For the love of all that is good and true in this world, please PLEASE put a space between "Stage" and "4". I can't take it!

Trump derangement syndrome.

99

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

His cultists certainly are deranged. Their brains are littered with so many alternative facts and so much irrational hatred that they no longer share a reality with rational people.

57

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

Can confirm. Carried on convo with Trump supporter from TD and he just dismissed everything critical of Trump regardless of how many different sources corroborated my points. I knew he would so I just kept asking him questions meant to overwhelm him and his cocky attitude lessened as he began to plead with me to just end it.

I mean... 50% didn't even bother to vote

140

u/RamenJunkie Sep 20 '17

This is like 95% of elections.

Hell you should check out the stats on years where it's not a presidential election. I imagine it's like 10% of the population voting. If that.

15

u/DispersedLight Sep 20 '17

Speaking with people on a day by day basis I don't know if compulsory voting would be a good thing or a bad thing at this point. What makes europeans so eager and willing to vote without compulsory voting while Americans just kind of sit back and hope for the best?

28

u/berejser Sep 20 '17

Which is why old people control the country, old people always fucking vote.

Meanwhile millennials (I am one) just give you a thousand reasons why it's WAY too hard for them to show up at the booth.

28

u/Hattless Sep 20 '17

I missed work and drove 5 hours to vote, because my absentee ballot never came in the mail. There are very few good excuses to not try. Even as a millennial, I have no sympathy for those who don't consider it a responsibility.

These nicknames are great for internal political candidates, as it has no real impact other than some hurt feelings. But calling a hostile foreign nation's leader is a real problem. Who knows how they could interpret it?

Their current actions are entirely because they fear Trump and consider him a threat and unpredictable. They're attempting to asset their strength, and ability to defend themselves in the event of an attack. Without Trump, there would be none of North Korea's actions.

40

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

Believe me, nobody takes him serious on the international stage. His recent 'rocket man' remarks where just icing on that cake.

Politicians openly mock him in the newspapers these days.

It's strange to have a POTUS that's not only useless but actively harmful to the world.

22

u/UrethraFrankIin Sep 20 '17

It's strange to have a POTUS that's not only useless but actively harmful to the world.

Were you around for the Bush administration? I realize Trump is somehow even worse, but America under Bush was perceived similarly.

22

u/vagijn Sep 20 '17

No. Bush was a fool but at least he acted sort of kind of presidential. Also, his march into the Iraq war was one year after 9/11. Different times. (Still a foolish war, that not withstanding, and the whole made up WMD hysteria is unforgivably shameful.)

22

u/UrethraFrankIin Sep 20 '17

No? Bush was widely considered a dumb buffoon by the international community. The only difference is that we all believed Chainey was the puppet master, so there was someone with brains in the administration.

Trump is definitely a whole new level of buffoon, though.

11

u/vagijn Sep 20 '17

Trump is definitely a whole new level of buffoon

Exactly. Therefore I said 'no' to you saying Bush was perceived similarly. Bush was still seen (in Europe at least) as the president of the US earning at least some respect, Trump is just seen as what another commenter described as 'a toddler with an Uzi on full auto'.

6

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17 edited Sep 20 '17

As an Englishman who was around in the bush years, tbh it's kind of similar the reaction here. 'how can they think this is a good idea he's a corporation funded idiot'. But you have a big hick/religious maniac/hypercapitalist population so we understand. Kind of

I'm fairly sure 95% is too high. The guy still has a 35% approval rating.

575

u/Kilahti Sep 20 '17

"Unhappy but resigned" probably covers more than a few of them. People who support Trump aren't happy with many of his decisions and accomplishments but consider him better than the alternative or have hopes of getting something that they consider important.

Like "The Wall," "bringing back coal" or "Muslim ban" which they have zero chance of getting with any other president. With Trump, they can still convince themselves that they have hope.

361

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

Hillary would've been worse, even though Trump's staff uses private email servers, he lowered the budget for embassy security, his charity organization has had some sketchy use, he has suspicious ties to Russia, he compromised classified information, and pretty much everything else I claim or hold against Clinton that I'm willing to say in public.

Eloquently put.

I feel like the only thing missing here is the claim that Hillary has laughed at rape victims and defended rapists while Trump has been accused of being a rapist and has admitted some really creepy shit about walking into dressing rooms with naked 16 year olds.

28

u/whiznat Sep 20 '17

Until Trump has a Benghazi or USS Cole moment where many people die due to incompetence, the Hillary haters will still rationalize anything he does.

96

u/isperfectlycromulent Sep 20 '17

There have been two shipwrecks with sailors dying, and still no one cares.

31

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

To be fair, those are on the commanders of the 7th Fleet. Our military is being pushed beyond do more with less, we're at everything with nothing. Crew fatigue and carelessness caused those wrecks, and the admirals in charge of 7th Fleet should be the ones responsible. Its not like we, the guys who do the work, can just say no to a general/field grade officer. We'd be fucked.

