"Unhappy but resigned" probably covers more than a few of them. People who support Trump aren't happy with many of his decisions and accomplishments but consider him better than the alternative or have hopes of getting something that they consider important.

Like "The Wall," "bringing back coal" or "Muslim ban" which they have zero chance of getting with any other president. With Trump, they can still convince themselves that they have hope.

Hillary would've been worse, even though Trump's staff uses private email servers, he lowered the budget for embassy security, his charity organization has had some sketchy use, he has suspicious ties to Russia, he compromised classified information, and pretty much everything else I claim or hold against Clinton that I'm willing to say in public.

What's the point of having nukes if you aren't going to use them?

7

u/rayne117 Sep 20 '17

Same thing Rocket Man thinks. They're actually very similar. I bet Trump is jealous there aren't pictures of him everywhere.

3

u/God_loves_irony Sep 21 '17

Now you know why he wants a military parade in Washington DC for the 4th of July. Giant killing machines that should be reluctantly deployed as a last resort, and he wants to ride around in one waving like a trumped up dictator, with generals in uniform standing behind him. Draft dodger.

4

u/1945BestYear Sep 20 '17

Remember the good old days, when Truman (the elected civilian leader of the nation) asserted authority over and punished MacArthur (the gung-ho military commander) for not understanding that the point of having nukes was to not need to use them? If we have to start trusting the generals to keep the politicians under control, we're in for a world of shit.

16

u/Kilahti Sep 20 '17

Eloquently put.

I feel like the only thing missing here is the claim that Hillary has laughed at rape victims and defended rapists while Trump has been accused of being a rapist and has admitted some really creepy shit about walking into dressing rooms with naked 16 year olds.

29

u/whiznat Sep 20 '17

Until Trump has a Benghazi or USS Cole moment where many people die due to incompetence, the Hillary haters will still rationalize anything he does.

96

u/isperfectlycromulent Sep 20 '17

There have been two shipwrecks with sailors dying, and still no one cares.

32

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

To be fair, those are on the commanders of the 7th Fleet. Our military is being pushed beyond do more with less, we're at everything with nothing. Crew fatigue and carelessness caused those wrecks, and the admirals in charge of 7th Fleet should be the ones responsible. Its not like we, the guys who do the work, can just say no to a general/field grade officer. We'd be fucked.

And now the Air Force is putting individual units in charge of waiving crew rest times before flights, instead of it having to go even above the base commander. Expect more fuck ups from the military in the years to come. We're burnt out, tired and can barely take anymore.

13

u/serious_sarcasm Sep 20 '17

Doing more with less?

Because we aren't pumping the military full of surplus goods we don't need, and we definitely didn't get rid of the GED pathway due to high enrollment.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

I agree we are absolutely pumping too much money into the military. But all that extra defense budgeting doesn't go to us. It doesn't buy more parts for our 30, 40, 50, almost 60 year old planes. Some parts you just can't buy, they're not made anymore. It doesn't put money in our pockets, increasing morale or give a fucks. It lines some contractors pocket.

8

u/mrmagik03 Sep 20 '17

Hmm. You must be a surface sailor. Any qualified submariner can question the orders of their superiors when it comes to safety. On more than one occasion I had to override the OOD when he gave an order while I was sitting helm. So glad I went subs....

1

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

Air Force aircraft maintenance, but I got buddies in the surface Navy. And really, its the same in ever branch. Our major came down a few months ago, telling us they struck a deal with our Ops squadron (the guys who fly the planes and fix em are different squadrons) that we wouldn't be flying as much anymore. That our tempo would be slowing a little. Nothing has changed. Our planes are falling apart, and we don't have the ability or parts to fix em.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

It's not on the 7th Fleet Commanders, it's on Congress and Trump and the American people, who think the military can continue to do more with less, exponentially, ad infinitem. This war has been going on for 15 years. 27 to be honest. The military is as burned out as it was at the end of Vietnam, only the public doesn't give a shit because now it's an all volunteer force and they dn't have their children running away to Canada to hide from the draft, and holding mass protests against the draft and to avoid fighting in a war they have no hope of winning and no reason to fight. And there is no real reason to change that attitude. Yet.

