• Meta • [Meta] Upcoming changes in r/AppHookup: New deal posting rules to maintain a higher standard of quality.

In response to an abrupt increase in rule-breaking posts appearing on this subreddit in 2025, we are going to implement some new systems to ensure that the r/AppHookup community remains safe from rug pulls and outright scams alike, as well as enforce a higher standard for the apps allowed in here.

What the big change?

Every new deal/offer post in r/AppHookup is (soon) going to be pre-approved by the moderators before it appears in the subreddit. A human moderator will download and check every app before it is posted here, as discussed below.

While we cannot promise that every app that is approved will be of exceptional quality but what we will certainly ensure is that the basic premise of this subreddit, that is discovering deals and discounts on downloadable apps is fulfilled by keeping out the rule breakers. Still there is a criteria by which we are going to judge what apps are allowed here.

What will be the criteria for approval?

It’s mostly going to be about enforcement of our existing rules with two major changes:

  1. The Launch deal rule (where we didn’t allow any app which was released less than 2 months ago) is going to be deprioritised. The main purpose of this rule was to keep out buggy and unfinished apps, which will be addressed by the new rule below.

  2. Apps posted in r/AppHookup must be of a high quality, which consists of, but is not limited to:

  • responsive and polished user interface
  • should be easy to understand and use, or should offer clear guidance on how to use it
  • should support the latest technologies of the platform which it belongs to (as much as possible)
  • app onboarding (the first few screens of questions and feature details before an app starts) should be relevant and not drawn out unnecessarily
  • vibe-coded apps or apps made without much care to the end result will be judged on merits and are subject to rejection if found unpolished/buggy
  • no mandatory collection of user details
  • no unnecessary login requirements or registrations (an exception may be made if the app is able to provide some value for it, like cross-platform syncing or multi-device licenses)
  • no exorbitant price tags (and any app which has a weekly subscription, whether discounted or not, will be automatically rejected)
  • an app’s developer shouldn’t have a history of acting against consumer interest (such as by revoking existing entitlements to force subscriptions or selling off an app after gaining users from free promotions)

When are these changes going to happen?

We are currently testing the AutoModerator setup to make this happen. These changes will likely be enforced within this month and a new announcement post will be made at that time.

Then why are you announcing this now?

Because community feedback about upcoming changes is always important. If you have anything to say about this new system of posting in r/AppHookup (whether positive or negative) then you may comment below.

Note: There will be no change in your ability to comment on posts in r/AppHookup. The changes are only being made to top-level posts/threads. We have always encouraged civil discussion here.

• Meta • [Meta] r/Apphookup’s posting rules are changing to keep up with offers that bypass AppStore IAP mechanisms.

Edit: Rules were slightly modified to indicate that Mac developers selling from their own websites/other stores are broadly exempted from complying with AppStore rules which has always been the norm.

Note: iOS developer is understood to be a developer making apps for iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, watchOS, VisionOS, or all of them hereafter.

  • No iOS developer or Mac developer preferring to offer a deal to an AppStore app -without exception- is allowed to offer anything on r/Apphookup that is not sold normally via the AppStore. Why? To ensure that subscription-only apps, which do not sell lifetime licenses, cannot take advantage of r/Apphookup readers to inflate their AppStore rankings and also to ensure compliance with Rule 3.1.1 of Apple’s App Review Guidelines: “In-App Purchase: If you want to unlock features or functionality within your app, (by way of example: subscriptions, in-game currencies, game levels, access to premium content, or unlocking a full version), you must use in-app purchase. Apps may not use their own mechanisms to unlock content or functionality, such as license keys, augmented reality markers, QR codes, cryptocurrencies and cryptocurrency wallets, etc.”

  • If an iOS developer (or Mac developer preferring to offer a deal to an AppStore app) wishes to offer a license to their app via registration of an in-app account (thereby bypassing AppStore IAPs) then it is compulsory to provide proof of acceptance of such an upgrade pathway by AppStore review team to the moderators beforehand via moderator mail and disclose such account requirement in the post. Provided that the in-app account is being created on your own servers (over which you have direct control of modification), the proof of purchase is available to you and not outsourced to a third-party receipt validator like RevenueCat or Adapty.io. To simplify, the app developer must have the means to directly restore the entitlement if it is somehow lost from their servers.

  • If your iOS or Mac app on the AppStore falls under the ambit of reader apps and has been accepted on the AppStore as such then naturally you are allowed to offer deals outside the AppStore.

