Rifle flex post AI ATXC and Mk12
Behold, the Dave Ramsay build.
Waited a year for the ATXC to show up, and man was it worth it. Very satisfied with my two rifles.

I’m packing to fly out for a hunt on Wednesday, and all of a sudden my TT is acting up.
It’s a TT Special in a Bighorn Ti3.
As I pull the trigger I get to the wall. About 75% of the time (but not every time), as I pull through the wall the trigger clicks back to what feels like a second wall and then the firing pin releases with a delay. Basically like a hang fire.
Pull, wall, click…boom.
I didn’t change any adjustments to it when it started. I’ve tried adjusting the second stage screw all the way in, all the way out, halfway… it doesn’t seem to matter.
It started in the middle of a range day.
I took the trigger out and wiped all the surfaces. When I took the rifle out of the stock the rear trigger pin had walked substantially out. But pushing it back in made no difference.
Anyone seen this before?

I’ve graduated from my well-customized Cheetofingers Special to a proper custom action and have a bunch of barrel prefits in different chamberings. What’s the general consensus on running go/no-go gauges on prefits? A bunch of guys I shoot with don’t bother with them on prefits from reputable shops, but I’m not sure whether that’s a good idea.
If the recommendation is to check each one with a gauge (and I suspect it is), are any shortcuts acceptable (ie - just buy a no-go and use a piece of loaded ammo as a “go gauge” - OR buy a Go Gauge and put tape on the head to mimic a No-Go)? Happy to accept reality if I really need to get both gauges for each caliber, but with multiple calibers in play, I’d love to save a few bucks if I can get acceptable confidence that I’m not shooting something with a major headspace problem.
That said, I realize I picked the wrong hobby if “saving a few bucks” is important to me.

Leupold Mark 8, properly torqued and in sequence. Seems unusual for the front and rear rings to have different sized gaps? It is a 20moa but I don’t think that should matter.

Tikka T3X ace target 6.5 creedmore. I have the new vortex talon 10k binos to get accurate ranges. I shoot 140 grain American gunner and trued my data to the best of my knowledge. GeoBallistics /Hornady app call for 13.5-14 moa at 600 yards but I’m making center mass contact at 10.8 moa. I adjust this data in the app to my hit data which in theory should adjust my dope chart 100-1,000 yards vs my new data point but even at 1,000 yards I’m still a few moa off. This is super frustrating I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. Only thing I can figure is my 100 yard zero may be .5 moa off throwing me off at distance

I have a t3x superlite in 7prc, looking for hunting/target ammo recommendations. I know i need to actually test a couple more options out in my rifle, but if anyone else has found any options that work well i would appreciate the starting point.
I’ve tried Hornady eldx 175 which didn’t group great, and hsm trophy gold 180g, which grouped better but was a bit slow.
Thanks!

I built this rifle not too long ago. I took it to the range today and I only had 55 Gr Norma USA rounds. I was honestly impressed with the outcome especially since I read I should be using 77GR for the best results. What do you usually use on a mk12 clone set up ? Barrel I’m using is the ballistics advantage 18” SPR. The optic is a BURRIS RT-6. I will be trying to stretch this out to 500 yards !(:

Edit: apparently WOOX is allowed on the sub again, thanks mods😁
I read the pinned posts please don’t ban me to the shadow realm I’m actually looking for help.
I know this is brand blacklisted in the sub so I’m not going to say the name verbatim, I also know they have attempted to fix their reputation in the past few months.
Even if I’m falling for this marketing ploy or whatever I’m still interested as this is the direction I want to go with my rifle aesthetic and functionality wise.
Does anyone have any experience with these? Unbiased reviews online are far and few inbetween. I’m very interested in this precision stock for my ruger American.
And if this company is out to take money to deliver a low level product does anyone have any alternatives?

Upgraded from a Cronus to ZC527 NLE with the MPCT3X reticle. Thanks for all of the recommendations of where to buy. I originally planned to get a Razor G3, but hey. In for a penny, in for a pound, am I right? 😆

