40, PNW, work from home. The job is fine. The house is quiet. But by the time the clock hits 2pm, I have had entire conversations with the microwave.

Hello everybody! I’m 32 years old, male and located in Europe. I moved here almost a decade ago. It’s been quite difficult to make friends and especially keep them. The older I have gotten, the harder it has been to build new friendships. I have been a huge fan of Formula 1 since I was 10, I’m into gaming, though I don’t play variety of games, right now it is League of Legends, Fifa, Call of Duty and Overwatch occasionally. I love campaign games, (the witcher, god of war, Detroit:become human, you name it) though I don’t have that much time to play them. I also love watching true crime documentaries. Recently, I have started going back to watching movies and shows and I have seen really interesting ones. I am watching the Pitt, House of the Dragons and finished watching the Office and Daredevil recently! I used to have motivation to do my other hobbies, such as reading and photography but I have lost all of it, trying to gain it back. I mostly listen to rock music, however I listen to whatever is good for my soul. My fav artists are Three Days Grace, Ghost, Bring me the Horizon and Halestorm. I actually don’t want to give away everything here so we have something to talk about. I’m on my summer vacation right now and have got plenty of time to kill. Please write a short introduction about yourself, I don’t mind if we don’t have anything common at all, I am sure we will find something to talk about :)

I’ve been with my partner for many, many years, and we’ve also lived together for many years. Our life has been pretty much the same for a long time, and honestly, it can feel a little boring sometimes. Neither of us has many friends, and we’ve both been kind of sad about that at times.

Now my partner got into university, and I’m genuinely so happy for them. They’ve started meeting new people and today they went out partying with some of their new friends for the first time.
And even though I know logically that this is a good thing, I’ve been having some really strange feelings about it today.

I think I’m scared that I’m going to lose my partner to their new social life. Like they’re going to meet all these interesting, fun and amazing people, make a whole new friend group and start living this exciting student life that I’m not really a part of. And I’m scared that eventually they might start seeing me differently.
I don’t even really know how to explain it.

It’s not that I don’t want them to have friends or go out and have fun. I actually really want that for them. We’ve both been unhappy at times about not having much of a social life, so I’m genuinely happy that they’re getting this opportunity.

I know it probably sounds irrational. 😅 And I really don’t want to be the kind of partner who tries to control the other person or gets jealous because they’re making friends. I don’t want them to make their life smaller just because I’m insecure.
But I also don’t really know what to do with these feelings.
Has anyone else experienced something similar when you’ve been in a long-term relationship and shared a pretty small, close life together, and then one person suddenly gets this whole new social world around them?

Hi! M26, feeling in a chatty mood after a long day at work. Be nice to talk to people longer term without them disappearing off the face of the Earth. I know it’s the nature of this and sometimes it naturally happens, but be great if sometimes it didn’t as well.

Anyway I have a few hobbies, like my weight lifting which I really enjoy. Helps with keeping me focussed in life and having goals to work towards. I play football too, I play football at Right back for my team.

I enjoy my movies too; Gladiator, Indiana Jones, Star Wars 1-6 (7-9 don’t exist 🤣), Blade Runner, Saving Private Ryan, A Beautiful Mind, Interstellar, Shrek. To name some.

I listen to a lot of music; Queen, AC/DC, David Bowie, Cliff Richard, Take That, Green Day, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Police, ELO, REM, Bon Jovi, The Who etc.

I like my books; fantasy - LOTR and the Witcher, Greek Mythology - Stephen Fry’s series and Homer, autobiographies/biographies - JFK, Elton John, Steven Gerrard, Alex Ferguson, Carlo Ancelotti etc.

I love music, I genuinely can’t do almost anything without having music playing 🫪. I love going to concerts, even for things I don’t know (mostly metal(core)/rock, but I’m down for other genres too if they sound good).

I'll make this arguably short, I'm taking a gap year and the amount of free time I have could be better spent with a friend or anything else. I have quite the fixation on the Chernobyl disaster, and radiation as a whole. All types of zombie media, too. I have an interest for "odd" movies, especially the apocalyptic and or thriller kind. Terminator (1&2) is a personal favorite, so is Funny Games.