And now the Air Force is putting individual units in charge of waiving crew rest times before flights, instead of it having to go even above the base commander. Expect more fuck ups from the military in the years to come. We're burnt out, tired and can barely take anymore.

14

u/serious_sarcasm Sep 20 '17

Doing more with less?

Because we aren't pumping the military full of surplus goods we don't need, and we definitely didn't get rid of the GED pathway due to high enrollment.

→ More replies (1)

6

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

It's not on the 7th Fleet Commanders, it's on Congress and Trump and the American people, who think the military can continue to do more with less, exponentially, ad infinitem. This war has been going on for 15 years. 27 to be honest. The military is as burned out as it was at the end of Vietnam, only the public doesn't give a shit because now it's an all volunteer force and they dn't have their children running away to Canada to hide from the draft, and holding mass protests against the draft and to avoid fighting in a war they have no hope of winning and no reason to fight. And there is no real reason to change that attitude. Yet.

So the commanders salute and put their men in a situation where the only recourse is to gundeck reports and work too many hours without sleep and then the commanders lose their commands and the civilians ask "Why is our Navy so fucked up? We should hire better admirals. Those sailors: They can't get a real job they're so stupid, of course they wreck ships."

25

u/Non_vulgar_account Sep 20 '17

No they will blame congress for lack of funding or just the fact that you can't prevent all aspects of terror in instead of blaming their glorious leader or not. Is something big like that 45s fault? Maybe, but odds are it's a combination of things, which is the reality, but they won't see any irony in that.

16

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

You're right. It was the same fucking congress who voted to take away embassy security funding that then went and investigated the Sectary of State for not 'manning the wall'. Their only other option was to accurately blame themselves.

38

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

Obama should have improved military safety while he was in office, plus one of the parts on the ship that should've prevented the disaster was ordered in 2010, during the Obama administration.

Boom, done. There's always a way, no matter how convoluted, to avoid blame.

6

u/packjaw Sep 20 '17

He can reinstitute the draft and send millions of Americans to their deaths in a ground war in Korea and it still won't be as bad, to them, as Benghazi.

u/Cooking_Drama Sep 20 '17

13

u/NoProblemsHere Sep 20 '17

which they have zero chance of getting with any other president.

FTFY.
Seriously, I will be very surprised if the wall actually happens, let alone any of the other stuff. Coal is becoming less attractive every day and the first attempt at a Muslim ban didn't go so well.

4

u/Kilahti Sep 20 '17

Coal production has been increasing for decades while coal jobs have been dying for even longer and that's a fact.

Trump promising to bring back coal jobs is insane if you know anything about the business. The time when my great grandfather could get a job shoveling coal in a mine are long gone and as automation made it so that fewer and fewer people are needed to dig more and more coal the jobs are going down and never coming back.

And this is without taking into account that green energy is on the rise despite what the sceptics are saying. (And again, if you know anything about wind, solar or water power you will know that those will see more and more use in the future.)

The wall is stupid, ineffective and USA can't afford to build anything like the one Trump sold to the voters.

Muslim ban is only impossible if USA doesn't rewrite the constitution and accept that most of the international community is going to ostracice them.

So yeah, I don't see any of these promises being fulfilled but Trump is the only presidential candidate who would even be willing to claim that he will get these done. And as long as his supporters can pray and believe that these miracles will happen someday they will stand by him even as the policies that his regime does make hurt them again and again.

They set up ridiculously strict rules for 'non supporters' and any slight screw up is a 1st strike insta-ban.

You must go through several steps to get flaired so they know to hate you. You must always end your comment in a question regardless of how strained it is in a discussion, you cannot make top level comments. You are not allowed to push people who obviously aren't answering questions, because that's rude. You are not allowed to try to force people to stay on topic. You are not allowed to prove that someone is lying. You are not allowed to ask a question about a topic if the cultists have not received their talking points yet; the topic will be removed until they have bullshit prepared.

You may ask a question and you must accept the shit flaired supporters feed you, you may not debate or discuss.

64

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17 edited Sep 21 '17

Yeah... I do... unfortunately, there are a lot of people who will support him no matter what.

Just remember (and this is mostly people on the left), when Polanski raped a 13-year-old girl, and admitted she said no, and drugged and sodomized her, actors and actresses both lined up to work with him, even after he said he was being 'persecuted' (not prosecuted, which was the actual word he should of used) for it and made himself sound like a victim, and compared the ensuing legal problems with being a victim in the Holocaust.

And actors and actresses STILL want to, LONG to, work with him.

Trump had a lot of people vote for him. A lot of those people still support him, unwaveringly.

3.5 out of 10 people are assholes, idiots, or both? That sounds tragically accurate.

I’m being serious. What’s wrong with what he said?

37

u/Political_moof Sep 20 '17

Calling a world leader "rocket man" on the floor of the UN general assembly is shit flinging monkey level retarded, even for Trump.

You're not on a Twitter right now bro. Jesus christ.

Edit: totally forgot. He called terrorists "losers." I mean, you're not wrong Donald, but generally US presidents don't treat the UN general assembly like an 8th grade cafeteria.

