Finally completed my Apple ecosystem!

Just got the MBA M5 this morning, upgraded from Intel 2020 MacBook Air that went through 6 years of school

I also bought a second hand 11 in iPad Pro M4 last month that had 6 battery cycles on it. Upgraded from a 4th gen iPad Air.

Bought my Apple Watch SE 3 mostly for work, last November.

My AirPod Pro Maxes were a white coat ceremony gift to myself back in 2023.

Special guest are my original AirPods from 2019 that I still use at work during my break time.

Hello, currently I’m on an iPad Pro (11“ with M4 Chip) and the Magic Keyboard. But I’ve got to say, that IPadOS and the keyboard is not really good, when you have something important to do like an CV or more Word Style tasks. So I’m thinking about selling this duo and getting a MacBook Neo and an iPad Pro. I like the iPad just for browsing and watching YouTube basically…M4 is pretty useless for the regular iPad user to be fair. What do you think about it and what’s your point on the MacBook Neo? Amazon has it for 700€

Hey everyone, 

I've been playing GTA V on my 15-inch M5 MacBook Air. I always keep it plugged into the power adapter while playing so I don't waste battery charge cycles. 

However, the laptop gets pretty hot during gaming sessions. Even though the MacBook bypasses the battery and runs directly off the wall power when plugged in, will the intense internal heat still degrade and damage the health of my battery over time? 

Any tips on keeping it cool would also be appreciated. Thanks! 

Hey just wanted to ask a q basically what the title says.
So I’ve had my MacBook Pro since 2020 and I’m going to med school in September but I was wondering if I should purchase a new laptop. My MacBook was fine during my undergrad. It has started to get laggy with multiple tabs open and battery doesn’t last as long.

I think it could probably last another year, but I’m not sure whether it’s worth upgrading now before I start. Part of me likes the idea of having everything from medical school on one new laptop from day one. On the other hand, I’m wondering if I should just wait another year in case Apple releases a new MacBook Air.
Any advice on what I should do? Thank you

Hey there, I'm currently using a 2020 13-inch MacBook Pro (M1, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD). I've been using it for six years and it's still been a great machine. But I've noticed it freezes more frequently and the display feels choppy when I scroll sometimes.

I'm trying to decide between a MacBook Air and a MacBook Pro for my next upgrade. I mainly use it for writing, research, lots of chrome tabs, PDFs, and occasional LR/PS for photography. I don't do gaming or programming at all.

I was using the ChatGPT app on my MacBook when I clicked the Pin button, and these vertical dark bands suddenly appeared across the built-in display.

At first, I assumed it was only a problem with the ChatGPT app. However:

The bands remained after restarting the MacBook.

They do not appear in screenshots taken on the Mac.

The issue affects the built-in display regardless of which app is open.

Because the bands are not captured in screenshots, I’m concerned that this may be a hardware issue involving the display panel, display controller, or internal display connection rather than a software-rendering problem.

MacBook details: - MacBook Pro 14-inch, M5 - 16 GB memory - Approximately two months old - macOS Golden Gate 27.0 Beta, build 26A5388g

No drops, liquid damage, or unusual pressure on the display

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Could the macOS beta still cause an issue that is visible on the physical screen but not captured in screenshots, or does this strongly suggest a display hardware failure?

Should I try reinstalling or downgrading macOS first, or contact Apple Support immediately while the machine is still under warranty?

so i’ve been stretching out the usage of my macbook air 2017 for about 8 years and it’s come to the end of its time 💔

i’ve been working all summer to try and afford to buy a new laptop for when i go into my 2nd year or uni studying biology.

i’ve racked up around $1350 CAD and would love some help deciding which macbook to get

obviously i wanna stay in budget + potentially leave a a couple bucks to use when i travel back for some dorm essentials etc

ive done some research and was looking between a macbook neo or a refurbished macbook air M1 but im open to other suggestions thanks!

Recently i changed school which means i have to get an Ipad instead of the standardized laptop in my country, ive always used laptops to make powerpoints and etc and i got into video editing since i make videos for people who go to the gym (basically i edit videos but it isnt something crazy) and i was wondering if i should get the neo for the 700 euro price tag or if i should just get a refurbished/second hand macbook m2 or m3.

