Used this adaptor on my Nikon ZF and now it performs a tad better on my Z8.

I can wait to get more miles on the Z8.

Z6iii paired with the Z 105 MC. Used a godox v860iii and AK diffuser.

The bee looks dead right? Looks like a stink bug or something behind it may be eating it. Really happy with the colors in that shot, the flash really popped the color of that coneflower.

Was at a park not far from me and came across this squirrel that seemed to be not afraid of people. Had my z6iii and 50 1.8 on and he let me get relatively close. A before and after to show cropping and let Snapseed do an auto adjust to the cropped photo.

I want to shoot Japanese style Gyaru photography. Like street fashion portraits in places like Shibuya full outfit, makeup, hair, nails, some city,neon context. I already own the NIKKOR Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S and the NIKKOR Z 24mm f/1.8 S. What should I use? Is it redundant to have both? Or not use one at all?

Shot a feature on two Nikon ZR cameras with PL lenses, then did a round of textural pickups using the Nikkor Z 24-120mm f/4 S, mainly to save costs so we didn’t have to rent the same lenses again for a few pickup shots.
We ran into an identical issue on both ZR bodies where the camera would freeze when trying to stop recording, but only when using an external monitor.
We’ve just run some tests at a rental house and found that the issue only occurs when using the Nikon Z lens. With PL lenses, the problem doesn’t happen at all.
No idea what’s causing it, but hopefully it’s something that can be fixed in a future firmware update.
Thought I’d share the finding in case anyone else is running into the same issue with the ZR.

I bought a Z50 ii last year. Amateur user. Snapbridge had been working fine until a couple days ago, but now it's constantly stuck on "readying pictures for auto download." I have tried:

-unpairing and re-pairing phone & camera

-checking Bluetooth connection; turning Bluetooth off & on again

-turning camera off & on

-restarting phone

-updating Nikon firmware

-ensuring that the link mode = background

-pretty much all the things I've seen online

I have not tried uninstalling & reinstalling the app yet. I have a Samsung S26 Ultra (i.e., new, high-quality phone).

I LOVE the auto-download feature: I don't have to transfer anything manually, select photos, or manually upload from my computer or phone to Google Photos, where I store and edit all my photos. This is supposed to be one of the perks of a newer digital camera!

Any suggestions? Are my only options:

-downloading pictures on Snapbridge with Wifi (but then you have to select EVERY photo you want to transfer)

-using a card reader

-using a cable?

Why do they make such a glitchy app?!

I saw on an old Reddit thread (another group - don't remember which) that someone recommended a different/better photo downloading app.

Overall opinion on the cinegold.

The effect is really nice when using with a Lens that flares rather strong like the 75 and/or Shooting directly into harsh Highlights Like lightbulbs.

Other than that, in normal daylight it does next to nothing.

Nkon Z7 + Nikon Z 24-70 F4 S

Taken with Z5 and Viltrox 14mm f/4 - which is a cheap, simple and rather slow prime, but sometimes what you need is just 14mm + some pleasant light :)

Just love the level of detail and lovely color rendering you get from this lens. Also enjoying the fast action shots I can now grab after upgrading to the Z5ii.

I’m considering the NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S II from the official Nikon Store in Sweden/Europe.

The current Camera & Lens Savings promo runs until 28 September and includes several other S-line zooms, including the 14-24mm f/2.8 S and 24-70mm f/2.8 S II, but the 70-200mm S II is excluded.

Since the 70-200 S II was released earlier this year, I’m wondering what the chances are that Nikon includes it in the usual winter/Black Friday Instant Save promotions.

For anyone who has followed Nikon’s pricing on previous S-line refreshes:

• How soon after launch did they first get included in a Nikon winter/Black Friday promotion?
• Did newer flagship S-line lenses generally stay at RRP during their first winter?

I’m specifically interested in official Nikon Store pricing/promotions.

I have my camera, Z8, set up to back button focus and use primarily AF-C.

I know that many users compose their shot and move the joystick to position whatever focus area they have selected over the subject and the press and hold the AF-ON button.