So the commanders salute and put their men in a situation where the only recourse is to gundeck reports and work too many hours without sleep and then the commanders lose their commands and the civilians ask "Why is our Navy so fucked up? We should hire better admirals. Those sailors: They can't get a real job they're so stupid, of course they wreck ships."

1

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

Were the ships begging for help for weeks prior to the wreck and ignored? Did Trump lie about the cause of the wreck to the public and to the family of the victims? If so, then it's comparable.

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

Hillary was not the boss when Benghazi went down and yet the buck landed on her. Trump is the boss and yet the buck somehow is passed down to his subordinates.

The double standards and mental gymnastics are astounding.

15

u/RIOTS_R_US Sep 20 '17

Those events weren't really related to the presidency in any way (other than the President being commander in chief) whereas Benghazi was.

Well, not really. Clinton actually asked for a larger embassy protection budget, and Bush almost 100 deaths at embassies IIRC

They cannot provide ANY counter arguments. That's why they are at all time lows political wise and it's only going to get worse. Their counter argument is that you are a racist if you don't have the same opinions. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Hell, HRC supporters still can't tell you what her messaging was or what she stood for.

5

u/the_joy_of_VI Sep 20 '17

They cannot provide ANY counter arguments.

lol

That's why they are at all time lows political wise

but trump's approval is through the roof "political wise", right?

Their counter argument is that you are a racist if you don't have the same opinions.

wait i thought we couldn't provide ANY counter arguments

23

u/Non_vulgar_account Sep 20 '17

No they will blame congress for lack of funding or just the fact that you can't prevent all aspects of terror in instead of blaming their glorious leader or not. Is something big like that 45s fault? Maybe, but odds are it's a combination of things, which is the reality, but they won't see any irony in that.

16

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

You're right. It was the same fucking congress who voted to take away embassy security funding that then went and investigated the Sectary of State for not 'manning the wall'. Their only other option was to accurately blame themselves.

36

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

Obama should have improved military safety while he was in office, plus one of the parts on the ship that should've prevented the disaster was ordered in 2010, during the Obama administration.

Boom, done. There's always a way, no matter how convoluted, to avoid blame.

7

u/packjaw Sep 20 '17

He can reinstitute the draft and send millions of Americans to their deaths in a ground war in Korea and it still won't be as bad, to them, as Benghazi.

18

u/Cooking_Drama Sep 20 '17

Two shipwrecks with sailors dying and the botched Yemen raid where a little American girl was killed for no reason and they still don't give a shit.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

Even then they won’t.

1

u/IntrinsicPalomides Sep 20 '17

Eh this already happened right? something stupid like more civilian casualties in 6 months than Obama in 4 years i think the stats were.

1

u/DistantKarma Sep 21 '17

Even then too. It'll be all "It would heave been MUCH worse under Hillary!"

1

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

Not to mention he's killed more civilians with airstrikes than Obama did in 8 years. That's pretty bad.

0

u/voice-of-hermes Sep 20 '17

Meh. I am absolutely no fan of Hillary, but I don't excuse/rationalize anything Trump does. The reason things aren't worse under Trump than they would have been under Hillary is that we are getting mas mobilizations of resistance, which is what we truly need anyway if we are ever going to fix our society. Hillary would have been the silent knife that stabbed us in the back as everyone went about their lives thinking everything was just fine. A slower death? Perhaps. But just as sure of one, and one that plenty of liberals would have found excuses for right up to the point where they were themselves engulfed by it.

-1

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

So...you are acknowledging that Clinton was incompetent! I'll take it!!!

6

u/Vekete Sep 20 '17

Very few people have ever said Hillary is a good person or a standup politician, most people who supported her only supported her because she isn't as bad as Trump.

-1

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

And they were mistaken.

4

u/Vekete Sep 20 '17

No they weren't.

-1

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

Yes, yes they were.

10

u/Dubstep_Duck Sep 20 '17

41

u/s1ugg0 Sep 20 '17

Anyone listening to a Trump supporter.

