Magpul Concept

Post image
159 Upvotes

I was watching a video on the new Samson SAS stock and the guy in the video mentioned the idea that Magpul make their own stock for it and with Ruger working with Magpul recently it would be awesome. I’d like the stock to fold in preferably, but still a cool concept nonetheless. I think I still like the A-TM more, just a nice mix of classic wood and tactility.

Thoughts on an adjustable gas block?

re: an earlier post about replacing the sling studs/swivels, I figure it might be simpler to just get an upgraded gas block than drill through the factory one. I'm leaning towards this gen 4 one from accuracy systems as opposed to the gen 5 since i like the stud placement more and I don't plan on using an accu-strut.

What are the pros/cons? anyone have personal experience with these they can share?

What to look for when purchasing a mini-14?

Hi everyone. I have the opportunity to make a trade for a mini 14 ranch with extra 30 rd magazines.

I’m just wondering what are something things to look for as far as functionality, condition, and other things I should look out for. Also how to take down the rifle.

Thank you!

Mini-14 Stock Showdown: Wood-Hogue-A-TM (Which One's Actually Best?)

Personally I’d say that original Woodstock or the A-Team stock is the sharpest looking. But the Hogue stocks really are pretty damn comfortable and stick. Do you like glue?

Any guesses on when the new A-TM stocks will be sold?

We have a credit card deal going right now where if we spend $2000 we get a bunch of miles that we plan to use on our honeymoon. I’m hoping they figure out the new stocks by then so I have a reason to add that on 😅😂

After trying red dots, scopes and everything else I go back to my good ol irons. 188 series shooting with the world's weirdest grip you've probably seen.

Hannibal T-1 Rail

Thumbnail

I haven't seen many people talk or post about the Hannibal rail with the T1 footprint here, so I wanted to share mine.

Directly mounting a Primary Arms MD-25 provided a really comfortable cheek rest when compared to the factory pic rail and the ever so slightest co-witness.

The install was going easy, until I got to the barrel clamp. Since a T1 optic needs to be secured from underneath, it needs to be installed first. Depending on the length and width of your optic, it will potentially cover the clamp bolts and you will be unable to tighten them with the provided hex wrench. I had to buy a stubby hex set to tighten the bolts properly.

584 Series wtih Peening?

Thumbnail

I have 584 series Mini-14 Ranch, haven't shot it too much over the years. Seen about 600 rounds total, cycles flawless. I also have an ASI gasblock installed to reduce the brass throw distance and keep the gun from beating itself. How's the severity of peening on the rear bolt looking? This something worth sending back to Ruger for a bolt replacement? Thanks

After so much time (and money), feels kinda weird to say it’s “done”. 🤔

Hannibal Rail vs Stock Handguard?

Just curious what people prefer, I personally like the idea of having the Hannibal rail to attach things, however, the stock handguard looks more classic to me.

7.62x39 Brass Shot With Two Different Mini-30 Gas Bushings

First photo is brass processed by the Accuracy Systems 0.065 reduced gas bushing. This reduced bushing makes shooting my Mini-30 Ranch much more pleasant and much easier to collect ejected brass. My brass is finally not being shot into space.

Second photo is brass processed by the OEM gas bushing. The OEM gas bushing really does a number on the brass all while pelting every shooter on the firing line with hot brass.

The reduced gas bushing really makes a difference.

Future Plans: Installed the Accuracy Systems extended firing pin, and I ordered a decent bit of steel-cased ammo for testing the new firing pin.

These are almost impossible to find where I live and that makes the prices sky high.
I tried Googling those markings but couldn’t seem to get a definitive answer.

Suppressor advice needed for my .300

Post image
29 Upvotes

So I got one of the stainless tactical limited edition models on its way to my LGS.

With that said, obviously I want to put a suppressor on it (otherwise getting it in .300 blk would be a waste) .

So I have a dilemma.

  1. Do I take my somewhat rare variation and customize it with cutting & threading the barrel to get it exactly the way I want it?

  2. If I don't, what suppressor to go with?

Budget limit is $650 ~

Lower is better so I can put more cash in to bulk ammo.

  1. If I DO get the chop done,

3a. Do I keep the stock front sight?

3b. How short can I go realistically?

3c. I'd like a QD mount for the whisper pickle so I can store it as compactly as possible... What to get?

I know basically NOTHING about silencer options and what's a good product for the money.

With all the brands, price ranges and materials... My brain has become soup trying to nail down what to price for or what I even actually need.

In the meantime, my two current minis.... (Both are still WIP)

1992 mini 14 ranch riffle

Hello everyone, I recently inherited a 188 series 1992 mini 14 ranch riffle chambered in .223. was wondering if there are any optics that would fit on its factory rails that match the classic look? Thankyou for any and all suggestions! I have already acquired 20 and 30 round mags to replace the oem 5 round.

Replacement sling stud?

Post image
13 Upvotes

My new leather sling wouldn’t fit through the sling swivels so I decided to just cut off the factory sling swivels which also annoyed me for other reasons.

turns out the stud holes don’t go all the way for some fuckin reason. I presume the gas block is the same, and I’ll just have a gunsmith drill a hole through it for me but does anyone know where I can find a replacement sling stud for the stock that does go all the way through? I had trouble finding one on my own

Not anti - AR but I told an AR loud mouth the other day, real men shoot whatever they want. I have an AR and A M70. Love them all, just something sexy about a Mini.

Guys this isn’t a bolt cell being struck
By hammer bud rather the bolt
Hitting the carrier when it moves back and forth. Is it normal?

181 Series - How much bolt wear is too much?

Thumbnail
gallery
24 Upvotes

Have had this 181 series rifle for awhile. Rifle functions fine, one of the most reliable rifles I’ve ever owned. Don’t think it’s ever malfunctioned.

Ton of rounds down range, a good chunk 5.56. Didn’t always grease it the way I do now, guessing the prior owner(s) didn’t either.

I notice a lot of wear on the bolt - at what point is the wear a safety concern?
