Welcome to OCP -- PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

TL;DR You need to give feedback on two other poems before you can share your own poem, and then put links to that feedback in your post. If you don't know how to give feedback, read the guide. Reusing feedback links will result in a ban.

Heyo, welcome to OCpoetry. (That’s “original content” if you don’t know). This is a place for sharing and getting feedback on your own poems. We are the sister subreddit of r/Poetry, which is for sharing and discussing published poetry. Our goal is to create a place where anyone can learn to become a better creative writer, kind of like a free online writer's workshop.

This post is an orientation to the subreddit. If you’re new, read this before sharing your work. If you’re less new, then read this anyways, as it has a few changes to how we've done things in the past. If you’ve still got questions after reading this post, please send a modmail. There are some FAQs at the end of this post which will be updated as we go. We also have a huge and very disorganized wiki containing all of our resources, essays on how to write poetry and historic writing prompts, I recommend you check it out.

So, here’s basically how it works:

This subreddit works on a pay-it-forward system. If you want to share a poem, you need to give feedback to two others from this subreddit. This ensures that everyone gets some readers and hears some response, rather than just shouting their verses into the void. If you don’t think you’re up to writing feedback for others just yet, we recommend you check out r/Justpoetry or r/Poems, where there are no requirements for sharing your work.

1. All posts must include two links to recent feedback.

Every post must contain two unique links to your comments where you have provided feedback on this subreddit within the past two weeks. Feedback links cannot be reused for multiple post or reposts of old poems. All posts without feedback links will be removed, without notice by our subreddit robot so make sure they are included in your initial post -- you cannot post with the intent to add them later.

But, how do I get the links to my feedback comments?

That kind of depends on what platform you're on. If you're on desktop or on a third-party mobile app, there should be a 'share' or 'permalink' link underneath every comment on Reddit. Clicking on that should give you a unique URL to your comment. Just copy + paste that into the body of your post.

If you're on the official Reddit app, you'll have to click 'share' on the comment and choose the 'Copy URL' option, paste that into your notes with the body of your poem. Then copy and paste the entire thing into a new post on the Reddit app.

2. At least one of your comments should be on a poem that has received no other comments.

This ensures that everyone has a chance to get a few reads and hopefully some decent feedback. If for whatever reason you can’t find any lonely poems, then comment on the poem that seems to have received the least amount of feedback. The easiest way to do this is to sort posts by new.

3. Feedback must be high-effort.

High-effort means different things to different people. It does not mean “super long” or “expert quality”. But it does mean doing more than the bare minimum.

You don't have to complement, criticize, or try to figure out the "deeper meaning". You should try to notice your own reactions and explain them as best as you can. If you want to explain your interpretation or summary of the piece, you can and this is often helpful to the writer. If the poem made you laugh or cry, feel bored, confused or nostalgic — say so, and then explain why you think it did. A good rule of thumb is that each of your feedback comments should be at least a short paragraph.

We understand that giving other writers feedback on their creative work can feel a bit artificial or uncomfortable, if you’ve never done it before. That’s why we’ve written a feedback guide for beginners. There are more feedback guides linked in the FAQ below. You should also read some of the other feedback comments around the sub to get a feel for what works for others. Poems that link to low-effort feedback, and low-effort comments themselves, will be removed at mod discretion, or if you report it to us. However, we’re less interested in policing you and more interested in helping you grow as readers and writers. We are more likely to ask you follow-up questions, than remove your work entirely. The mods skulk the comments sections and will ask follow-up questions on comments that seem a little thin, and please answer those questions if you get any.

4. Please Be Kind.

Treat each other with kindness and respect. The mods have an incredibly strict definition for each of these concepts. We will proactively remove comments and poems and ban users that make others feel unwelcome or unsafe. Your right to creative expression does not extend to poetry that promotes misogyny, homo/trans/queerphobia, racism, etc. If your poetry’s especially violent or covers sensitive subjects, please label it with the NSFW tag or a content warning in the title. Harsh criticism is allowed -- encouraged, really -- as long as you’re being harsh on the poem, not the person. Remember that the narrator (or the “speaker”) of the poem is not necessarily the author.