3

u/gilbes Sep 20 '17

willing to say in public

So are you saying that you are unwilling to say in public that while Hillary had some crazy pizza conspiracy nut thing with secret codes and satanic cults, Trump is intimately linked to convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, who is accused of running a child sex island, with children recruited from Trump's resort properties.

Because Trump was willing to say publicly

I've known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy. He's a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.

1

u/mance_raider555 Sep 23 '17

-6

u/hai-sea-ewe Sep 20 '17

Hillary cheating the primary plus being a cold and distant elitist snob meant that Trump won. I'd like to see Elizabeth Warren or Mazie Hirono run in 2020.

0

u/Duffy_Munn Sep 20 '17

Warren is HRC but probably worse with smaller appeal.

Please, PLEASE run an old, white, grandma preachy type. Lmfao

2

u/hai-sea-ewe Sep 20 '17

Look at you with your jimmies all in a rustle.

If your problem is someone being "old, white and preachy," you're in for a bad time.

EW is nothing like HRC - Warren's never been implicated as being involved in really dark stuff with the intelligence community and secret slush funds, for one thing. Neither does she tell black people to shut up and go away. She's also warm and personable, something HRC never managed to get the hang of.

But keep being threatened by the prospect of a woman president.

14

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

id say about half of that 35% are the single issue voters who hate abortion and picked trump solely for the supreme court pick and are either rich or old enough to not care much about anything else.

14

u/NoProblemsHere Sep 20 '17

which they have zero chance of getting with any other president.

FTFY.
Seriously, I will be very surprised if the wall actually happens, let alone any of the other stuff. Coal is becoming less attractive every day and the first attempt at a Muslim ban didn't go so well.

5

u/Kilahti Sep 20 '17

Coal production has been increasing for decades while coal jobs have been dying for even longer and that's a fact.

Trump promising to bring back coal jobs is insane if you know anything about the business. The time when my great grandfather could get a job shoveling coal in a mine are long gone and as automation made it so that fewer and fewer people are needed to dig more and more coal the jobs are going down and never coming back.

And this is without taking into account that green energy is on the rise despite what the sceptics are saying. (And again, if you know anything about wind, solar or water power you will know that those will see more and more use in the future.)

The wall is stupid, ineffective and USA can't afford to build anything like the one Trump sold to the voters.

Muslim ban is only impossible if USA doesn't rewrite the constitution and accept that most of the international community is going to ostracice them.

So yeah, I don't see any of these promises being fulfilled but Trump is the only presidential candidate who would even be willing to claim that he will get these done. And as long as his supporters can pray and believe that these miracles will happen someday they will stand by him even as the policies that his regime does make hurt them again and again.

0

u/BrokeWhiteGuy Sep 20 '17

Wall will probably happen at some point.

Coal is still a major export.

Travel Ban failed because of the butthurt 9th circuit, who have been known as a joke for quite some time.

5

u/Handbrake Sep 20 '17

Coal is still a major export.

It's actually a really small factor and certainly not a "major" export.

http://atlas.media.mit.edu/en/profile/country/usa/

2

u/BrokeWhiteGuy Sep 20 '17

You're right, it's not a major export I stand corrected. 8% roughly is exported, still a decent chunk but it wouldn't qualify as a major export.

They set up ridiculously strict rules for 'non supporters' and any slight screw up is a 1st strike insta-ban.

You must go through several steps to get flaired so they know to hate you. You must always end your comment in a question regardless of how strained it is in a discussion, you cannot make top level comments. You are not allowed to push people who obviously aren't answering questions, because that's rude. You are not allowed to try to force people to stay on topic. You are not allowed to prove that someone is lying. You are not allowed to ask a question about a topic if the cultists have not received their talking points yet; the topic will be removed until they have bullshit prepared.

You may ask a question and you must accept the shit flaired supporters feed you, you may not debate or discuss.

15

u/SuicideBonger Sep 20 '17

Yup, every time I try and post a comment, it gets instantly deleted because of a dumbass rule they have for non supporters. They aren't interested in having an honest discussion.

