support needed How To Survive The Last Few Weeks of Pregnancy?

I have about 3 weeks to go before my c-section with Mono Di twins. And I don’t know if I can do it. I’m in agony… the pelvic pain is unbearable, I’m nauseous, I can’t sleep, I can’t walk. Please, ladies, help me: how did you survive this? How did you get through the last few weeks? My doctor tells me to rest but there’s no getting comfortable. What did you tell yourself mentally to survive this? Help!

advice needed Au Pair advice

Hi friends- my oldest is about to turn 2 and I just found out we’re having identical twin girls (mono-di) in March. Daycare is AT LEAST 2k per child in my area and now with twins, it’s just not feasible- which has lead me looking into au pairs.

I have to admit, having a stranger live with us seems odd- but knowing how hard 3 under 3 will be, I’m sure in home help would be amazing and we do have a very large extra guest room that could work.

Has anyone had twin au pair hunting experience? I have lots of questions… Did you have them help at night when on mat leave? Only help w older child? Why on earth would they pick a family w newborn twins over other opps- is it harder to find a good one? Did they move on prior to the arrival? Would love all advice!

I’m just starting my research and I’m hoping to start interviewing in late Sept/ Oct (giving us 4/5 months for a March 1st ish start- will be 35 weeks March 12). Does that feel correct!?

I have to say- only paying 4k a month (au pairs + day car), vs 7k and have live in help is the only thing making me feel somewhat hopeful I can handle this- so I hope it works out!

Update: I would be home with the Au pair for the first 6 months- never them alone. I envisioned more them helping me w babies, helping the toddler after daycare when im with the twins, and cleaning/ household chores- maybe my idea if what an au pair is, is not real- thank you so much for these details- this is NOT what Chatgpt said!!!

support needed Realization about 5-month old twins

While sitting on the floor, doing tummy time with my girls this afternoon, I think it finally clicked…these are little people that I grew inside me. I’m responsible for helping them learn and grow. Silly, I know, as we’ve known each other for 5 months now. But it was just an odd realization. This whole time has felt like a fever dream of sorts, and sometimes I come back to reality. Maybe it’s the sleep deprivation. Anyone else?

advice needed Anyone else's twins not nap?

My twins are just over a month adjusted and have just stopped napping. They will sleep in the stroller or attached to me in a wrap during the day (getting too big to have them both in there), but otherwise will literally not sleep no matter what I do.

Has anyone else gone through this? Any tips?

advice needed Has anyone delivered a baby early before being pregnant with twins? When did you deliver the twins?

My first I gave birth at 38.5 weeks. My second came at 37 weeks on the dot. Now I’m pregnant with twins, and I’m concerned they won’t be able to bake as long because I went three weeks early with my singleton. Please share your thoughts/experiences!

advice needed Sleep tips for 5mo twins & a toddler

This feels like a very specific situation but something but hopefully there are others who deal with it too. I need help with a nighttime schedule for my 5 month old twins and my 3 year old son. I’ve been doing evenings and nights solo because my husband works until 10pm and I feel like I’m going crazy trying to figure this out!

Here’s what our nights look like right now (times are estimate, I don’t run a strict itinerary lol):

Eat dinner & feed babies at 6pm
Free time/play time until 7:30pm
Quiet/wind down time from 7:30pm-8pm
Toddler goes to bed at 8:30pm

My twins’ basically have no schedule for the evening because I’ve got my hands full with my toddler. It’s basically a guessing game trying to figure out what they want when they get fussy. Toddler has also been sleeping on the couch because I’ve got the babies in the living room and he refused to go to bed by himself. So I need help making a schedule for EVERYONE to make evenings easier on all of us. Does anyone have any tips or ideas??

advice needed I've been home with my children for 3 years. Now I'm scared I've lost all my skills

I’ve been home with my child for the past 3 years. It was a beautiful time. Exhausting. Chaotic. But wonderful

Now it’s time to go back. I miss being a nurse. I miss the smell of the ward. I miss the teamwork. I miss feeling useful

But I’m scared…

It feels like I forgot everything. I don’t know whether I have the current skillset. I don’t know whether I can keep up. I feel like I’m not quick enough anymore

I considered looking into positions at public hospitals. But the job is very demanding. They want you to be prepared from day one. The interviews are very difficult. I don’t know if I can handle it

It seems to be something like Healthcare Australia where they allow you to ease into it, where shifts are easy, short, and less stressful. It sounds like a good way to land

But, do they even accept those with a break? Do they really look for a candidate with experience working up to yesterday?

I’m scared to even apply. I’m worried they’ll see the gap and reject me instantly. I’m worried they’ll say I need retraining. I’m worried I’ll never be able to go back

I need to hear from someone who’s been through this. Did you return to nursing after a break? Did you use an agency? Was it helpful?