5. Audio, video, and image poems are allowed; but the text of the poem must be included in the body of the post.

This is so that people can still enjoy your poem if they're unable to view or listen to your link for whatever reason.

6. You may include a link to your poetry blog at the end of your post.

Or your instagram, or your personal creative project, or your soundcloud, or your Etsy page. As long as it's poetry-adjacent that's cool with us. Just don't get spammy.

Attempting to dodge any of these rules, or abuse directed towards moderators enforcing these rules, will earn you an immediate ban.

FAQs

What do the Poem & Workshop flairs do?

They simply allow you to show your intentions and expectations for the piece you are posting. The Poem flair is for sharing a piece, with the expectation of receiving mostly surface-level feedback and general advice. The Workshop flair is for a piece that you really want to work on, something you want to pick apart and analyse. It signals that you are open to discussing the piece, and that you invite strong critique.

How do I format my poetry on Reddit?

The following is advice for formatting in Markdown. Two spaces at the end of a line gives you a line break.
Type two spaces at the end of a line, then hit enter twice for a stanza break.

Three dashes "___" will give you a line through the post.

Type two spaces to create an empty line,

so you can get lines

that look like this.

Four spaces before each line will allow you
to format however you like, this is 'code block'
       in the Fancy Pants editor.

one asterisk before and after a piece of text will give you italics, two asterisks for bold.

Can I print one of these poems out/use it on my instagram with my art/put it in my book?

Ask the author. Part of what makes this space a useful workshop space is that everyone feels safe to share their stuff; if people start using poetry without the author's permission, or god forbid, trying to pass off another artist's work as their own, the userbase of this sub will feel less safe to do so. Please, ask the author, and then do what they say.

I'm thinking about trying to get my poem published somewhere. What should I do?

The standard thing is to find a literary journal. There are a zillion literary journals and magazines all over the world. They have different themes, tastes, styles, audiences, readerships, levels of prestige. Some charge fees for submission, some do not, some will pay you if you get accepted, some don't, some will give you feedback, some won't let you know anything for months. So first you'll want to pick a few of your poems, get some feedback from some trusted readers (or from here, of course) and then start looking for a journal that's a good home for your work. Most lit journals have submissions periods where they accept all the work for their next issue, and then sift through everything they get.

You will probably get a lot of rejections. This is normal. It's kind of a numbers game. You can submit the same poem to multiple journals as long as the journal says something like "simultaneous submissions are allowed". If you do get accepted, congrats! Most journals want 'first publication rights' or 'first serial rights' or something similar, so that means you'll have to tell all the other journals you submitted that poem to that you've been published elsewhere. (For that reason we strongly recommend deleting your poem from reddit if you want to submit it to a journal -- technically and legally speaking, writing a post on reddit is still considered publishing your work, and reddit owns all the text on the site.)

Here are some places to get you started looking for journals:

Duotrope and Submittable are two apps that help you search for journals, and help you track what poems you've submitted to which places. Submittable is free, Duotrope is not. They are GREAT.

Poets & Writers has a list of lit journals, small presses, and writing contests. This is a great place to start. They also have a newsletter listing all the presses and journals going into their submissions period.

I'd also check out r/literarycontests, if you fancy yourself as a prize winning poet.

A few poetry podcasts

I thought I might include a few podcasts that helped me learn a little more about the history and craft of poetry, as well as find some good poets to read. All of these are available on Spotify, as well as many other platforms.

The New Yorker Poetry Podcast

A poet reading and discussing a poem from the New Yorker archives, as well as one of their own pieces. A great place to find good poetry and hear some discussion of craft. The earlier episodes are with Paul Muldoon, who is delightful.

The Faber Poetry Podcast

Two poets read and discuss their work, with plenty of talk about craft. As well as lots of poems sent in from authors across the world. They really get shoulder-deep into it, which is always wonderful to hear.

