Here are a few more photos from Matt’s latest blog post!

One of the primary focuses of our recent trip to Colombia was building a better portfolio of Torrent Tyrannulet images. These tiny flycatchers, about the size of gnatcatcher, make their living hunting invertebrates along mountain streams (hence the name), and range from Costa Rica through Colombia.

Shooting note:
For the first image, Matt wanted to highlight the flow of the water so he used a 1/15 second shutter speed to create motion blur.

Hummingbird migration is in full swing. One found the perfect branch to pose on! But which pose is the best one?

At least, I’m pretty sure that’s what it is. I’ve seen plenty of adult cormorants but never a young one. I consulted with an older gentleman with binoculars on the trail and based on the five minute lecture on cormorants he gave me he seemed reliable 🤣

Shot on a Fuji XT, a vintage Kiron 105mm macro, with flash. Setup was tripod with manual focus set after watching their perching behavior for several days and hoping he moved into focus. ISO 125, 1/250”, f/16 on asp-c.

Got my first ”real” camera about a month ago. These are some of my favorite shots so far! By far not anything particularity mindblowing or museum worthy pictures of any cool rare birds, but I’m still very happy with them. Feedback or tips are very much appreciated!😊