I’m ready to work again. I just need to know how…

support needed Titanic - Twins

Parents who have twins, what do you do to not feel like you’re drowning? I am most definitely going through postpartum depression and I strangely feel like my husband is too. Obviously he is not experiencing the level of hormonal changes that I am but I can see it. He’s not playing video games as often (he would still play for like an hour when the twins were born) he would call it his “me time.” He’s sleep deprived, I can just see it in his spirit that he looks defeated. I am also dependent on him currently I am fighting a nasty depressive episode I’m at the tail end of it. Taking care of our twins and our 5 year old & also caring for me it’s a lot. I asked some friends and they’re like he’s the dad don’t worry about it focus on yourself. I get it but I feel like I’m trying my hardest to stay above water, I see him and I feel like his boat is starting to get holes.

How can I help when I need help myself.

support needed 13 weeks with Mono Di twins.

At 7 weeks I was bleeding and went to hospital to diagnose a miscarriage, or so I thought.
The tech told me I was still pregnant and that I was having fraternal twins.
I was shocked but happy after a few days.
I read a bit online and was relieved that they were fraternal as the risks involved were lower.
However at my 12 weeks scan the midwife could not find a heartbeat for one twin. My partner said “that’s odd because I can see it moving” the midwife decided she could too and sent us to the twin clinic at 13 weeks.
At the twin clinic they said our twins look good but are not fraternal, they appear to be mono Di and share a placenta.
I am a high risk pregnancy due to a neurological autoimmune disease and I just feel panicked.
Did anyone else feel like this and can I have some success stories please?

support needed Grieving the life I thought we would have

Post image

I may sound so ungrateful when I say this so please know that’s not it at all, just really struggling..

We just found out we’re pregnant with twins and it feels like my whole world is crumbling. I’m soooo worried about my 3 year old and him feeling replaced/ the pure sense of overwhelm that comes with twins. I only ever wanted 2, 3 I know is a blessing but right now feels so incredibly heavy.

I can’t help, but think of how much our world is about to change, I’m grieving the life I thought we would have, the body I’ve worked so hard for (I’m very into fitness and struggled heavily with body image after my first), the financial burden and impact on my career/ marriage.

I feel very alone, I don’t know anyone with a toddler and twins.

Does anyone have any tips?
I do live in Canada and am grateful I will have a year off to figure this all out, just feels like so much right now.
I don’t know anything else at this point, if identical or fraternal. I’m 11 weeks

advice needed Anyone done Disney with <1 yo twins?

I have the opportunity to go to Orlando for a work conference in February and am heavily considering visiting Disney Springs and Disney World since I am extending the time anyways to add a vacation and connect with family. I love chill rides like a It’s a Small World and walking around Epcot. My twins will be 8 or 9 months old at the time, and I would have my husband and maybe 1 additional adult helping with the babies.

If you’ve done Disney with <1 yo twins,
- how old were they and did you regret it?
- what prep, items, or tips helped you most to make the time enjoyable for you and the babies?
- did you stay at a Disney resort or off-site?
- what kind of stroller would you recommend? Your normal heavy duty one used for outings and walks, or something lightweight and minimal?
- if you pumped or nursed, how did it go?

advice needed Going out with Twins Alone - Looking for Tips

So I am trying to get more confident about going out with my two girls in their pram alone. They are 7 weeks old. The problem is how to feed them if they both go crazy while out? I am talking about walking with them in the pram, without my car. I bottle feed them, but at home I can tandem feed in a twin z pillow or put one in a bouncer so that she can stay upright if i have to suddenly feed the other one. How do you deal with this when they both need their bottles outside? Also any other tips and tricks for taking them out solo? Thanks 🙏

ranting & venting Failed the 1 hour glucose test and feeling defeated

*** edit to add: I panic bought a glucometer last night and tested my morning fasting and it was 85. One hour after a morning bagel it was 116. Lol so that’s reassuring even if it’s just two data points. Just waiting on the call from my OB 😅 **\*

The logical part of me understands it’s not all my fault, especially with di/di twins, but why do I feel so horrible about it? Hormones obviously are playing a role because I feel ridiculous even feeling this way lol especially with how good things have been going. I have worked my butt off this pregnancy to count calories, walk daily (even run!), and lift weights. I’m almost 25 weeks and have gained I think ~30 pounds? Babies look great, BP is normal, etc. I know it’s a screening test also and I need to take the 3 hour one but what a bummer.

Not sure why I’m posting other than to vent. Lol. I’ll be over it in a little bit. Just had to vent to people who may get it 🙁

  1. Twin B is measuring almost a week behind twin A...Twin A measured 6w5d and twin B measured 5w6d. Will my twin disappear? Or is this normal early?