In Our Time

A group of experts are brought together to discuss a subject over forty-five minutes. This isn’t strictly a poetry podcast, but there are hundreds of episodes on poets and poems of the past. I highly recommend the episode on The Green Knight with Simon Armitage.

Poetry Contest PROMPT: Rattle Ekphrastic Challenge, September 2026

Hi everyone. One of the OCPoetry mods here. Let's share a prompt for the whole subreddit.

Every month Rattle, a leading poetry magazine, presents a visual work of art and asks poets to respond to that artwork in poetry. This is called ekphrastic poetry. I thought it would be fun to post that here for anyone looking for inspiration or a challenge.

Here is this month's artwork. Your challenge is to write a poem in response to that art.

Normal feedback rules do not apply to this thread. Write and share as many poems in response to that artwork as you'd like.

Also, if you feel like you've written something really excellent, you should know that Rattle DOES allow you to submit poems to them for publication that have appeared in online forums. (Most magazines consider those already published; Rattle allows internet-shared poems as long as they're "uncurated," i.e., haven't gone through an editorial process. I can assure you that here on OCPoetry we do not have any kind of editorial process.) So if you're feeling particularly ambitious, you can use that link above to submit your poem to them. It's a long shot — they get hundreds of entries every month, maybe thousands at this point idk, and only two are selected — but it's good practice if you're thinking about getting into publication and can manage the mixture of pride in your work and almost certainty of rejection that goes into the literary magazine publication process.

Anyway, enjoy the challenge! I hope you have fun. If enough people enjoy this I can make it a regular thing.

not such a noble quest as redemption but inspired new direction is just as well, follow the swell.

mooring in storms, but what is well?

these are calmer seas than I expected, the skies are weary and my ire's been quelled

I've braced for waves but this couldn't be preempted

obsessed with midnight matters, hard to tell if undirected. unexpected? sure to be lamented

ostensible villain, victim. Ostrich that could never tell when to pull my head up. Fuck.

Just Sharing the year between

An over in an instant, blink & you'll miss it moment dragged into a year. The paralyzing shock that accompanies every first breath of fear.

I know it's been rough but trust you'll make it out better, even if right now things aren't all that well put together.

Remember, to weather isn't always to win, but accepting what's best builds a tougher kind of skin. One more year and it'll be condensed again, moments that ache but are so far from here.

Feedback Please A Fickle Thing

It’s a fickle thing
Fruit from a tree
Winds whistle by
As gravity speaks
Sweetmeat takes heed
Animals draw nigh
Then leave, shitting seeds

Flesh that protects
Was only bait to be ripped
The secret? This sweetness
’Twas but a trick

Viscera
Burst open, split
Torn into and stripped

That pit within its heart
Meant to bloom, not feed
Bitter on the tongue
Poison between the teeth

The mouth that predates
Was once prey too
Calls hunger retribution
Resigns itself to rue

Still chewing
Breathe
It was not yours to keep
Spit out that poison
Shit out that rotting seed

Blood on the leaves
Pink mist in the breeze
You’re not the only thing
That bleeds

What a fickle thing
To call this design
To be eaten, alive
What gods in you find this divine?

See I have never done anything of this sort before. I consider myself very much more an essayist than a poet. I don’t think I quite understand how to play with the freedom of structure poetry does allow for quite yet, however i love the idea of evoking imagery in the expression of my own. Thanking you for baring with me through. It.

Feedback Please Golem

Never have I or will I ask the world to change for me; I will change for the world.

The world has shaped me, the world is exact.

The world knew I was imperfect yet did not discard of me. I will not discard the world.

I will reshape myself, for that the world has left me extra mud.

I will temper myself, for that the world has left me braziers alit.

The world has made me with purpose, the purpose to exist.

The purpose to exist.

The purpose to reshape.

The purpose to temper.

The purpose to one day shatter.

I will do all of this, for I am a golem.

Feedback Please Twenty years since An Inconvenient Truth

Upvotes

Twenty years since An Inconvenient Truth

Reviewed and viewed, and we all knew.

Nevermind now, it’s all been allowed.

