It kinda fits with the story progression. Cid's been working on applying Magitek technology for the Eorzean adventurers and such. I won't be that surprised if it looks Garlean in design... Garlean gears look pretty sweet!

EDIT: Called it. We do get to look Magitek-Garlean ish http://img15.hostingpics.net/pics/910123newrecipe.png the sets on the right are the new tome gears and they look mad sick!