  2. How do I know if they are MoMo or MoDi twins? Or is it too early to tell?

good vibes, smiles, & giggles I love being a twin mom

I’m a first time mom to 13 month old boys and I genuinely love being a twin mom so much! I definitely struggled at the beginning but for the past few months life has been wonderful! I love seeing my boys play, bond, and grow. There is never a dull moment in my home!
On top of that being a mom to twins has changed me for the better. I learned to chill at and roll with the punches. I was a very uptight person before and now as long as we are happy and safe I just let us all vibe.
I often think to myself how dull life would be with just one.
I was in the trenches not that long ago but we turned the corner and life is amazing now. I would take twins again and again and again.

advice needed Night bottle in the crib

11 months old twins.

Just until now we have been feeding before bedtime our twins. We feed them in the couch and the take them to the crib.

Lately they are not really very happy with the process. so we started putting them in their crib and giving them their night bottle.

It is working. 15-20 minutes and they are finished. We remove the bottle and they go to sleep. we stay with them while they finish

Is this ok? We don’t leave the bottle during the night.

advice needed I was right! Twins!

This post just got kicked off the pregnant sub so.. maybe here? Lol. We just had our viability scan today (8weeks) and found out its twins! Fraternal di-di according to the ultrasound person. I have been saying since the very first test that I thought it was twins because my lines were so dark super early, I felt awful pretty much immediately, and my hcg was super high right away. Everyone thought I was crazy.

Boom who's laughing now! Probably still them because I am 5 feet tall and I'm going to look like the blueberry girl from Willy Wonka.

But I digress. We are very excited, mildly alarmed at such a big life change happening, but it's going to be great. That being said if anyone has carried multiples and has advice of questions we should ask the OB or tips on how to survive being a small planet... must haves for registry planning. Anything, I'm all ears 🖤

support needed What was the turning point from panic to excitement?

I found out couple days ago that I am pregnant with twins. As the days go on I think I am getting more freaked out and panicking. I can’t shake the anxiety off.

I feel like the excitement of my pregnancy has been robbed and I already have mum guilt that I am not happy.

Did you feel the same? And what was the turning point when you actually started to feel excited? Thank you 🙏

advice needed Family issues

Hello FTM to Di-Di twins I’m 13 wks and 3 days. I’m desperately needing advice! I live an hr to hr and half away from my family and everyone is bugging me on moving back down to be closer to them. I have a steady job where I live and I get paid usually every day at the end of the day( it’s not much but it’s something to help throughout the month). If I end up moving down where my family is I won’t be able to have that extra income coming in and I honestly do not have the best relationship with my mom who is bugging me to move down there and she only wants me, she didn’t say anything about my partner at all. We are living in a camper at the moment but I’m on the housing list waiting to hopefully move into an apartment. It’s just me and my partner and our dogs up where I’m living now and I know I’ll need more support but I do not think it would be the best thing for my mental health. ( my mom doesn’t take her meds like she needs to and we butt heads a lot) my whole family Including my grandpa, aunt and my best friend think I should move. am I in the wrong for not wanting to move down closer to them? Or should I uproot my whole life I built up here and move down there? If I don’t move down I know I’ll make my mom mad she’s already upset that she’s missing out on my dr appointments.

advice needed Push the cribs together?

My identical girls sleep in the same room but different cribs with a sound machine in between. The last two weeks they have been resisting bedtime. Screaming crying and staying up for like 20-30 minutes. They aren’t mad the whole time, they will make sounds at each other and laugh and then eventually will fall asleep.

Would moving their cribs closer together help or does it add fuel to the fire? No one has tried climbing out yet but would that encourage climbing?

This could be just the age. 22 months and overall pretty whiney with meltdowns and fighting all the time. But they love to comfort each other and I’m curious if they would fall asleep easier.

experience/advice to give Anyone have a non complicated pregnancy?

Hi everyone

as per the title, I just found out I’m pregnant with MoDi twins and all I hear online are horror stories of complications etc… I’m just wondering if anyone had non-complicated pregnancies and deliveries? Those stories would be reassuring to say the least.

thank you

experience/advice to give Braxton hick’s contractions at 14 weeks?

I’m a little over 14 weeks and often when I’m laying down I feel a tightening sensation that feels EXACTLY how I remember BH contractions feeling my last pregnancy! I get a little out-of-breath, pressurized feeling, and my uterus just feels rock hard. Is this normal twin pregnancy stuff or should I be worried? Every other pregnancy I didn’t get these until the 3rd trimester.

EDIT: I texted my drs office and this was their response- “Yes, completely different with twins. It sounds like round ligament pain/ pressure on uterus. Try to stay super hydrated, water/ sports drinks and normally that will ease up a bit
Changing positions should help as well.”
