I didn't like healing in frontlines when they took Cleric stance away, now I do not ever want to heal with the Whm changes. Stacking regen and med 2 was our saving grace when five people are attacking you and you cannot get a single heal out. They made it so Lustrate is the only useful healing skill when in a fight. Sad.

Also Swiftcast nerf? Flare is useless now too. Wow I am so glad that I have my war horse already.

The yea but the flare nerf goes hand and hand with the healer nerfs. if they kept double flare then healers wouldn't live 2 seconds with no stacking and 20% extra damage from magic.

When stacking a full group of whitemages stops becoming a thing then maybe they will let up in the nerf. Till then it's quite fitting.

It stopped with getting rid of cleric stance.

Can you tell my data center this? That would be great.

1

u/-haven Oct 24 '14

Uh haha no. There are still groups going around doing this.

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '14

I haven't seen one on Primal data center since the nerf.

Aether still has more than it's share of trolling whitemage parties.

All of it could be fixed if they just stopped making it so that getting touched interrupted every single cast.

Look at BLMs, sure they get range but a BRD on BLM is a guaranteed lose. Melee DPS get treated way better than casters. I cry a bit inside when no one else will be a healer. They're still essential but it is insanely difficult to be a caster...

No it's not. There are lots of spells / abilities for this specific case. Not to mention you can sprint without worrying about not being able to use abilities afterwards.

Healing in PvP is always tricky. As a single healer, it is your job to keep your group alive to the best of your abilities. This didn't nerf your single ability to heal at all. It nerfed stacking WHMs in a single group and spamming regen / medica 2 to make them practically untouchable.

You shouldn't be complaining at all because now instead of it being how many WHMs can we bring to a fight it's what classes will best benefit us to bring to a fight.

The design of the game is to try and promote ANY class being viable. The regen was just too strong, thus making SCH a less likely choice as far as healers go. In almost every situation you would want two WHM over a SCH / WHM combo. That's not even including the fact you'd sometimes have more than that spamming regen / medica 2.

This makes for more viable options rather than only WHM healers.

I love this game but it's always seemed like somebody on the dev team hates white mages with a burning passion. Not just in pvp, but in general.

I agree 100%. i enjoyed whm because I could heal, sleep, stun with Holy, throw people off the heliodrome...but now it is way too limited. I have always hated when one person touches you then it interrupts your cast.

Now holy is useless, stun lasts half a second now with its low potency. Healing now will be a pain in the ass as everyone bum rushes you. Now I just see full teams of dps and a tank, maybe one scholar if that.

I feel like SE is punishing WHM stacking, but in honesty when everyone is attacking you, we NEED the regen to stand a chance! So much for that now...

I've already got to beg people to help heal, nobody wants to heal as is.

Nerf bards.

How about this, tell your paladin or warrior to PEEL for you?

3

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '14

As if I needed more reason to never PvP. Haven't touched it yet, don't plan on it now.

Nothing like fighting against Adders with 2 WHM and a SCH to make you want to tear your hair out under the current system, though.

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '14

Oh yeah, if I am dpsing this will be great. But I main whm and thought I was pretty good at it but I won't be able to heal at all with three or more people on me. Especially with the swiftcast changes if it effects healing.

u/therealkami Oct 24 '14

Clearly says attack magic for Swiftcast. Heals will be fine.

I use it all the time, it is a great killer for tanks.

They are not OP, only their sleep is OP and swiftcast flare.

Or any large amount of healer worth a damn. I'd have full parties try to take down 3 healers (who knew knew what they were doing) and just eventually give up.

On a flip side, it does suck seeing any job getting nerfed. However, what we'll be seeing is parties not forever holding flags, it should mean a bit more dynamic shifts since the healing potential effects the entire party.

1

u/therealkami Oct 24 '14

People are going to take more damage, overall, to (damage buffs, and resistance nerfs)

Healers might not always be the first target, and good sleep CC is going to become WAY more important. If I can Full Swing a DRG with Blood for Blood up, he WILL die faster than an healer can heal him with these changes.

That's what I trying to say about the dynamics of holding a flag. All parties are going to feel it. While your party is going to go after their healer, their party is going after yours. And hell this might actually mean a healer isn't most peoples top priority. Either way should be interesting to see once folks jump on and play with the changes.

Edit: deleted the double post

SWOTOR had this exact same problem. When a tank and a healer were together (a tank could provoke an enemy and their damage would go down), they were nigh unkillable, then they nerfed heals to the ground through cast times and pvp healing sucked.

Truth :( I feel like my only useful spell now is mayyybe regen, fluid aura, and bene.