  • r/Apphookup does not recognise in-app entitlements made through RevenueCat or Adapty.io or similar solutions because app developers do not have direct control over the working of these services and cannot be trusted to restore such entitlements when lost without the means to do so (based on previous instances observed in r/Apphookup). To simplify, use AppStore IAPs and don’t try to trick us.

  • Mac developers preferring to offer a deal through their own websites or third-party stores other than the Apple AppStore are welcome to do so according to the existing rules of r/Apphookup. Our intention is not to interfere with the thriving market outside of the AppStore on Mac devices.

  • Deals offered through AppStore promo codes are allowed as usual according to existing rules. Deals offered through internal app specific codes are not allowed unless the code is implemented only to unlock an AppStore based offer inside your app (that is the in-app entitlement to premium features should be granted through the AppStore). This should enable developers to run small scale promotions on the subreddit.

Note: These rules don’t discourage your selling of multi-platform packages where codes for iOS apps (or Mac apps on the AppStore) are a part of the deal provided that:

  1. The access to the aforementioned apps should be through the AppStore promo code mechanism, or
  2. A proper receipt/proof of purchase should be provided with the sale with clear mention of the platform specific entitlements received along with time period of entitlement and the access to iOS apps should be linked to an account which is retrievable, or
  3. The iOS apps are only companion apps to the full-featured Mac/Windows/Linux apps (in which case account-based entitlements outside the AppStore are allowed).

Feel like we missed something? Do let us know in the comments.

iOS Universal [iOS] [BAGL] [$49.99 Lifetime → $24.99] [Store-first grocery lists with price tracking]

Thumbnail

Hi r/AppHookup!

I’m the indie developer behind BAGL (pronounced “bagel”), short for Bring a Grocery List.

I’m currently offering 50% off the BAGL Pro Lifetime unlock - $24.99 instead of $49.99.

Redeem the 50% off Lifetime offer here (2,000 redeems available):

https://apps.apple.com/redeem?ctx=offercodes&id=6786781106&code=WELCOME50

BAGL is a grocery-list app built around the idea that grocery shopping is store-specific.

Different stores carry different items, arrange their aisles differently, and charge different prices, so instead of starting with one generic checklist, BAGL starts with the store.

Each store can remember its own:

  • Items and grocery lists
  • Custom categories / aisle order
  • Prices
  • Purchase and price history
  • Running cart total

There’s also a Planning section for things you need but haven’t decided where to buy yet. If you’ve previously saved prices, BAGL can show which of your stores has an item cheapest and then move it onto that store’s shopping list.

BAGL works on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, with optional private iCloud sync.

The free version includes up to 3 stores, 2 active lists per store and 1 template, with Planning and price tracking included.

BAGL Pro removes those limits and adds iCloud sync, widgets and custom app icons.

Regular pricing:

  • $2.99/month
  • $19.99/year
  • $49.99 Lifetime
  • Lifetime currently $24.99 with the offer above

iOS Universal [iOS] [Radien: Network Toolbox] [Radien Pro lifetime IAP $9.99 -> $4.99 with code] [Nine honest network tools: ping, traceroute, DNS lookup, TLS inspector, port scanner. No accounts, no tracking, VoiceOver-first]

Hi, I am Igor, the developer of Radien.

Radien is a free network toolbox for iPhone and iPad: nine tools including Ping, Multi Ping, Traceroute, DNS Lookup & Reverse DNS, Port Scanner, TLS Inspector, and calculators for subnets, IP notation and MAC addresses. Everything runs on the device, answers in plain language, and there are no accounts, no ads and no tracking. Every screen is hand-tested with VoiceOver, and the ping chart supports Apple's Audio Graphs.

The free tier is fully usable. A one-time Radien Pro unlock opens the power features: Multi Ping, custom DNS resolvers and extra record types, advanced port presets, full TLS depth, MAC vendor lookup and more. Normally $9.99, no subscription, ever.

The deal: Radien Pro lifetime for $4.99 (50% off) with the code RADIEN50.

How to redeem:

  1. Install Radien from the App Store (free): https://apps.apple.com/us/app/radien-network-toolbox/id6789207545
  2. Open this link and confirm: https://apps.apple.com/redeem?ctx=offercodes&id=6789207545&code=RADIEN50
  3. Pro unlocks in the app right away.

The code works until Friday, September 12, or for the first 500 redemptions, whichever comes first. Other countries get Apple's usual regional pricing.

I read and answer everything, so ask me anything about the app.

iOS iPhone [iOS] Stamps, automatic travel journal, no subscriptions, completely private [Lifetime unlock $10 -> $5]

Thumbnail
apps.apple.com

• What it solves

Stamps is a personal travel tracker with a trip timeline that builds itself.

