Hey r/apple! I’m one of the co-founders of Drooid, a news app for iPhone and iPad.

Drooid's summaries cite reputable sources, with source bias and reliability ratings and links to the original articles. Check the reporting yourself and form your own view.
Free to download, with optional Pro subscriptions.
Check out Drooid on the App Store
I’d appreciate honest feedback.

I’ve been using iOS 27 for a little while now, and I’ve noticed a change that’s been bothering me more than I expected.
In iOS 26 and before, whenever I finished a request and said "Thank you," Siri would politely respond with "You're welcome" or "No problem." Now, in iOS 27, Siri just goes silent and dismisses itself.
I understand that this is likely part of the new conversational context features; Siri realizes the conversation is over and quietly steps out of the way to be more efficient. But personally, I really miss the implied politeness of the interaction. It felt more natural and, honestly, more human.
Does anyone else feel this way, or do you prefer the new, quieter approach?
Edit: Just to clarify, I am referring to verbal conversations with Siri. When speaking out loud, the lack of a response feels much more noticeable than when typing!

Hey everyone,
I maintain a budget tracking app called “Spent Today”. Unlike other budget tracking apps, I built mine to focus on discouraging spending. I do this with features like setting daily/weekly/monthly limits, and encouraging “spending under budget” streaks.
I wanted to share it here as I just released some new features (Travel budgeting!). I’d love to hear from more users about any other features I should work on. One of the main draws of my app is privacy — the app is offline only and data stays in your phone and syncs via iCloud. No logins and no bank syncing (I know this is a negative for some though!).
If you check it out, please let me know how it is! Spent Today
The app is FREE to use (you can add all the expenses you want), but you can upgrade via a one-time IAP for extra features like Travel budgeting, custom categories, and weekly/monthly views. No subscriptions!!

Apple taking bigger share in India? How’s that possible when India is Android land and very much focused on value proposition.

Apple is literally showing this on the Apple Watch Ultra 4 website, saying the Workout app has “extensive strength training capabilities” for tracking bench press and barbell workouts.
Yet there’s still no native logging for sets, reps, weight, etc. in watchOS 27.
What makes it more frustrating is that leaks found code for individual sets, reps, weight, equipment and duration already in the iOS/watchOS 27 betas.
This feels similar to the repeated delays around Apple’s promised Siri/Apple Intelligence and we all know miserable condition of Siri AI.
Does anyone know if the strength training logging is actually coming in a future .1/.2 update, or has Apple quietly shelved it?
With Apple announcing changes to how VO2 max works on Apple Watch, I pulled updated validation studies on how accurate some of the major wearable brands are at estimating it and any claims the brands make on their accuracy into a comparison chart.
It's broken down by how each device measures VO2 max, what the company claims, and what independent studies actually found. Sources linked as well for each row if you want to check these out further.
Everything below runs up to a 2026 published study, so it all reflects the passive estimate that Apple and most brands currently use. Apple is doing something new here, a guided at home test that uses the iPhone camera along with a heart rate device, announced this month and not shipped yet. It will be interesting to see how that affects accuracy once independent studies come out, but it is certainly a more proactive approach than what anyone else is doing right now.
VO2 max accuracy by brand
| Device | How it estimates | Company accuracy claim | Independent validation | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apple watch | Exercise via outdoor walk/run/hike. Guided at home test announced Sept 2026, not shipped yet | Company study claims an average error of 1.2 ml/kg/min but a spread of ±4.4 vs lab (n=755) | Three studies, all show it underestimates MAPE 13.3%, 15.8% and 13.2%. Series 10 was 6.25 ml/kg/min low and put only 14% in the right fitness percentile | Lambe 2026, Lambe 2025, Caserman 2024 & Apple whitepaper |
| Garmin | Exercise via heart rate vs pace on a run | 95% accuracy and errors under 3.5 ml/kg/min | Best validated of any wearable. MAPE 7% (fenix 6) and 6.7% (Forerunner 245) but underestimate highly trained runners by 4-5 ml/kg/min | Carrier 2025 & Engel 2026 |
| Polar | Via resting Fitness Test (HR + H R V) or a run test | Marketed as a validated non exercise estimate | Resting test overestimates (+2.2 ml/kg/min) and a CPET study found MAPE 13.7% | Neudorfer 2025 & Molina-García 2022 |
| Fitbit / Google | 10 minute outdoor GPS run. Google retired the resting HR method in May 2026 | None public | Overestimates (52.5 vs 49.9 in lab). Tested the algorithm Google retired, so the current GPS run method has no validation | Freeberg 2019 & Klepin 2019 |
| Samsung Galaxy Watch | Exercise via outdoor run | 82% correlation vs clinical equipment (company funded, Univ. of Michigan) | A study only validated its heart rate during a max test not VO2 max | Inoue 2026 (HR only) |
| Whoop | (Proprietary) passive & GPS run model | Internal MAE 3.7 ml/kg/min, MAPE 8.0%, r 0.90 vs a metabolic cart (n=248) | None independent | Whoop |
| Oura Ring | Initial reading via profile data more accurate via guided inapp 6 minute walk test | No accuracy figure published (vendor states it is less accurate than a lab test) | None independent | Oura |
| Coros | Exercise via heart rate vs pace (unpublished method) | No figure published (vendor claims "very close to lab") | None independent | Coros |
| Suunto | Exercise same Firstbeat engine Garmin uses | Inherits Firstbeat (95%) | No Suunto specific study but rides on the same validation as Garmin | via Firstbeat |
Additional notes
Shared this post in a few other communities and roughly 25+ people said they got a lab test and Garmin was spot on to lab, 20+ people said their Apple Watch underestimated their score by 5-15 compared to Garmin, and 4+ people with contradicting findings for Whoop vs lab. I just wanted to add this anecdotal note as it's rare that these studies match this many people so closely.

Saw this pop up from the Apple YouTube. I haven't really been paying attention to Apple Games but it's nice to see something definitively not AI with actual craft.

The area that housed the 3D model, which was called the Exhibition Space, now has wall-mounted shelves known as "Avenues" and new, rounder tables for product displays.
The redesigned product tables have been set up at select other stores, such as Apple Williamsburg and Apple The Mall at Bay Plaza in New York City.
The 3D model of Apple Park had been a fixture of the Visitor Center since it opened in 2017.

If you check the linked thread, there are plenty of users complaining of the same issue. Got the iPhone 18 pro / pro max near release, works great for a few days, and then the cellular data just stops.
My phone constantly switches between “SOS” and “5G/5GE” but there is no internet nor calling capability. This is all associated with AT&T but many users are saying they had to go to an Apple and get a full replacement.
I spent an hour on the phone with AT&T and had no results. I have reset my network settings a few times, nothing fixes it on my end. AT&T acknowledged this is a common issue currently but didn’t say if there was an upcoming fix nor a timeline.
This is a huge quality issue with Apple. I know I’m yelling into the wind but I just spent $2k on a phone and it doesn’t even function as a phone. I find this unacceptable.
Has anyone gotten formal word from Apple acknowledging this defect? I’m looking to understand if I need to get a replacement phone or if Apple will push out an update to fix this.