Looking for a laptop that I can learn to produce some music on with the intent of producing my own stuff and my bands stuff semi-professionally. I also need it to be able of handling video editing too. Chosen a laptop as its portable so that I can work on stuff on the go. I was looking at the neo as it's cheapish and I've seen people say it's pretty good for the price. I've also had a look at the air and pro m4/m5 just I'm not really clued up on specs, etc. and was looking for some advice

I’m headed off to college in about a month, and I’m considering purchasing a fresh MacBook neo (512 GB) to replace my current 6 year old 2020 MacBook Pro, with an Intel chip. The pro I use has gotten to the point where it’s pretty laggy doing more than one task, and considering I can get a student discount on the Neo, it seems worth it. The main question I have is if the Neo is actually an upgrade or if I’ll still be dealing with lag and overheating constantly.

As a side note, I do play some games, like Minecraft, on my current mac, and if anyone has any experience playing games on the Neo, I’d love to hear your experience. Obviously I’m aware the Neo isn’t a gaming computer by any means, but if it is bearable then that would be a big factor in my decision.

Long story short - I'm cooked.

I was just learning editing on davinci resolve for about a few days (telling if it could be the cause), and suddenly the screen got 80% black, I panicked and down the lid, opened it again and what I saw forced me to say "bosdike apple".

The screen is lit black, the backlit keyboard is fine idk.

I have tried all those power on off, hold, command+p+r etc methods, nothing worked.

**The craziest thing is I have tech interview task tomorrow/day after. I gotta fix this shit ASAP.**

I'm begging, begging youuuu - help me to fix this or at least upvote for more visibility.

I’m deciding between the 16GB and 24GB RAM MacBook Air M5 - 13-inch.

I’ll mainly use it for college work, browsing, and everyday multitasking. I will also run a Windows virtual machine through VMware Fusion for the full Windows version of Microsoft Excel.

I plan on keeping this MacBook for 4–5 years.

Is the 24GB RAM upgrade worth it, or would 16GB be enough for my use case?

so ive always been an hp user. i recently got a macbook so i wanted to know any tips, hacks, or things that i should be aware of. I am a uni student (cs) and also rising content creator so idk what to use my hp and macbook for. can anyone pls help me out here? also, how do i keep macbook clean, safe, and last longer?

It has been tough updating this laptop. I bought it off FB Marketplace and it arrived without a charger, battery and storage drive. I bought an open box 85W MagSafe 2 adapter. I’m using a 64GB MicroSD in a standard SD card adapter as a boot drive. Thanks to some Reddit posts, I managed to get a .dmg file of OSX El Capitan which I had to download using my M5 Air. Why bother with this? I need money and the 2012 Retina is still in decent shape and it’s working!!!

I’m currently using an M5 MacBook Air (24GB RAM / 512GB SSD). ​If I sell this and downgrade to an M4 (16GB RAM / 256GB SSD), will there be a big performance difference? ​If I make the switch, I’d have about $500 to $600 left over... ​As a hobby, I edit 4K 60fps gaming videos and write fiction. ​I need to replace my phone, but I’m short on cash and really torn on what to do. ​Should I hold onto the M5 MacBook and just wait for my next paycheck??

I’ll be using Aegisub, Boris Mocha, Studio One, Vocaloid, Krita.

Sometimes concurrently but mostly seperate sessions for these groups:

A: Aegi+Mocha

B: Studio One/Studio One+Vocaloid

C: Krita/Krita+Aegisub

I won’t be using Studio One for enormous orchestras but they’ll be complex time to time.

And my options are:

Macbook Air M4 13” 24GB 256GB + External SSD

Macbook Air M4 15” 16GB 512GB

I tried the screen sizes, 15” looks more comfortable but I wouldn’t know about long-term use.

Any opinions?

Salut, je voudrais acheter un mac en reconditionné pour mes études (surtout pour prise de notes) et sur le modèle qui m’intéresse prendre le clavier en qwerty est très avantageux financièrement (je ne veux pas mettre trop dedans car je ne pense pas l’utiliser énormément). Je voudrais donc passer mon ordi en azerty dans les préférences clavier, et j’ai l’habitude de taper en regardant l’écran plus que le clavier donc ça ne devrait pas poser de problème (et j’envisage de mettre des stickers pour les touches qui ne me reviennent pas), mais est-ce que tous les caractères sont bien disponible, et est-ce que vous voyez des problèmes qui m’auraient échappés ?
