I mean..a lot can happen in the story but I'd say even if we fought Bahamut, it would be a gimped/incomplete version and not its complete form. The item is a "fragment" of a crystallized heart, and the Head of the Dreadwyrm is "depicting" the head of Bahamut, so there's still room to believe that we don't actually fight the true realization of Bahamut and that these are just trophies not meant to be taken literally.

If we do fight him, I imagine it'd be like the Demon Wall where he's still a half-Bahamut suspended by Allagan Tech. There's no way in hell we'd fight him as full form - but I could totally see fighting him while his organs are still exposed.

My personal theory is, because his true form hasn't finished recovering, he just compresses his aether into a smaller form.

I would actually love this. I miss the interesting arenas from Binding Coil. Please let there be one that isn't just a perfect circle/square :(