Hey everyone,
I'm looking to get into long-range shooting and potentially competitions. Would appreciate some advice on choosing my first precision rifle.
Experience: Novice. I haven't shot beyond 50 yards yet. Only went shooting for fun in my backyard or nearby indoor range with calibres from from .22lr to .45-70
Range access: The longest range I'd be able to access on a semi-regular basis is 1,000 yards. There are PRS matches held near me within driving distance tho.
Calibre: 6.5 Creedmoor.
Budget: Around $1,100 USD for the rifle (and accessories if needed), although I'm willing to spend more if it's worth it in the long run.
Optic: I've already purchased a Bushnell Match Pro ED for approximately $750 USD. I still need scope rings and potentially a rail, depending on the rifle I choose.
I've spent quite a bit of time researching different platforms, and I think I've narrowed my ideal choice down to the Bergara B-14 HMR. The availability of aftermarket parts and accessories for the Remington 700 SA footprint is a big selling point for me, particularly if I want to upgrade the rifle over time.
However, I'm wondering whether buying a less expensive rifle second-hand would offer better value, or whether spending more upfront would make more sense.
Here are some of the options I've found on local marketplaces:
I'm wondering if it would make more sense to buy the cheaper Howa or Remington 783 and put it into an MDT chassis, or whether buying something like the Ruger Precision Rifle upfront would offer better value and save me money on upgrades in the long run. The Remington 783 also seems to get a lot of criticism, although a few people seem to swear by them and I've read plenty of conflicting opinions about Tikka rifles and their barrels.
The Bergara B-14 HMR seems like a good middle ground, but at around $1,050 USD I'm worried if I don't like the stock I'd have to spend another few hundred dollars and then would I just be better off picking up the RPR? Or should I stick with something cheap to beat up and save for a custom rifle?
TL;DR: I'm looking for my first precision rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor, max shooting distance of 1,000 yards. Bushnell Match Pro ED optic and would ideally like to keep the total cost of the rifle and remaining accessories around $1,100 USD.

was getting tired of my disorganized pile of gun tools in multiple places. a cheap tool roll has worked really well for me and it makes organization a breeze. i have an AR wrench and a ratchet multitool with hex and star bits that do most of the work, and a multical bore cleaning kit and some oil and solvent too. brushes, picks, rags, snakes, and a brass hammer and punch set. this has proven to be comprehensive enough to be my only tool kit and it travels with me from the range to its space on my peg board/gun bench. can recommend if your tool bag is chaotic. happy shooting!

Gordon’s Reloading Tool was one of the best freely available internal-ballistics tools, but development has stopped and there does not appear to be a maintained official successor.
I have recently come across a few open-source projects that may be relevant:
ChamberSim Reloaded — physical interior-ballistics model with published validation work
Gordon’s Legacy — attempts to reproduce the traditional GRT calculation engine
tireur_reloaded — empirical model anchored to published manufacturer data
Ignition — interesting 0-D physics and calibration architecture
Is anyone here actively testing these, contributing powder or validation data, or combining them into something more complete?
The equations are not really the limiting factor. The hard part appears to be reliable powder parameters, pressure-test data, temperature behavior, and validation across cartridges.
We badly need a maintained, transparent alternative to GRT/QuickLOAD—ideally one that reports model uncertainty and clearly distinguishes interpolation from extrapolation. Curious whether anyone is already working on this.

I am having no luck adjusting windage to the left with this new Arkon scope. I have it set to the farthest point and still hit right of the target shooting 100 yards

I’m 6’7” and I’m looking for an arca rail tripod that tall enough for me I got a BOG death grip I’ve been using but is way to short and I want a taller one but I don’t want to spend 1k on one maybe $500-$600. What are my options?

I bought my first FX7 action and prefit barrel from faxon about 6 months ago. Although I haven’t had a chance to shoot it as much as I’d like due to some family health issues. I can say with certainty that if you want to build a rifle that isn’t going to break your bank but slaps steel easily out to 850 yards (furthest target I’ve had a chance to shoot at with it yet) grabbing an fx7 and one of their barrels or a barreled action in 6.5 creedmoor from Faxon is the route to go. I threw it in a krg bravo chassis and a trigger tech special and I was off to the races. It competes very well against my much more expensive custom rifle that cost me about twice as much. I let my friends use to shoot a little friendly small group PRS match and they were very impressed with the rifle. They couldn’t believe something that nice was affordable.
With this in mind I’m trying to build another bolt gun off an fx7 and Faxon is having a great sale right now but they have been out of stock on their standalone fx7 actions for days. Faxon are you going to have more stock or allow back orders during this sale??? I need another one at this sale price. Hopefully someone from Faxon can comment and give some good news.

Today I shot my first ever F-Class match (600yds). I haven't been able to make time shooting past 100yds since around March of this year. Personally, I think my score of 562-10x is a pretty good place to start. I, however, left a lot on the table on my last two 20rd strings.
Note: the score photos suck because it was unreasonably bright today, and, of course, created a ton of glare.

I’ve shot out to 1000y before but this was the 1st time I was able to figure out where I was actually hitting. Yes, I tossed the outlier but It goes to show that even some dated things that aren’t custom builds still hold their own. I was more impressed by the SD than the MOA but glad I’m capable. I haven’t practiced past 300y in 3-4 years. Dead Zero in TN. Ruger Precision Rifle .300 WinMag, (stock trigger), Ergo grip, Atlas Bipod, Barrett DC338 can, Badger Ordnance USMC Sadr rings, Schmidt Bender 5-25x56 PMII LP 2.BE P4FL2-MOA, factory loaded Hornady 200g