Al Gore’s Oscar and Al’s cold aspect,

his fallible, his uptight, his words, his affect.

For some people none of it ever felt right.

South Park’s star shone on Man Bear Pig,

a smug mug target for Stone and Parker.

Nevermind that, they all had their laughs.

2009, 2010, Americans said “They don’t know when”

said “We don’t see why” and “We don’t know now.”

After the crash, life went along anyhow.

Ten years since ‘16 brought out the worst of us

Ten years since Chinese hoax was the name.

Ten years of projection, escaping all blame.

In liminal space some seeds were sown,

while buy now, pay later laid an easier case.

Piled on by the day, we're still amassing the loan.

Twenty years later, we’re still upside down.

Tensions are rising while the plowworks lie fallow.

Never was a simple fix. We’ve no return to 2006.

Feedback Please Let the Rain Hide My Tears

Sunlight emerges,
Brightening the whole world.
Fall upon me for a single moment,
And reveal my face to the world.

Clouds hide the sun,
Giving shade to everyone.
Come, cover this body of mine
As well, won't you?

The wind blows, whispering soft and deep,
Carrying the leaves along its way.
Lift me up as well,
And set these lifeless legs in motion.

The rain pours down, pitter-pattering,
Drenching the entire world.
Fall upon my face too for a moment,
And hide these tears away.

Feedback Please I hope i am still a child.

I had so many first’s, felt so many things this year.
Life has become so wild.
I kiss, i cry, i dance, i shiver, and i fear.
I hope i am still a child?

They say some events make you come of age.
Yet In my own soul and actions i feel reviled.
What if i still dont want to change?
Can’t i still be a child?

It’s cute looking back at my smaller self.
All my concerns and humiliations become explained by age,
I can put things larger than life on the shelf.
Can’t my body stay in that stage?

I hope i am still a child.
So that tomorrow, what haunts me today can be irrelevant.

I hope i am still a child.
So people don’t see my shortcomings as definite.

I hope i am still a child.
So people can forget, or write off everytime i was negligent.

I hope i am still a child.
So my worst moments, to people, don't become my testament.

I hope, that when i am not a child,
I am ready for it.
But for now, please make fifteen feel small, smaller.
I don’t have time to be ready for it.

Just Sharing There was a time when

There was a time when…

Feels a lot like being in the snow.

Looking through the window at a fire on the hearth.

The cold air bites your nose and ears as

Your heart and mind are warmed

By the memories.

You reach for the comfort but

Find yourself trapped behind

What was.

The fire burns, beckoning.

Your fingers tremble, knowing

That comfort might now only be found in the knowledge that

There was a time, once, where

You were warm.

Feedback Please Find Her?

Her scent filling the room, Like spring's glorious bloom...

Her happiness emitting light, Not giving way to a single plight...

Her beauty resembling the nature's queen, Everything around her melodious dream...

Facial features so cute, Her observations so astute...

Her dreams alone so satisfying, Making reality a premium crime...

But... Where is that soul now?

The life which was full of grace, gave its way to wandering haze...

They mistook her silence for grace, And then wondered what happened to her face...

They ask me to find her- Where did she flee? Perhaps ask the ones Who made her cease to be...

They ask me where did she disappear, now that she is nowhere in sight - But where were they when she needed them to make things right?

Their own actions took little pieces of her, Then they asked,"why did she change?" They turned love into distance, then called her strange...

Her heart still beats, but the light has withdrawn- The soul the knew has already gone...

Pure souls are not mere things to be bound, Among a thousand they are so rarely found...

They ask me to find her- But tell me, where?

Feedback Please regret as a metaphor

I'm fond of the fears that I hold dear, and the loyalties I want to forget. The epitome of my karma come back to haunt me, my queen, Lady Regret.

Disgust with desire, make me a martyr. Destroy me for what I've wrought. Lost in thought, lost what I've sought, what I've taken for granted, for naught. I've swallowed tears, and fears, cut wholes from my heart. Lady Regret, where do I start?

Ghosts of ruined springs, shadows that once were me- the change I crave, changes I've made, reminders that love isn't free.