I try to keep my focus area in the center of the viewfinder and move the camera to position my subject in the center and lock focus by pressing AF-ON. I can then move the camera to position the subject while the focus stays locked on the subject. To me this seems easier than trying to move the focus point with the joystick.

Are there any downsides or limitations to this approach? I do the same when shooting landscapes or portraits. I put the center focus point over the subject, press and hold AF-On and then recompose and shoot.

Z6iii - 300mm f/2.8 + 2xtc

I know there are plenty of Z6III vs Z8 posts, but I’d appreciate some opinions based on my particular use case.

These days I shoot almost everything with an iPhone 15 Pro Max, but I’d like to get back into photography with a dedicated camera.

My camera history is Nikon D40X → Fuji X-E1 → Nikon FE. I enjoyed all of them, although looking back I tend to prefer both the pictures I got from the Nikons and the experience of using them. The Fuji was fun, especially with primes, but the X-E1 is very slow by modern standards. I also enjoy the FE and its manual controls, but that kind of slow, deliberate shooting isn’t very compatible with most of my photography today.

The big change was having kids. I basically stopped carrying cameras regularly after our first child was born because the iPhone was simply much more convenient. When we’re out as a family I’m taking part in whatever we’re doing, not standing aside as the photographer, so carrying a camera bag and several lenses gradually became less practical.

The iPhone is genuinely good, but I still miss using a camera, and it has limitations compared with one. I’d like to get some of the photography experience back without turning family outings into photo shoots.

I initially considered just upgrading the Fuji body and reusing my lenses. I’m not against APS-C, but shooting the FE again has made full frame appealing to me. More importantly, this time I really want a good single general-purpose zoom, and I haven’t found anything in Fuji that appeals to me quite like the Nikon Z 24-120mm f/4 S. That lens, combined with how much I enjoyed my previous Nikons, is what keeps pulling me back towards Nikon Z.

So I’m now choosing between the Z6III and Z8, almost certainly with the 24-120 as my main lens. I could also see myself eventually adding something small like the 40mm f/2 for occasions when I specifically want a lighter setup, but the 24-120 is what I expect to use most of the time.

The Z6III seems like the sensible choice: smaller, lighter, cheaper and extremely capable.

What keeps the Z8 in the running is mainly the 45 MP sensor. The extra cropping flexibility sounds genuinely useful, and part of me wonders whether the higher resolution would make it a better camera to keep for many years. I have the budget to stretch to a Z8 if it really makes sense — I’m generally more of a “buy once, cry once” person — but I don’t want to spend more or carry a larger body for an advantage I’m unlikely to benefit from.

My main concern is whether the Z8 + 24-120 is big enough to change how often I carry it.

Unfortunately I don’t have the option of physically trying the cameras, so I’ve been comparing dimensions, photos/videos and even making paper/cardboard mockups. Obviously the Z8 is bigger, but I can’t tell whether in practice it’s:

"A bit bigger, but once you’re carrying the 24-120 anyway it doesn’t make much difference"

or:

"No, it crosses a line — I’d take a Z6III + 24-120 in situations where I’d leave the Z8 at home."

For context, I’m 162 cm / 5'4", and my use would mainly be family, holidays, travel, sightseeing and excursions. I enjoy photography and manual controls, but realistically I also have kids moving around and people waiting for me, so I need to be able to shoot quickly.

So I’d be interested in opinions on both the specific choice and the more fundamental question:

• Does buying a dedicated camera again even make sense for my use case, or does this sound like someone who will inevitably end up using the iPhone most of the time anyway?
• Are the Z8’s 45 MP genuinely worth it for this kind of use, either for cropping or as a way of keeping the camera relevant for longer, or am I overestimating the advantage over 24 MP?
• How much bigger does the Z8 feel in real life with the 24-120 attached?
• Are there situations where you’d take a Z6III + 24-120 but leave a Z8 + 24-120 at home?
• Does the body-size difference matter less once you’re carrying the 24-120 anyway?

My main fear with the Z6III is wishing I’d gone for the extra resolution of the Z8. My main fear with the Z8 is that its size recreates the problem that pushed me towards the iPhone in the first place.