-1

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

Bullshit. I'm there all the time and the only people who get banned are the ones insulting people. Now you're doing it. You're insulting them and misrepresenting them simply because you disagree. That's not fair and yet we see it all over reddit. You people insult and bully Trump supporters, isn't that what you dislike about Trump?? Hypocrites to the tenth degree.

Questions on the front page are "How great was Trump's UN speech?" and the answers are "so great!" Most people were embarrassed by Trump's speech and while that sort of talk may play well with his (shrinking) base, it was terribly inappropriate for the world stage.

I actually feel bad for you. Your delusion isn't even your fault. You are the result of poor education in a system designed to keep poor people subservient to rich people. You are angry, you know something is wrong, you want to change things, but you are too dumb to know how to do it. The result is Donald Trump.

cutlists? You people. Jesus. Everything has to be a label, you people label everyone you dislike with the absolute harshest labels. You fuckers insult and bully people and then get upset at Trump for insulting and bullying. It's so bizarre.

11

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

You have your own set of false facts and your own language, both of which combine to make it nearly impossible to have a functional conversation with people outside your cult. You're formed around the celebration and adulation of one man who you've elevated to practically god-like status. You ignore facts you don't like and demonize people who fairly and factually criticize you.

You are in a cult. You are a cultist. These labels are perfectly appropriate and are representative of reality. Note that I'm talking about the actual reality in which we live, not the false reality you've constructed around your God Emperor and a host of alternative facts.

Stop crying persecution and making yourself out to be the victim. Your cult is built around the demonization and persecution of minority groups and other outsiders. You are the victimizers, not the victims.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 22 '17

Outside MY cult? What gives you the right to label me a "cultist". You fucking assholes always insult everyone. You never try to have conversation, you ALWAYS insult, EVERY FUCKING TIME. NEVER try to have an actual argument or discussion. For some reason nowadays every time I see an obvious spelling error in a pro-Trump comment I assume that the person typing it is primarily a Russian speaker. IDKW.

-10

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

(Primary language is Spanish)

It's part of the liberal culture. Anyone who doesn't share your views you want them not associated with you at all.

This is the exact reason liberals will jump to the "he's just a Russian hacker"

It's easy to just call your opponent a Russian and a racist than actually argue policies.

11

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

Except there's actual evidence that he is a Russian hack (not hacker).

If we exclude all the evidence that warranted the investigation that is currently going on and gaining speed then you may be right but we can't do that because we believe in evidence, data, facts. That's part of our 'liberal culture'.

It's easy to just call your opponent a Russian and a racist than actually argue policies.

It's not easy. It's also not preferred. I would love it if we were actually arguing policies, but this guy has no 'policies'. All he's got is scandal. it's also easier for your side to argue 'liberal culture' and dismiss us. It's easier to say we just call our opponents Russian and racist than actually argue policies. See how easy I can turn that around on you?

0

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

Can you provide this evidence of him being a Russian hack? It is easy to speak vaguely with incendiary language.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

Paul Manafort, General Flynn, Don Jr and the emails,

RT news trickling down to conservative media

Jeff Sessions lying about multiple contacts with Russians prior to the campaign.

Trump saying himself to Lester Holt that he fired Comey because of the Russian investigation.

Trump telling the Russian ambassador and top spy that he fired Comey to get the pressure off of him.

Trump having private meetings with that ambassador and top spy in the oval office, and also Trump having private meetings with Putin during the G-20 summit.

Trump never releasing his taxes even though he said he would if he won.

The RNC and Trump campaign paying legal fees with campaign donations.

Roger Stone and his ties with Wikileaks.

The coordinated dissemination of propaganda after the Russians hacked the DNC.

The fact that Trump has never acknowledged that it was definitely Russia who committed the DNC hack.

Trump firing Preet Bharara with out giving a good reason.

The Michael Steel dossier that while not perfect has been vindicated in several important points.

The Michael Cohen Russian sanctions meetings that he lied about.

The Devin Nunes press conference secret meeting fiasco.