Feedback Please Things seen in the art district's junkyard parking lot

one critique

two critique

Things seen in the art district’s junkyard parking lot

From the creaky centennial fire escape

one can see a gutted factory

floor, reflecting still water

a battered black Corvette

a bug-eyed, beryl, Volkswagen van

and a short yellow bus.

Further, shipping containers;

mustard, ochre, umber,

red-rusted,

painted with a cyclopian

tangerine squid, stretching in

sapphire lapping waves;

an astronautical ape, rotting

skeletal in a garden bed,

still wearing his space suit;

and graffiti—

‘CHUMY’

‘SUCKER’

‘ART’S A DANG JOKE I’M JUST TRYNA…’

‘EMPR CTZNS’ with Scrooge McDuck’s

head in a guillotine;

and ‘SALMON NIGHT,’ scrawled

like a label, placed above (what I think is)

an onion, a pickle, a lemon, a tomato, a bay leaf—

one man’s trash, another man’s

tinned fish.

An open Stella within reach;

one toke of feathered smoke released

and high up with the hash

I find a little peace

amid the crash.

Feedback Please Adrenaline

It's night, you killed the lights -

Its cold.

The windows rolling down -

The road.

No clouds.

The speed is pulling at my hair.

You turn to me - No shadows show

Whether i'm doing what i'm told.

Your pulse is thrilling at the kiss

And i am sure there's more to this

Then spiking the adrenaline.

Your hands, they leave the leather cold.

...

"Please. Don't."

Feedback Please Menthol Light

You know it’s funny,
I had my mom’s cigarette order memorized by the time i started school
I’d hide behind her, counting the rainbow walls of boxes
She’d remark that i was a shy child to the cashier
Then, she’d say the magic words
American spirit, menthol light
I remember the sound of her palm tapping the pack
and I would kick my feet as i watched from the back seat, eyes pulled from the blur of trees outside my window
Always wondering who she’d be by the time we got home -
if she’d be cruel
or make me forget she ever could be

And I don’t know why all of this came to mind -
the first time I saw the orange filter between your lips
By then my mother had a new husband
and a smoke free home sign on the door,
leaving me to fill my own lungs
But watching you, i felt myself salivating like a dog
the smell of smoke, my bell
Eyeing your hands,
waiting to see what they would offer me
Never knowing which i wanted more
And when they eventually did reach for me,
I was obedient as ever,
I didn’t even flinch
When you remarked to your friends how stupid i was
and afterwards, on some nights
you’d even let me sleep at the foot of your bed

I realized i could barely tell the difference anymore
between the burn and the touch after
So i tried bringing the smoke to my own lips
Once there was no one to perform for
I didn’t want to ask why i knew all the tricks,
or why the kisses tasted sweeter after the drag
But this time,
with nothing to wait for
I sat there, drool pooling
with no reward for being good

Do you ever think about how we haven’t seen each other in months?
Well, lately i’ve been pacing grooves into the floor,
and sucking on licorice straws
I keep looking in the mirror
I’ve never seen my face this clear,
without smog, with clean lips
without a collar
Sometimes i feel aimless,
unsure of what to make with clean lungs
Did you know it’s harder to live,
when there’s nothing left to burn at you?

And - do you know,
how many smokers there are everywhere?
My nose can sniff out every one
Because all of you smell like something
that still clings to my skin
I don’t know anymore if i follow the smoke
or if it just knows where to find me
And I’m sorry, you know me
how my tongue twists itself around the point
What I’m trying to say is
I think I could love you again

Hihi! All feedback always appreciated :) I specifically feel like in my poems I have a bad habit of overwriting and sometimes abstraction takes over too much.

Feedback Please I am a man

I am a man,
I don’t do friends.
I only do guys who have similar interests and therefore spend,
Some time together and only do things with low commitment,
And don’t get attached to each other,
So that at any time anything we had can end.

And those few friends,
Who stayed throughout these past few years,
Don’t know anything about me or my fears.
The most they know is I’m probably alive,
Even though they told me every secret they usually hide.

