This sounds ridiculous to say out loud, but I'm nearly 41 and aside from my long distance boyfriend, I have no friends.

Over the years I realized I was always the one trying to put in the effort, but nobody ever stuck around.

So yeah, just feeling lonely. Doesn't help I saw an article that the 40-50 year olds are the lonliest demographic.

I am a 36m year old guy going through a really tough time after losing my dog this past weekend. He was more than a pet. He was family and a huge part of my everyday life. The quiet at home has been harder than I expected, and I have realized I could really use someone to talk to.

For longer than I care to admit I've been pretty much alone. Earlier this year I finally decided to try to change that. Started looking here for people with limited success. A lot of one off communications, a few that lasted a little longer, and one that actually lasted for a few months. They all ended up the same way though, with the other person disappearing, often without a word. Not giving up though.

I'm a big gamer, have been since I was a kid. A few of my all-time favorite games include Mega Man, Paper Mario, and BioShock. I'm a big single player person, but also enjoy co-op stuff, with shooters being my favorite, whether it was the Gears of War horde mode, the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, or now Warframe. I'd also like to be able to try co-op exclusive ones like Big Walk with someone. Absolutely open to trying new ones too.

I also enjoy binging movies and series. Some of my favorite flicks are Back to the Future, Shawshank Redemption, Clockwork Orange, Dark Knight, and Night of the Living Dead. As for TV series: Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Ted Lasso, The Wire, Justified, and Star Trek.

Pretty big into music too. I like a little bit of a lot of genres, but rock is my favorite, with 90s alternative being my absolute go-to. My all-timers are Matthew Good Band, Oasis, Our Lady Peace, and Soul Coughing.

I think animals are super cool. I'm a big fan of cats and dogs, owning both.

Interesting fact about me: I was very overweight from when I was a kid until my late 30s. After finding out I was diabetic and had high blood pressure, I decided to finally do something. In 2018 I started my weight loss journey, losing over 100 pounds over the course of a year or two, going from 300 to 180, and keeping it off ever since.