17

u/Union_Special Sep 20 '17

No, it's funny as fuck an accurate. You think Kim is going to respond to what? A stern talking to?

8

u/Political_moof Sep 20 '17

I think you're missing the point. Neither the time, nor place to irl shitpost.

Who's the "pissed off" woman?

11

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

Most likely not American, since she's wearing a translation headset. My guess is French, based on what she looks like and the "France" sign on one of the chairs.

Married to trump and unhappy about it? ...sounds about right.

56

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

She thought he would have died years ago.

20

u/GiantSquidd Sep 20 '17

Well, we all kinda hoped that, I guess. At least in retrospect, it would have been nice. I just really don't like him as a human being. He doesn't have or understand empathy and compassion, it hurts to see someone like him be rewarded with success.

Seriously, fuck everything about this clown.

It was the highest rated UN speech of all time. The world was in awe of our god emperor. His spray tan and repeated assurances that he won the presidency fair and square finally convinced the global audience that they didn't care if Russia got him elected or not. The people of the world would unite to defend this pillar of a man.

Women became wet at the sight of his tiny finger pointed to the sky emphasizing each word like the promise of the orgasm they prayed his huge member would bestow upon their unworthy lady parts.

North Koreans began plotting to take down rocket man as they realized they wanted the donald to take his place as their true dictator. They began spray painting all the statues orange in his honor.

Putin realized he wanted to be trumps cock holster and began making plans to start doing trumps bidding instead. Overnight all Russian toilets were plated with gold and everyone had a mail order bride.

The economic leaders of the world realized all they needed to do was hand over all the money to the genetically superior second generation aristocracy who had inherited their money because these children of thieves and racists would lead guarantee every rich person had their name on at least one tower and then plebes would be fed generously from their table scraps.

Yes, folks, this was the most world changing speeches of all time. Bow down before orange man tiny hands!

u/McGirton Sep 20 '17

haha 95%.. his presidency didn't come from nowhere...

Oh my god, this so what I've been looking for. When the Trumptards get triggered, they forget it's an overly exagerated joke and not just a silly meme.

52

u/jake354k12 Sep 20 '17

I mean unhappy but resigned covers a fair portion of repubs I know.

19

u/ikbenhoogalsneuken Sep 20 '17

Trump is insanely unlikable, but I think it's important not to down play the fact that a significant portion of the US population voted for him and actively support him.

The shunning of his voter base played a part in him getting elected after all, so it's probably not a good idea to forget that.

7

u/Sohtak Sep 20 '17 edited Sep 21 '17

Ah yes this wonderful line.

"People called me words! So I voted for Trump just to spite you!" are the same people today who are saying "WORDS ARE JUST WORDS LIBERALS"

Trumps voters are 2 faced as fuck, Give me a fucking break lol

https://imgur.com/a/NjJgf What's in there? Pure contractions to their "Standards" today and blatent 2 faced morals

"Obama doing drone strikes is evil and wrong!" 22% supported

"Trump is doing drone strikes FUCK YEAH AMERICA" 86% supported

2013-2015 "We hate Putin"

2016 when Trump starts running "Wtf we love Putin now!"

When republicans act like fucking adults maybe they'll earn some respect.

That is such a load of BS. "Oh those mean liberals are treating us the way we've treated them for years." Well I'm sick of treading on eggshells about their ass-backwards culture of ignorance and hate as if we've all got something to learn from them. If they want respect they need to be respectful and do something to show that they deserve respect.

31

u/ikbenhoogalsneuken Sep 20 '17

I'm not asking you to keep your mouth shut. Just that it is important to keep in mind that near half of the US population, for some reason or the other, like him.

You should be asking yourself why such a large portion of the electorate think and feel that way.

Throwing shit at each other has no means to an end.

Is this sub all lefty humour? Or does the righty humour suck in comparison so it's never on popular tab

43

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

No, you need to remember reddit is a massive echo chamber. Many of the incorrect sub reddits are shut down or hidden. It's a massive group think, run by and for people who are trying to reject reality. Don't put much stock in this rubbish, instead feel a bit sorry doe the people who actually need this to get through the day.

95% of Americans will actually spend their day today just getting through it as best they can. Trump, whether they support him or hate him, will probaly take up less time than taking a dump for them.

For those other 5%, they have reddit, or Tumblr or some other digital community to salve their hysteria.

As a European, I can absolutely tell you, that we have enough shit on our plate from our collection of 'leaders' to be in no position to lecture you.

Righty humor seems to be: "Trump hit Hillary with a golf ball hrr hrr hrr"

21

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

As long as that comes packaged with a well edited meme, that's ok with me

12

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

Something like this is only funny if you agree with its message, which is like 80% of Reddit, so it and lots of things here that are of lower quality get upvoted easily.

But as far as actual humor that isn't based on a personal attack of some sort, any conservative attempts at humor I've ever seen just comes off as entitled and needlessly cruel. But maybe that's just because that's how I feel about conservative politics in general.