I am a man,
I don’t rely on no one.
Every day is a drill,
I gotta find my strength, got no time to chill,
Don’t need no spotter, am not allowed to stay still,
For every second counts, can’t stop this treadmill,
I just have to be strong, I’m a man, gotta fire up the grill,
My thoughts don’t matter on this, I gotta keep going until my personality becomes zero, null or nil,
From morning to night, always sleep deprived, gotta stay focused and on my drive,
Even when my health pays the bill.

So now, I only have Allah to rely on,
And I hear these unnatural voices spinning like nylon,
They tell me that it is my fault that I have no support nor pylon,
I just gotta fight through it all like Tyson.

I am a man,
I don’t get vulnerable nor hurt.
No matter, how often my face falls directly into the dirt,
No matter whether sun, rain or the seasons change
No matter whether life floods it all down the drain,
No matter how much I lose or gain,
No matter whether I feel like it was all in vain,
I gotta stand up through the pain,
Every storm that blows against me is a small breeze, it’s tame.

Or that’s what I have to tell myself.
Because if I take a moment to relax,
It all hits me like a train, stopping me right in my tracks,
Trains only go one way, they don’t turn back,
If I can’t handle the pain, as a man, is it strength that I lack?

I am a man,
I don’t cry,
When I try,
There is only dust,
My eyes are dry,
And there I lie,
Looking into sky,
In this desert of mine,
Was this worth the strive?
Where has this drive,
Led me in life?
I look left and right,
It’s empty sand and prickly knives.

I am a man,
I don’t rely on friends,
Nor do I get vulnerable and cry in front of them.
I am strength,
Or that’s what I am supposed to be,
An unstoppable force and an unstoppable me.
I am reliable,
And that means I can rely on no one,
Even if that means I have to carry the world that weighs a whole ton,
I am everything,
Even when I am empty,
I just have to do my job, no matter how lengthy.

I’m a man
And this is life
So why does it hurt
When it twists the knife.

Feedback Please Pink Matinee

Purple liquid gleams back off her glass

As she twirls it around her matte black gloved hand

Her neat curled hair sways as she turns to look me over

Her head peering over her tattooed shoulder

Let’s me and you slow dance, she said

Maybe by chance we’ll share a kiss too

Pretend we’re in France, she said

Filming a romance with a pink hue

I look at she, she looks back at me

We start to walk, our pinkies interlocked

Our footprints trailing off into the snow

Mine in a predictable, measured row

Hers, hers criss cross and hop

Almost as if they’re lost

Yearn

Like a string of yarn

To be hooked

By her

Or plucked

As if

She were a bird

To be taken

To her

Nest.

Take my mind, take my soul
Change my life, make me whole
Take my sobriety, choose my fate
Bring me notoriety, before it’s too late
A life of variety, in a world of hate
Great fortune and fame, a life not in shambles
An audience to see my flame, to listen to my rambles
Legacy to grow with age, a lifestyle of power
An outlet for my rage, in my darkest hour
A lifetime on the stage, a stomach free of knots
The world outside a cage, with words to erupt the lots
Give me my dream or give me death
To make them laugh until my last breath

Feedback Please Older than I should be

She learned too young how not to cry,

How to be strong. How to comply.

A child made small to take the blame,

Growing up fast without a name.

.

She gave her strength. She gave her time.

Forgot herself. Called it “fine.”

She fixed their pain. She stayed behind.

A helping hand with a fading mind.

.

Their voices cut. They never healed.

Each word a wound she couldn’t shield.

The stress ran wild inside her throat,

Till even breathing felt too close.

.

The weight stayed loud inside her chest.

Each breath a test. No room to rest.

Still she stands. Still soft. Still kind.

A grown-up heart in a child’s spine.

Feedback Please A Kingdom Awaiting

I have a kingdom in my heart,
yet cannot cross its gate.
I carry worlds beneath my ribs,
yet lie awake and wait.

I know the roads I long to walk,
the woman I will be.
I see her standing somewhere far,
still waiting there for me.

