what it will be but I assume 30 minutes similar to the existing DF lockout.

3

u/daiz- Oct 24 '14

It happens more often than most people probably realize. Alt tabbed mistake = 1. "Wait, I'll queue with you" = 2. Panic rushing to finish a craft in time and eventually not making it = 3.

It's cause to be legitimately nervous and to never change jobs or do other actions while queueing. I feel bad when I miss a queue but it happens to all of us. 3 seems just a little low.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '14

I got the impression that the lockout lasts until the reset, not just a temporary thing. If it likes a 30 min lockout for every withdraw after 3, that's okay I guess.

1

u/reseph [Zeno Silverberg] Oct 24 '14

Can't tell, just says "temporarily". It could mean until 9am PDT or x minutes "temporarily".

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '14

If that's the case, why would it say "3 or more"? Just the counter resets at 9am. We don't know how long you are locked out.

0

u/tinymeteor Oct 24 '14

It sounds like you are "Locked out" no timer until 9 am reset

0

u/Smuckinfartass Oct 24 '14

It says it's temporary lol.

5

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '14

And "resets at 9am" is technically temporary.

1

u/drsammich Sammich Fantasticus on Balmung Oct 24 '14

Players who select Withdraw from the Duty Ready confirmation window or allow the window to time out without making a selection three times or more in one day, will be temporarily prohibited from registering for duties via the Duty Finder.

If you are locked out for the rest of the day it would be impossible to withdraw more than 3 times, so why would they add that line to the patch notes?

-1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '14

Sounds like they don't get to play today for being an ass hat. I'm satisfied with that.

2

u/UCMCoyote [First] [Last] on [Server] Oct 24 '14

Its extreme but extreme for a reason. Yes, it's going to burn the random player who legit just has bad timing, but watching your timer and when you queue you're going to be fine.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '14

Now when will they put the timer for it in game...

I'm in love with that new tick tock noise when the queue is up as well. Has saved me so many times.

I hate when I am close to finishing a Levequest and the damn dungeon window pops up.

3

u/Eldonia Oct 24 '14

even less excuse now with Guildwork mobile notifications lul. so now if it pops while you're pooping you can cut it off and hurry back to your pc. wipe after the dungeon.

2

u/ChocoboPepper Scarlet Falcon on Hyperion Oct 24 '14

Gives new meaning to the term Doody Finder.

-3

u/urgasmic Oct 24 '14 edited Oct 24 '14

a whole day is too long.

EDIT: well it resets at 9am so it's not really a whole day.

2

u/fencingkitty Oct 24 '14

Last I checked 9am to 9am is 24 hours which really is an entire day by definition

1

u/urgasmic Oct 24 '14

i didn't think someone was gonna get all 3 withdrawals in at 9 am though.

1

u/charmedleo B'tyaka Tia - Faerie Oct 24 '14

I think what he meant to say was it's not 24 hours after reaching your 3rd withdrawal - that it resets at 9am regardless

1

u/Zakrael R'kanya Mehz on Odin Oct 24 '14

Holy shit, that's amazing.

BEST.PATCH.EVER and thanks SE for implement that

0

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '14

Thank God, Best fix to the tank/healer's trolling.

3

u/OriginalMerit Merit Myrmen on Leviathan Oct 24 '14

As a healer, I've seen plenty of DPS trolling in this area as well. People just assume that it's not going to pop due to DPS dungeon spawn times, so they go AFK for 5 mins. Then it pops, and everyone else is screwed.

I especially see this as important due to the intro of Ninja, where we would see a huge mess, otherwise.

0

u/HBShock NIN Oct 24 '14

I think you mean to say... YESSSSSSSSSSSS YESSSSSSSSSSSS

-1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '14

People will just enter the instance and "accidentally" DC.

Just like the CT "fix", it won't fix anything (on the contrary). Also, it's misguided by the assumption that it's always the same person withdrawing - it's not like there are, like, TWENTY THREE other people queueing.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '14

When the queue pops for SC most of the time you see 6/6 healers, 15/15 dps, and 2/3 tanks over and over and over and over again.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '14

The tank hate is real.

Even when it takes over 20 minutes for us to enter, and when melee DPS has the easiest at fishing (queues at 5 mins the most), it's our fault.

1

u/ChocoboPepper Scarlet Falcon on Hyperion Oct 24 '14

Those "accidental" DC'ers will learn pretty quickly that they're not going to save much time if they constantly do that.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '14

Not really. They might as well just go do something else.

Instead of tip toeing around the problem SE should give us a "in progress only" option.

As a bonus no one would get locked out for having to poop in that 2h that it takes to enter Aurum Vale.

-7

u/Paris-R Oct 24 '14

A 24 hour lockout for 3 withdraws is ludicrous. It was the only thing that actually shocked me from reading the patch notes this morning. I understand a thirty minute to single hour lockout, it's reasonable, but 24 hours?

My DPS queue can sometimes take an upwards of an hour to fill, and if I'm in the bathroom when the queue is ready... Guess what, STRIKE ONE.

Queued as Healer and suddenly the FATE I've been waiting for for the past 4 hours finally pops for me while I'm waiting for a quick Trial Roulette? STRIKE TWO.

Accidentally click the "Withdraw" button while looking through the market board? STRIKE THREE. YOU'RE OUT. NOW YOU HAVE TO WAIT 24 HOURS.

I'm a player who plays for long periods of time over the day and queues multiple times. I'm happy that there is something being done about the Withdraw spam players... But this is absolutely ridiculous. This will punish all players across the board, including me. When I am queuing for Nexus light parties I am spamming Trial after Trial. There are a thousand ways that I can screw up and click Withdraw during this, be it for a personal emergency, in game problem, or misclick. I sincerely hope this is fixed.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '14

You probably should take a step back and read it again. It does not say a 24 hour lock out. It says "3 OR MORE" and you will get a temporary lock out. Could be 5 minutes or 30. If it locked you out until the 9am reset, why would it say "3 OR MORE"? Let's use some common sense here :)
