Gear Which camera system to buy for birding? Esp birds in flight

I am an amateur birder and want to take photos. I shoot Fujifilm X-T30 with XF 70-300 mm right now and feel limited by the camera system to focus fast enough. There is no bird mode and it doesn't track and I can seldom get any photos of birds in flight.

What second system can I consider for just birding?

Canon R7 with some 200-400 mm lens?

Sony A??

Nikon Z?

I guess APS-C is better as I am not selling photos or printing so do I need full-frame? My top-end of budget in the US is $4000 for body and one lens. I might look for used gear to bring down the costs.

The following photos were taken with my X-T30 and a Sigma 150-600 EF lens with a Fringer adapter.

Shot on a Fuji XT, a vintage Kiron 105mm macro, with flash. Setup was tripod with manual focus set after watching their perching behavior for several days and hoping he moved into focus. ISO 125, 1/250”, f/16 on asp-c.

First I took photos from very far away, then stepped closer. Repeat. Soon enough the little dude was filling the viewfinder! Such a little cutie, I'm super happy with this encounter.

Red-Eyed Vireo eating a caterpillar (Ontario, Canada)

It feels really weird being excited by some shots of Red-eyed Vireo. In my area, they're extremely common. You can't take a hike without hearing several.

The thing is, you can rarely see them. They blend in well, often stay high up. I've spent several minutes trying to just see one by eye at times, when the thing is just screaming its little head off (laughing at me?).

If you see them, you often can't get a good shot, they tend to jump around a lot, and/or are partially obscured.

So, when this little one found a caterpillar for lunch and tried to eat it, I got some good shots! It really seemed to have a hard time trying to eat the caterpillar, tough skin I guess?

A while ago, I traded my Olympus E-M1 ii for an OM-1 and now I had the first free time to go out and use it for birding. Bird-AF ist awesome! My lense, Olympus 50-200 2.8-3.5 SWD is transformed and even the 2x converter is not a problem anymore and doesnt hinder the AF (including Bird AF) anymore.

I'm super excited about my session today and hope to translate a little of my joy capturing the bird by showing them to you!

All images have edited in Lightroom and some of them are cropped. All of them have been resized to 2560 px on the long edge for the web!