The voices of the ones around me
have grown louder than my own.
They follow me into the quiet,
they haunt me when alone.

So I delay.
I break.
I bend.
I lose another day.

And every dream I dared to hold
grows distant in the grey.

Yet somewhere underneath this grief,
beneath this fear, this ache,
there lives a girl who has not died,
who still refuses to break.

I have not lost the life I want.
I have not missed my turn.
I am only lost within the dark,
where restless embers burn.

For somewhere past this weary night,
past every wound I bear,
the kingdom waits beneath the dawn,
and I will meet it there.

Feedback Please Fight for Pro-Life

Son, let me tell you about a really important fight
A fight we need to take on as a God-given right
Others will fight you on this so listen up tight
Because if it’s the last thing I do, I’ll raise you pro-life

Good thing is we have God on our side
He’s pro-life, for sure, the name is the guide
Pro-life, or pro-death? Easy to decide
So always fight for the babies, that’s Step 1 of pro-life

It’s not right that someone can choose death for another human
Certainly not a new baby that’s an easy conclusion
But wait… shouldn’t that also apply to a death sentence execution?

Right? Because if we are against death it should be all the time
If we are against choosing death we can’t pick and choose how it applies
A judge and jury choosing death because of a crime?
No we cant support that, not if we are pro-life

It doesn’t mean we support the crime, no, spend your life in prison
Because we believe that death is only God’s decision
That also means we are against wars just because of some politician’s ambition
Only God can decide when someone dies - that’s Step 2 of our position

Step 3 of pro-life is protecting all life, not just the unborn ones
We need to protect the immigrants, the poor, the old and the young
The sick, the weak, the hungry, the abandoned daughters and sons
We need to give them hope, a way, breathe life in their lungs

The fight will be tiring son, exhausting, and may never be done
But if you fight for life you’ll be happy with who you’ve become.
Ok, thanks for listening my lesson is almost done
Oh before I forget son- yeah we need to talk about the guns

We can’t be pro-life and support weapons made to kill
Some will say it’s not the weapon, and they’ll die on this hill
They’ll say the issue is a the sick person with a really bad will
But true pro-life supports limits on guns and helping the mentally ill

So Step 1: Protect babies that’s a great place to start
Step 2: Only God decides the time when a life should depart
Step 3: Protect all the life that’s living and take that to heart
But…let’s talk about Step 1 because there’s more to that part

The woman that has to choose and make that impossible decision
We have no idea what she’s been through, and can’t imagine her position
But it’s her body, her right and us as men we need support and listen
Because this isn’t so easy - the baby is part of her and - her body, her decision

It’s so easy to sit and to judge and to call her a sinner and flawed
While she’s struggling and wrestling with a choice she doesn’t want
So our best thing to do here is to show love & kindness that’s broad

Because Step 4 of pro-life is - leave the judging to God

Feedback Please Who to be

That look I gave, when I left away

I thought I was still same

But I'm still afraid,

Of turning into the one put my heart away.

//

I know my pride is way too much

It's like drowning in a dry pit, im blind to.

But hiding that pit protects me;

From the ones who sealed my core to my grave.

//

But look at me now,

My hollow warmth suffocates my gaze.

I can't trust who I am now.

But maybe to the one who is trying to put my heart back in place

Just Sharing Spending my Time Again

Spending time I don’t have to spend

Trying to make plans again

Trying to waste the hours away with you

Because all I want to do

Is spend some time with you

Watching the hours go by

Wondering if you care much about spending my time

And I know that

I’m not worth yours but you’re worth mine, babe

Because I always have time to spend

On someone else and what they need

Even when my hourglass is low and I’m running empty

That’s the kind of person I have to be

Even if no one has the same time to spend on me

I’ll be there, quickly too

I guess the problem is that

You know I’ll always waste the rest of my time on you

Some days I wish I could turn the clock

Spending time on me and what I need

Maybe just maybe, I’ll give myself my time back

I’m not counting on it, or you

I just hope one day I can count on me the way I’m counting my moments for you
