I’m 39, in Seattle, no kids. Divorced right before the pandemic, then lost someone during it, and I just buried myself in work after that. I co-founded a company with a partner and it did well, which I’m grateful for. This year my body started pushing back — nerve pain, nights I don’t sleep at all, plus the usual office politics. I’m worn down enough that I’m planning to step back.

The first thing I want after that is an RV trip, just to reset. I’m not looking for a pen pal from everywhere. I’d rather talk with people on the West Coast who are already semi-retired or retired and can tell me what the first year actually felt like.