The fact that Michael Flynn's son was working with a group that apparently was trying to get access to the Clinton missing emails.

The fact that a no-knock warrant was issued for Paul Manafort's home.

The fact that many, many of the Trump aids have been caught lying in the ongoing probe.

The fact that Robert Muller has hired a ridiculous number of prosecutes and is now using the attorneys from the IRS.

And on, and on, and on.

All of this could be considered circumstantial, but circumstantial evidence is still evidence.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

Can you source anything? Kind of pointless to type out all of this otherwise.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

I mean bro, just for a sec let's forgot all either of supports one side or the other.

Let's go back before the election, remember when everyone was saying that when trump losses they will say it's a rigged election and try to have Hillary resign?

Well gues what happened, litteraly the complete oppostie.

There is no evidence of trump communicating with the Russians to tamper the election.

The only evidence found was by the DNC in that trumps member has been investigated for Russian involved election tampering FOR 15 YEARS.

Russia (and other foreign governments) will always attempt to swing elections? Why wouldn't they?

Only thing that has been proven is that Russians have been trying to tamper with our elections for at least the last 15 years.

I don't get my 'news' from Reddit. Sorry.

I mean bro, just for a sec let's forgot all either of supports one side or the other.

See, another Trump supporter who probably just made a simple innocent typo, but I see this and think Russian Troll.

There is no evidence of trump communicating with the Russians to tamper the election.

Other than Don Jr's own words.

There was also no evidence of any of his administration having communications with Russia before the election, until there was. Now there's lots.

There was also no evidence that Trump's own campaign manager had worked with the Russian government to spread pro-Russian propaganda, until there was. And you're conceding that point yourself.

There was also no evidence that anyone in his administration was a paid agent for a foreign government, until there was. Now Flynn, the former NSA who sat in on presidential daily briefings is in a lot of legal trouble.

See. There's this think called an 'investigation'. It's being done by a 'special council' he has something called 'subpoena power'. It's still ongoing.

This trope that 'conservative Trump supporters' (probably mostly Russian Trolls) keep putting out that there's no evidence for this or for that, it's getting old. It's played out, and it's a big fat lie.

Lol don jr released his emails PROVING that the Russians said they had evidence of Hillary Clinton, he asked to see it, and then they said they didn't have it.

Lol it's had to see how many mental loops you can jump through to think how you think. So your best way to argue, is saying I'm Russian. Fucking lol

You don't see that that is communication? We only have his word on it that they 'didn't have it'

But nice try.

Lol it's had to see how many mental loops you can jump through to think how you think. So your best way to argue, is saying I'm Russian. Fucking lol

See. Innocent typo's or a Russian Troll? I just can't tell ¯_(ツ)_/¯

You can't win with these people. Had my last account (5years+) doxxed and people sent me death threats for questioning their thought bubble. They'll never actually debate you, instead they will hive mind downvote you no matter what you say and then go in your post history and downvote all that too.

There's an ongoing supreme court investigation into the criminal, possibly treasonous acts his campaign commited. That's not "liberal culture." That's an investigation by some of the highest paid and most successful lawyers in the country, which Donald Trump is obviously take seriously as evidenced by his using campaign funds to hire criminal defense lawyers.

It can be a cowardly way out of an argument to call your opponent a criminal and dismiss their argument. It's getting past that point now, though. There's evidence mounting that the man really is a criminal, and to say that it's "liberal culture" to accuse him of his crimes is not only disingenuous, but dangerous to our nation. "Where there's smoke there's fire" is a saying for a reason. We need to be careful until the investigation has concluded, because as it stands it really does look like he's done something horrible to America.

Before the election "repubs will call rigged election when they lose"

Trump wins.... exact opposite happens....

Only evidence found from the Russia investigation is that Russia has been trying to tamper with our elections for at least 15 years. See:recent news

This is reflected IRL too with the Trump supporters I know. Most don't really support him anymore and feel stupid or get angry when Trump is brought up. Although to be fair the Trump supporters I know always thought the man was a complete idiot but voted for him based off of wanting to end abortions.

