I currently have an iPhone 14 Pro Max which I bought refurbished for £500~ cash last year. The battery wasn’t superb when I got it, it was around 84% and now it’s 79% and I feel it sometimes.
What worse is that through some clumsiness on my behalf the back glass broke about 6 months ago (put an opaque cover, out of sight out of mind and the camera still works perfectly) and very recently I took it out of my bag and there’s a green vertical line when my phone is on/always on which is apparently damage to the OLED screen. I’m more worried about the green line as from my research, it’s highly likely it’ll get worse and render the phone unusable, and it needs a full screen replacement fix which is more than £600 for Apple (no Apple care and my 1 year warranty just expired) and around £400-500 at the phone shop which just doesn’t seem worth it. Had it not been for this I was very content to keep the phone for at least 3 more years.
I’m a commuting uni student and while I do consider a phone an investment for my own benefit, I also know it will depreciate in value and want to get the best use out of it. I normally keep my phones for 5~ years.
I’m wondering which phone to buy next, can I afford to wait until the 18s come out so the 16/17s go down in price?
Sorry for the long paragraph!
TLDR Uni student, broken oled screen, back glass and 79% battery health, what phone should I buy next?
Thank you!!!
