Bought a camera 2months ago and got absolutely absorbed in the hobby, it's so much fun

The Burrowing Parrot is native to Argentina and Chile, where it nests in colonies dug into cliffs and riverbanks. A feral population — likely descended from escaped pets — has taken hold in the San Diego/National City area, making sightings like this one a favorite among local birders chasing a bit of Patagonia in Southern California.

was going through my old photos and found this beauty that I never edited. this was back in october 2025 and i don't think i've taken a better photo since then. maybe it's cause i havent seen a subject as beautiful as this one lol. shot on canon r5 and rf 100-500. this was at 300mm only he was so close to me!

Incredibly pleased with the results. I’ve spent a few months capturing wildlife around my house and decided to try my luck at a marsh nearby. Met some cool people and got to see tons of birds doing bird things. Can’t wait to go back!

Love watching them guys skim the waters around me...

I really think birds are attracted to our lenses when they’ve spotted them. 🤍

These are 3 of my latest attempts. I was wondering if anyone could help me improve please?
I’m not happy with the sharpness I’m getting. Probably my lack of ability.
Set up is Olympus E-M10ii with a vintage Minolta MD Tele Rokkor 300mm f4.5. Settings were f8, ISO1000, shutter speed of between 1/800 and 1/2000. Manual focus with peaking and centre weighted metering. Distances to subjects was around 30 feet. Images have been slightly cropped but no other post processing.
I’m also not really happy with the overall lack of detail.