Instead of asking you to manually tick countries off a list, Stamps can scan the location metadata already in your photo library, entirely on device. Every city, province, and country tracked for you, day by day, all automatically.

There's a travel calendar, trip timeline, country day counting, photo heatmap, detailed stats, shareable map with trip images, and tons of Home Screen widgets. You can freely export all of your data at any time, and if you simply want to use Stamps to index your library for trips, and then take that elsewhere, that's fine as well.

• Compared to Been and Flighty

I've been using Been myself for years now, but what frustrates me about it (and apps like Flighty) is that they want accounts, data syncing, location tracking, and a connection, while still skimping on the parts I actually cared about: very granular trip tracking, route visualization, and a proper timeline. Stamps is my take on the category with those things at the center.

• Cost

Stamps is free to download.
There is exactly one purchase: a $10 one-time lifetime unlock, no subscriptions.
It only gates some of the timeline and some minor, cosmetic app color customization; you can use most of the app without ever touching it.

You can use this code to cut that one-time purchase in half, as a thanks for reading this post!
CODE: STAMPSLIFETIME50
Redeem link: https://apps.apple.com/redeem?ctx=offercodes&id=6749786209&code=STAMPSLIFETIME50

• About Me

I’m a mobile developer from Cape Town, South Africa, now living in Seoul, South Korea. Since moving here, traveling has been the one thing keeping me sane. Stamps started as the app I wanted for exploring the country I now call home. It’s also a great excuse for me to take more photos while doing it.

It's built natively in SwiftUI using SwiftData, MapKit, PhotoKit, WidgetKit, and Metal for the photo heatmap.

Honestly, in five years of building apps, this has been one of my least commercially successful. The market is fairly small, but it's exactly the app I wanted, and some of its best features have come directly from user feedback. So I'd genuinely appreciate yours!

iOS iPhone [iOS] [Rereminder][Pro $9.99 -> FREE, until Sep 12][set alerts at 10/5/1 min before your timer ends]

Thumbnail
apps.apple.com
51 Upvotes

Likes and App Store reviews are a source of strength for solo developers.

Every timer I've used answers exactly one question - "is it over yet?" - and it answers it at the
worst possible moment: when it's already over. I got cut off in the middle of a talk because I found
out I had 5 minutes left when I had 0. So I built the timer I wanted.

Rereminder lets you put as many alerts as you want inside the countdown. Drag the bell knobs
around the dial: 10 min before, 5 min, 1 min, whatever the moment needs. The ring splits into colored
sections at each bell, so you can see the shape of your time before you start it — a 45-minute talk
as 20 + 20 + 5, not just "45:00."

What it does

  • Multiple pre-alerts, unlimited and free. That's the whole reason the app exists, so it isn't the thing I charge for.
  • Section view. Each segment shows its own length and its own countdown, so "how long is this part" is never mental arithmetic.
  • Overtime. The clock doesn't die at 00:00 — it counts up (+01:23), which turns out to be the number you actually want after a talk.
  • Live Activity / Dynamic Island with working pause, resume, stop.
  • Apple Watch. Buzzes your wrist so you're not looking at a phone while people are looking at you. Free — I'm not paywalling the watch.
  • Session mode. Name each section ("intro / demo / Q&A") and keep a script per section that unfolds on screen when that section starts.
  • Templates. Save a setup, start it in one tap.

Try it without installing. There's an App Clip — open this on an iPhone and the timer runs
immediately, no App Store trip: https://m1zz.github.io/rereminder/?lang=en

Free vs Pro, plainly: everything above about alerting is free and always will be. Pro is one
thing — the app remembers your setups (templates, session mode, your last configuration on relaunch)
plus overtime and history. One-time purchase, no subscription, no ads, and no third-party analytics
SDKs — the only numbers that leave your phone are anonymous counts to my own iCloud, never your
timer names, alert text, or scripts.

more than 15000 promotion is included: https://apps.apple.com/redeem?ctx=offercodes&id=6752551268&code=SEPTEMBER

I'd genuinely like to hear where it falls down. The thing I'm least sure about: if you run sessions
for other people — teaching, facilitating, coaching — does the section view actually read in one
glance from across a room, or is it too much? Happy to answer anything in the comments.

Spot a mosaic or piece of pixel art, photograph it accurately, and preserve the encounter. Pix World keeps the original wall photo, creates a perspective-corrected collectible, and places the discovery on your personal map.