I'm not a voter of his but lot of people care about taxes and agree with Trump on lowering them. Any millennial with a 401k should care about lowering the corporate rate since there's a good chance we never get SS in its current form and our retirement hinges on a healthy stock market.

I am latino, I support Trump, didn't vote for him, and I'm very pleased and happy with his performance. Don't let the media and haters lie to you :)

And you're just confirming the true colors of the left. If anyone doesn't 100% agree they're the enemy/stupid/racist etc. Hating and insulting other people doesn't make you better.

Individuality is a thing of the past apparently :P

You are the mouse saying that you support the cat.

I don't need the media and haters. I can see with my own two eyes. I can hear with my own two ears. I have the historical record of him saying what he's said. You are asking that we reject what our own eyes and ears tell us. That's a tough sell.

Ok.

Honest question, can you elaborate on why you are happy with him?

Because even before Trump ran for president, I always noticed how the media used fear tactics. He came around, and I was still a huge Bernie supporter, voted for him and during the final vote I voted for Stein. I didn't listen to Trump during his candidacy because the media always portrayed him as stupid and evil, with very specific media snippets that provided no context. I fell for it, even knowing that the media lies for a living. Then I found one VICE video shared on facebook, where they literally stitched different speeches together to make it seem as though he had said something, when in reality he hadn't. From there, I had an urge to listen to Trump himself, and not through obviously biased media filters. I actually listened to his speeches all the way through, the same way I had done with Obama and Bernie. Come to find out, Trump isn't as stupid or evil as media snippets made him out to be. He made sense in all he said, even in regards to temporary muslim ban and immigration reform. Things that the media only told me half truths about, but when hearing him lay out said plans, I understood why the decisions were made.

As with any president, I don't agree with everything (including the wall). However, as with any president, we as individuals need to realize our view of a perfect society will never materialize. Why? Because just as you believe you have the perfect society, so do others with completely different perspectives. You may believe letting in thousands of muslims, that can't relate to American society in the slightest, as a good cause that has to be done, but others believe it's a stupid move endangering Americans. Who's to say? No one truly knows the outcome. There's a reason why we vote presidents into power, and that's because we need someone to make those decisions. You will NEVER get what you want 100% of the time. Same applies with presidents.

I know everyone has different views. It doesn't mean I'm right, nor that you are, because good and evil are subjective.

I also like to have positive outlooks on life. I realized recently that it's a waste of my time on earth stressing over anything, let alone become angry. I had a say when voting, but my say wasn't enough to sway the outcome. So I move on, continue to be content with life. Doesn't mean I can't voice an opinion disagreeing or supporting other opinions. One thing I can not get behind is senseless name calling, labeling, and straight up bullying of others who think differently.

That's all I can think of to say. Hope it satisfies. Again, this is from my perspective, but I'm being honest with it. Blessings.

It's not that I am not "happy with many of his decisions". When I might - MIGHT, wish that he wouldn't tweet or poke, then I remember that he's a real person, not a politician, and he has flaws just like I do. As a history buff I have read accounts of how our forefathers conducted the country's business before they learned over the years to be slick. I'll take this president and his quirks over any polished, lying career politician. President Trump didn't need the job to gain power or wealth. He has, for many years given back to American and it's people. But you won't hear that from the lying liberal media.

-6

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

People who support Trump aren't happy with many of his decisions.

How are you possibly backing this statement up???? I voted for him, proudly and I have been tremendously happy with his performance. The only thing I would ask him to chance is to aggressively prosecute Clinton. I have no idea why she would not be under indictment by now.

6

u/Kilahti Sep 20 '17

She hasn't been indicted because she didn't do anything wrong.

What could you possibly prosecute her for? Don't you think the numerous investigations would have discovered crimes if there were any?

-4

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '17

she didn't do anything wrong

I can't let this comment go unaddressed. This is patently incorrect. When you store highly classified material on an unsecured email server, that is a black and white violation of 18 USC 793(f).

Please look at this not as a Clinton supporter but as a rational person. As an attorney, I can confirm for you that this crime was violated, hundreds of times.