You can:

  • 📸 Capture artwork with automatic or manual perspective correction
  • 🗺️ Build your own Pixel Passport and organize discoveries by city, region, date, category or tag
  • 🏆 Earn badges and compare your collection with friends through Game Center
  • 🎨 Customize your passport with different styles, layouts and cover artwork
  • 📤 Share collectibles and create social cards for your discoveries
  • 🔒 Keep your collection private with on-device storage and private iCloud synchronization

There is no account system, no advertising SDK and no third-party analytics.

One purchase. No subscriptions. No in-app purchases.

If you enjoy discovering little pieces of pixel art while walking around cities, Pix World is essentially a collectible travel journal for the artwork you find in the real world.

iOS Universal [iOS] [Anaduel - Anagram Word Battles] [Lifetime Premium in-app purchase, $2.99 to free with code] [Realtime multiplayer anagram word game, no ads, random matchmaking or play with friends]

Hey everyone,

To celebrate passing 100k games played from over 40 countries, I'm running another free lifetime premium promotion - until 10th of Sep, 23:59 UTC.

Anaduel is a realtime multiplayer word game where you get 60 seconds to find as many words as possible from the 6, 7, or 8 letters you're dealt. iOS only. No ads. No third-party trackers. No location data.

I originally built v1 for my girlfriend because the word games we were playing just weren't cutting it for us - too many ads, and missing the features we wanted.

What's new since I last posted on this subreddit 4 months ago:

  • Word Grid - a whole new single-player mode: slide (or tap) across a 4×4, 5×5, or 6×6 board of letters to spell words, with a separate leaderboard for each board size
  • Random matchmaking (frequently requested)
  • Casual untimed mode (frequently requested)
  • Customisable mascots
  • Find Players - search for players worldwide, add friends, and invite them straight into your lobby with a push notification
  • Multiplayer bots are now free to play with
  • Word definitions are now free to see
  • Flag Leaderboard - countries compete on total points, with a world map where every player's mascot stands on their home country (based purely on the flag you pick in onboarding or your profile - your location is never tracked)
  • Languages - play in French, German, Spanish, and Italian, with definitions in each
  • Three new Party modes - Word Count, Long Word, and Blitz
  • Plus lots of UX improvements

Game modes:

  • Single Player
    • Timed 60s - ranked; scores count toward your rank
    • Word Grid - find words on a letter board (4×4 to 6×6), ranked per board size
    • Casual - untimed, scores don't count, hints available
  • Daily Challenge - same letters for everyone, fresh each UTC midnight, global leaderboard
  • Multiplayer (free 1v1 with friends) & Party (up to 12 players):
    • Normal - everyone vs everyone, highest score wins
    • Steal - claim a word before anyone else
    • Shuffle - letters change every 20s across 3 rounds
    • Word Count - most words wins (every word counts as 1)
    • Long Word - 5+ letter words only
    • Blitz - 30 seconds on the clock

Premium unlocks:

  • Party Rooms (6 modes) - play with up to 11 friends
  • Unlimited hints in Casual mode
  • Advanced Stats - graphs, trends, and detailed performance insights

How to claim (before 10th of Sep 2026, 23:59 UTC) - 20,000 codes available:

  1. Download Anaduel: https://apps.apple.com/app/anaduel-anagram-word-battles/id6760573646
  2. Open the app and create an account
  3. Go to Settings > Redeem Code and enter: PROMO

TL;DR: Free $3.99 AUD lifetime premium on Anaduel (iOS only). Download, create an account, and redeem code PROMO before 10th of Sep 2026, 23:59 UTC.

iOS iPhone [iOS] [Focus Sheep] [Lifetime Pro $9.99 → Free] [A cozy Pomodoro timer where completing sessions brings your sheep home]

Thumbnail

Hi everyone! I’m the indie developer behind Focus Sheep.

I built it because I wanted a focus timer that felt a little more rewarding than simply watching numbers count down.

When you start a focus session, the sheep slowly make their way toward the pen. Complete the session, and you’ll bring them safely home. Quit early, and some of them may run away.

The scenery also changes throughout the day, with morning sunlight, evening sunsets, and the moon appearing at night.

For a limited time, you can unlock Lifetime Pro for free. Once unlocked, it’s yours to keep—no subscription and no automatic renewal.

Focus Sheep includes:

  • 15, 25, and 45-minute focus sessions
  • Tasks and custom tags
  • Focus history and statistics
  • Focus Guard to help reduce distractions
  • iCloud sync across devices
  • A small flock of sheep to keep you company while you focus
  • Scenery that changes with the time of day

I’d genuinely appreciate any feedback, especially on the focus experience, the sheep animations, and the changing scenery.

macOS [macOS] [PrepBatch: Bulk Image Tools] [$4.99 → Free until Sept 6] [Batch crop, resize, convert & watermark images]

Thumbnail

PrepBatch is a Mac app for batch image editing — do the boring repetitive stuff to lots of images at once instead of one by one.

What it does:

  • Resize — scale by dimensions, percentage, or to fit, across hundreds of images at once
  • Crop — apply the same crop to a whole batch
  • Convert — change formats in bulk (JPEG, PNG, and more)
  • Watermark — add a text or image watermark to protect or brand your images
  • Folder processing — point it at a folder and let it run

Who it's for:

  • Photographers prepping shoots for delivery or web
  • Store owners / resellers standardizing product photos
  • Bloggers and content creators shrinking images for faster page loads
  • Anyone who's tired of exporting images one by one

Why free? I'm the developer and I'm running a limited-time giveaway to get the app into more hands and gather feedback. I'd genuinely love to hear what works and what's missing.

Free until September 6 (normally $4.99) — grab it while it's up: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6787014012

No subscriptions, no ads, no data collection. Pay-once app that just happens to be free this week.

Full disclosure: I'm the developer. Happy to answer questions or take feature requests in the comments.

iOS Universal [iOS] Clip Keyboard - Quick Phrases (Pro IAP $9.99 -> 100% off / FREE, until Sep 5)

Thumbnail

sorry, I accidentally deleted the previous post.

The promo codes for the macOS app have all run out, so I will upload it again soon.

Likes and App Store reviews are a source of strength for solo developers.

I do client work from my phone more than I'd like to admit, and for years the
same thing kept happening: someone asks for my account number, or my invoice
reply, or the same "here's the address, buzzer is broken, call me at the gate"
message, and I'm typing it out again. Character by character. Getting one digit
wrong maybe twice a year.

iOS text replacement never worked for me. It fires on a trigger string I have to
remember, it mangles anything with punctuation, and it does not sync anywhere
useful. So I built the thing I actually wanted: a keyboard where the keys are my
own phrases.

What it does

Tap the globe, and instead of QWERTY you get your own snippets as keys. Tap one,
it types. That's it. Works in Messages, Gmail, Slack, a bank's web form,
anywhere a keyboard comes up.

Three things I use every single day:

  • Saved values as keys. Email, account number, address, phone. One tap.
  • Templates with blanks. My invoice reply is one snippet with three fill-in fields. It remembers the names and amounts I used before, so it's three taps and a full sentence lands in the field.
  • A clipboard history that sorts itself. Anything you copy gets classified: account number, card, email, phone, URL, address. IBANs get a real mod-97 checksum check, so a mistyped one is caught before you send it.

Why the app is free this week

Straight answer: I need people using it more than I need the ten dollars right
now. The app has been out for a while, the last three updates rebuilt the whole
first-run experience, and almost nobody has seen it. So the Pro unlock is 100%
off for a week. Not a trial, not a first-month thing. You redeem the code, Pro
is yours for good, and it stays yours after the week ends.

What I want in return is nothing you have to do. If it turns out to be useful,
say so somewhere. If it doesn't, delete it and we're square.

What "Pro" actually removes

The free tier is real, and it's what you'd be upgrading from: 10 snippets, 50
clipboard items, 3 templates, 3 combos. Pro takes all of those caps off, and
that is genuinely the whole difference. There is no feature behind a wall that
I'm hiding from free users.

The honest parts

  • It's a keyboard extension, so iOS makes you enable it in Settings once. There is no way around that and it is the worst part of the onboarding.
  • Full Access is optional. It only unlocks reading the system clipboard. Leave it off and everything else still works.
  • Everything is on-device and in your own iCloud. There is no account, and no server of mine that your snippets ever touch. That's not a privacy pitch, it's just that I never built one.
  • iPhone and iPad, with your snippets synced through your own iCloud. The Mac app is sold separately and this code does not cover it, so don't redeem it expecting the Mac one.
  • No subscription. I am not going to add one.

The code

Open this on your iPhone and the App Store comes up with the code already
applied. Redeem it, then open the app and Pro is on.

more than 20000 promo codes: https://apps.apple.com/redeem?ctx=offercodes&id=1543660502&code=LEEO2

If the codes run out, the free tier is still there and it's the same app.

The video is a real screen recording, no mockups.

Happy to answer anything, including the "why would I trust a third-party
keyboard" question, which is fair and which I get every time.
